Should be noted just because you are following someone on Twitter does not mean they are prospects. Clear evidence is the BS Virtual days out there. Yes kids will get invited but 1 in 25 actually matriculate to the school. I believe that number may even be higher. I sincerely hope you are not banking on a successful season as to Social media likes. I have said that Tufts has had some good recruits in the past. However not one school in NESCAC recruits like Tufts does and for a reason it does not work. If your recruiting is not getting the upper echelon players that are even at your back door playing football then perhaps you should change your strategy dont you think ?

I would be by no means say that the upper echelon of players for Tufts the last few years have been coming from New England. Their top recruits the last 2-3 years have been almost all from outside of New England. I think this year is the year we will be able to see how that pans out for them with those guys being mostly sophomores and juniors now. From what I have been told that is why they have been recruiting their "backyard" so late. They are putting more energy into kids from the south and west coast which have in all honesty are much better high school football states and then getting what they can from the northeast to supplement that.

Considering that Tufts' THIRD STRING quarterback (who is the brother of a former Amherst player, so I assume Amherst wanted him) was one of the better QBs in the league last year, I think they are doing just fine in terms of recruiting ...

I have heard that as well lets see how that pans out for them and that will be the sign if this is recruiting philosophy is working.

I'm not so sure Civetti is a great OC or play caller but believe me he is a great recruiter. He knows how to sell his program. His sales pitch for Jumbos Football as "Bostons NESCAC Team" is masterful.

I think of a NESCAC football prospect who is not comfortable in an isolated, rural location. For that recruit it's a Medford or Hartford decision. I think Civetti wins more than his share of those deals.

He's branded Tufts football extremely well as a great location just minutes from Boston. The recruiting photo they use in Tufts correspondence that shows the photo of the Boston skyline and Fenway Park from Tufts tells me this guy knows how to sell and advance his program.

Sadly in order to be a good Head Coach you have to be a great recruiter. as well. His choice of Coaches and the fact that tufts has a reputation of paying its Coaches the least is the main reason they struggle in NESCAC. Some people maybe good recruiters but cant Coach and vice versa.

I gotta disagree again Charlie. The whole Tufts payroll issue improved significantly when they brought in the new AD at the same of the leadership change to President Monaco.

ironically, Civetti hired a new DC today replacing the guy they let go recently. Check this guys credentials, he didn't come cheap.
10 coaches on the Tufts staff.

Tufts also just seems to have gotten a commitment from 3-star OLB out of Georgia who picked them over multiple d1 offers including Rice. That team is going to be loaded with talent but let's see if Civetti can find a way to channel it into a championship.

Gotta set the record straight here.  Civietti was hired by the previous AD, who stuck with him through the dark days and the first year of the turnaround.  Monaco came on board several years before the new AD.  The new AD has clearly done a great job. No doubt about that but, the turn around was in motion before he arrived.  Civetti is an excellent coach and leader IMHO.  Rooting for him to suceed.

Thanks Old Card

I thought Monaco and new AD came in within a year or two of each other. I stand corrected on that.
However, no question the new AD was instrumental in working on Maonoco's watch with Monacos approval to improve the situation with Tufts football and Tufts athletics in general.

Question and I know i have asked this question before but NESCAC emulates its athletic scheduling for football after that of the Ivy League. Than why does NESCAC not allow for an out of conference game. The Ivy league plays 10 games. So why does NESCAC not play 10 games.

Your'e a plant Charlie

I only ask that because I heard from one of the assisatnt coaches that they maybe allowed a pre season controlled scrimmage. If they are than why not just give them a non conference game.

You're a plant- you heard me
Easy to find stuff out here Charlie

Would be awesome I guess WNE is trying to set it up barring approval from NESCAC. So who knows maybe open door for future but like you said would not hold my breath but at least there are talks.
