Williams had slow starts against Bates and Middlebury.

It should be entertaining to see the Amherst-Williams game since Amherst will probably have some interesting plays drawn up for Hannon.

Any Tufts fans on here?  Haven't heard much about them.

Ephman...

typical Tufts team this year...started 3-0 & now the meat of the schedule hits us.  Defense played well, as usual, against the Bants last week but their defense totally shut down the Jumbos offense.  Trin's D definitely was fired up.  Last year, Williams completed a number of long passes early against Tufts which opened things up for the run and made that game ugly...I'd say the worst effort of the year from the Jumbos.  It's also the game where Arsenault (top LB) broke his ankle and he hasn't been back since, although he hopes to get in the lineup before the year is out.  Tufts secondary is a bit stronger this year....if the Jumbos can get back to moving the ball on the ground as they did in the first 3 weeks, they could give Williams a game.  Also helps that it's in Medford.

Tufts was always real tough.  I'm really, really surprised that they haven't recently pulled off a Colby and through consistently being above-average, won or tied for the league title simply by chance.

RHFandyouknowit

agree, tufts was always a tough team

I certainiy do not follow tufts with a micrscope, so my experiences are purely personal.  but to me, it seems like the jumbos are to running as wes is to passing.  they looove to run, but have never really been able to put together the full package - great d, great run, great pass.  they usually have 1 or maybe 2, but never all 3.  on another level, maybe they have a good oline, but an average tailback, maybe a good qb, but a bad oline, great backers, average 2ndary etc.  I played them 4 times, and all I remember is "Tufts loves to run the ball."  Sounds football fundamental, but not sure if it serves them as well as a more balanced attack.  Am i totally off base here?

Maybe Trin runs more, but we win becasue we got all three components

All you Trin fans be sure and vote for Mike Whalen (Cradle of Coaches class of '83) for Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year:

Trinity 8(5)0

Sorry, I've been away for a while, good to be back, thanks. Well, Capt. Partridge, I think the only things that true Trinity fans should be voting for is either my aforementioned modest proposal of an AI -- self-imposed, all the better!-- or an end to its football program altogether-- it's worked very well for S'more in terms of campus harmony and, ultimately, even alumni-giving. The Trinity football program is emblematic of the Camp Trin Trin sterotype and has only served to fuel the sorry image. Now that that snake-oil salesman Priore has left town and the left us in a wake of disgrace we need to smarten up, clean up the mess and move in a fresh direction.

If the Trinity football team is eliminated, arguably some other mens' teams will need to be beefed up (or added) in terms of numbers of participants, or some womens' teams reduced (or eliminated), or both, in order to be in harmony with Title IX. What might it be?

bant551

Trinity 8(5)0 is a complete joke -- and its gotten to the extent that I am thinking he might just be a troll, just trying to piss people off.

Noone can be that dumb and uncompromising on this subject.  I'll tell you what, if this kid is real, he is a complete embarassment to Trinity College.

Trinity 8(5)0

  Frank:
How about MIT? What could be better than having Williams play MIT in Cambridge at Steinbrenner Stadium?!?

  Bait551:

Thanks for proving my point about the Neanderthal mentality at Camp TrinTrin. Well done, my boy!

Col. Partridge

Of course he's a troll...I think this is the first time he is intimating he has anything to do with Trinity.  In doing some quick Google research to verify if Swarthmore alumni giving has increased after dropping football, I noticed his posts mirror those of someone on Ephblog.

He also appears to be answering a different question than the one Frank asked.

In any event, no one on this forum wants any NESCAC school going the way of Swarthmore (which Trinity 8(5)0 also knows).

Of course, I knew you guys wouldn't vote Whalen coach of the year, but (I hope) you knew that was in jest!

bant551

I don't have a problem voting for Whalen.  I generally like Williams and the players there.

I think we have figured out this texmex/Trin8(5)0 clown.  Clearly he is just posting to piss people off.  Read his response to my post about him being a troll.  Somehow that proved I was a "Neanderthal".

Not quite sure how pointing that out makes me a Neanderthal... but that also kind of proves the point about this kid.

You in the real world yet boy, or are you still up in your ivory tower in Willy-town?

Ephmen1991

Maybe Trin 8(5)0 lives in Mom and Dad's basement?

frank uible

Trinity 8: I can think of innumerable DIII games better than the one you suggest - either from an MIT standpoint or from a Williams standpoint or from a general standpoint.

Ephmen1991

Frank,

If there were to be some sort of cross-over game between NESCAC and another conference, do you think a team like Coast Guard would be a good fit?  I think they used to play Wesleyan and Trinity not too long ago.

frank uible

Amherst too. Coast Guard might be a good fit, but in my judgment there would be better ones - such as Pomona-Pitzer, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, University of Chicago, Grinnell, Carleton, WashU, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins and Washington and Lee.
