Thanks Trin8-0.   Rockwell museum is in Stockbridge, Ma.  Many of his paintings are of places in Western Ma.  Wife and I have visited the museum and a number of places...especially around Pittsfield, Ma.....like the courthouse and around Lee, Ma., just off the Ma. Turnpike.

Red Lion Inn is a favorite place to stay of mine in Stockbridge and highly recommend it for anyone visiting Stockbridge. Beautiful town and great Rockwell museums.

Love all of Rockwells classics but that one is my favorite. The detail is superb right down to the Equipment guy fitting the recruit with a beautiful pair of Riddell Pro Lites, the Cadillac of cleats back then.

Others in the painting are Denny Kelly, Williams '68, and Joe Alcott, longtime outstanding trainer at Williams. Coach Navarro also managed the Williams College freshman baseball team to an undefeated 8-0 season in 1964, including two wins over amHerst. The Williams team is notable for having the most wins in an undefeated season at that time of any Williams team since 1936.

Good news for the Hammer at Bowdoin.

4 solid senior starters exercising their Red Shirt option and returning next fall. The Black and White will retain 4 guys who are arguably the best of the class of 21 and leaders in the Bowdoin program.

Millett TE
Rose LB

Gathering some info from around the conference on Class of 21 Red Shirts at other schools as well. Surprising results.

One interesting note from Mayflower Hill. No returning seniors from the class of 21 for the Mules next fall.

Word is the Hammer worked hard to "recruit" this group of top seniors to return.
2019 Starting QB and former Lafayette recruit McCrum is gone. At 6'5" 229 he won every beauty contest and was projected as the next great NESCAC QB transfer but it just didn't work. Some tough luck for the Maine kid. He was doing well as a FY at Lafayette only to have the staff that recruited him fired. He transfers to Bowdoin and that staff is gassed.

If Wells and Viall were retained at Bowdoin the kid would have fared far better. In 2019 McCrum got stuck in the learning process of Hammers young Polar Bear Cub QB coach.

On the other hand Cosgrove is said to have made little effort to keep any guys from the class of '21. Those are the last of the  Michaeles recruits and the way Cosgrove has recruited he sees more talent among his recruits. The one kid he should have gone all out to keep is LB Bullard but I'm told the all league LB is moving on. Best player on Colby team the last time we played NESCAC football.

Fall is right around the corner and it's great to see things take shape for the upcoming NESCAC season

Interesting, lumbercat.  Next year NESCAC is gonna be absolutely LOADED with five years of talented guys at most schools.  I imagine it will be very hard for class of 2025 guys to crack many lineups.  Williams and Wesleyan should both be absolutely stacked with elite, very experienced vets on both sides of the ball, and Midd obviously will be very strong again coming off the 9-0 year.  I can't imagine Trinity won't find a way to bounce back given the massive, loaded classes it has brought in three years running now.  Tufts was a very young squad in 2019 and should be on the rise.  Amherst almost never has two down years in a row under E.J., although on paper they don't look like a contender, you can't count them out.  Colby is I think probably another year away but clearly is getting stronger.  As for Bates, Hamilton and Bowdoin?  Well, it could be rough for those three ...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my recollection you are a Williams guy? Forgive me- I get some of the byline identities confused.

Yes, I'm a Williams guy.  I believe a lot of Ephs are coming back, but nothing official on who is or isn't.  The class of 2021 is certainly loaded with talent (Maimaron, Stola, Nelson, Wesner, Burke, Manzella, Rothmann, Dozier, Rooney, Watson, most of those guys have  already been all-NESCAC players) so if the bulk of that group is back, as I suspect they will be, Williams can play with anyone.  The only guys I've seen confirmed as graduating so far from the class of 2021 were not guys expected to play a major role on the team, but again, nothing official anywhere as to who is staying for the fall.  I forgot about this article when first posting, noting that Maimaron (and, it's implied, Stola) is back in 2021 along with most of the other seniors.  So I'd expect to see most of those names on the roster in the fall.  I'd also expect the four 2021 Eph captains - in addition to Maimaron, Rothmann, Wesner and John Rooney - would be back as well, since they were leading the team workouts throughout the year.

Plus the Ephs have an awesome 1-2 combo at TB, two of the best in the league - and Joel Nicholas is one of the most talented backs NESCAC has seen in some time - Spiezio really came on at TE late in his sophomore year, and there is lots of young talent pretty much everywhere on the roster.  I'm also very impressed with a lot of the guys in the small-but-impressive 2024 and 2025 classes.  The Ephs seem to be bringing in a lot of very fast, dynamic, hugely accomplished playmakers at TB and WR in the class of 2025 in particular, some really talented guys on the edge on defense in the class of 2024 (watch out for Coleston Smith's "little" brother among a lot of other players), and some good offensive linemen in both classes who will likely be in the two-deep right away, as that is the biggest question mark, for sure, on the Williams roster with only three experienced offensive linemen (all all-league caliber guys, but still, massive unknowns at the other OL spots and in terms of depth) returning from a fairly dominant unit.

amh63

Good chatter going on.  Several notes.  Amherst is slowly reporting on its '25 recruits.  Mention of off-campus scouting by assist coaches which I take as a possible Nescac football season that I can attend some live games!!.
Want to use this space to point out the great success of conference Rowing Teams.  A shout out to Bates here.  Bates has won its 4th straight NCAA National Championship.  Wow!

Williams will be a force with all those guys back. I was told Maimoron, Stola, Rothman and others were handed diplomas and graduated last week in Williams ceremony.

SpringSt7

Williams' graduation ceremony was expanded to include those who took a semester off at any point this year so that they could be together with their class. I am under the impression that close to the entire senior class is returning, with no notable omissions. They should be loaded next year.

Lumbercat, I'll be up in the Londonderry, NH area for a few weekends this coming Fall visiting a buddy of mine. I know that I can certainly find out distances easily but what would you say are the three of four must attend stadiums (atmosphere) and games in the NESCAC. Thanks and God Bless.

Interesting "news" on the Bowdoin football website!  There is on the football site, an announcement of the hiring of three new assist. coaches Today.  Going to the normal football site, the info on coaches shows the Head Coach, and 7 assistant coaches....very little info wrt duties.  Bowdoin appears to have 11 coaches...3 more than the norm for a Nescac football staff.  Will await Fall to see how things shake out 8-)

Ok I'm your guy for this but let me know what weekends you will be in Londonderry.

Without hesitation the pick you gotta go with is Tufts which is the closest for you- probably 45 minute drive. You'll make a mistake if you don't stock up with tailgate provisions at Bobs on Main St in Medford which is 5 minutes from Ellis Oval. Best of Boston Subs, sandwiches.....Chicken Parm, Steak and Cheese and the Best Italian Sub around. If Bates is in Medford that day we are typically in there stocking up around 11:30

Give me your time frame in the area and I'll suggest another couple of games that might be fun.

Thanks Lumbercat, will do!!! Also, is anybody aware of a brewery by the name of Tree House? I had a few of their beers a couple of weekends ago and the IPA's were unreal!!! They have a few "best of" beers in Beer Advocate. It looks like they are in Charlton, Deerfield and a place called Sandwich(?). I'll look it up and grab some next trip up to Londonderry (is everybody in Southern New Hampshire originally from MA??). Try the Julius..................amazing!!!
