I've heard that before.  I'm a pretty crummy historian when it comes to this, and my only personal basis of comparison is the year before I attended Trinity (2-6 record I think), as well as my 4 years there.

As for the "fight" between Trinity and Williams, was it more like Trinity winning the occasional title and Williams the vast majority, or was it closer than that?

Col. Partridge

There was no league title per se, so I'm not sure how to characterize it.   Don Miller won a ton of games over the years, but I believe 1993 was his only undefeated season.  I read in one of the linked articles here that the Williams players played Amherst for the alumni and Trinity for themselves, so it must have meant something to Williams even when they were the ones in the middle of  a long winning streak.

The next two weeks look to be the main weeks for this conference. i haven't really followed it much, but I think I have a good idea of what's going on. With Trinity losing to Williams a couple weeks back, this conference is pretty much wide open. Williams havign to face Middlebury and Tufts in back to back weeks will pretty much say who wins the conference and who doesn't. I have to say that I like Williams winning if only for the fact that they can score a whole lot better than the other teams.

My only pet peeve of this conference is I'd like to see them in some non-conference play, and I'm sure many other people would as well.

I fly up and watch each bates game. Can not say enough about the effort the kids , coaches put in. In fact both amherst and williams showed enormous class in their victories. The bashing is unfair to all involved. These kids are all outstanding in most ways. I have been overimpressed, with the quality of the fans, players alike. Its just a class act. As a parent of a freshmen I think it would be cool to see a non conference game. Coaches choice sort of thing. New places, travel is always fun, interesting. The jv game with colbe 12-10 was fantastic, we all had a great weekend. Now lets see bates bring one home against a improved wesleyan squad. Colby won (but just wait)

I do know the program quite well, and also know he just like anyone else on the staff has input, but you make him sound like he is Chrlie Weis....he is no more a factor that anyone else on that staff, and the fact they are healthy this year and have always had great defenses year in and year out over the past 10 years....he maybe a good coach, but he is not the reason they are winning....

You again need to do a better job of reading what I say instead of reading into what I say.  I have speculated his impact on the defense.  Winning is a different thing and to the credit of the coaches in charge.  I like all the Midd coaches.

Chessdoc, how did the boy do?  I remember my first JV and Varsity scrimmage action.  When Priore came to Trinity, he harassed me about how pitiful I was.

Also, I was lucky enough to have one of my friends from high school who was a year younger than I send in his best game film.  Coincidentally, it was his junior/my senior year, and my worst game in two years as a high school varsity starter.

Hopefully, your boy got off to a better start than I!

He got on the field,so were thrilled. In the jv game he make a few tackles and did not embarress himself so were all happy. He is now a cornerback, which is an interesting change which he is adapting to, frankly its just great to see him dressed. Everything else is upside. go cats.

Sorry to go off topic, but has anyone been following the Aleksey Vayner saga?  He is a Yale student who made a preposterous self-promotional video that he sent along with a resume...it has been making the rounds on Wall Street the last few days.  Quite possible the funniest thing I've seen in years.   I'd post the link, but youtube took it down.

Hey how are the Massachusetts kids doing in the league? The Bowdoin roster is filled with many of them as well as Colby and tuft's?

Col. Partridge

I'm going to take a wild guess and say there are more kids from MA than any other state on all NESCAC rosters but Hamilton.  For what its worth, after 3 weeks, MA has produced 2 offensive players of the week, 1 defensive player of the week and two rookies of the week.

Regarding the massachusetts players, I took a look at the top 9 players in rushing yards per game.  Leo (1st), Morrissey (5th), Smith (7th), and Walker (8th) .  I know that at least these four are from mass, and interesting enough, smith and walker are from the same high school.

Jumbo Brendan Georges ranked 3rd in rushing is from MA....QB Russo also.

tmerton:
You obvioulsy do not know the Middlebury football....  The Defensive Coordinator is Monninger who was the Co -Coordinator last year. Gritti is not feeding any ideas. The biggest plus for the Midd Defense is that Mandigo is back on the Defensive side of the ball coaching the Secondary. The Secondary is making Midd successful.

However Williams will win easily this weekend.
