Seems like a great landing spot. Also according to his Twitter he graduated this winter so I would imagine that means he will be at UNH starting in a few weeks. That extra preparation should do him a lot of good.

Union HC resigned to take John Carroll job. I'm told there are a number of NECAC assistants who will be chasing this job along with 2-3 Ivy coordinators. It will be large applicant pool. A good situation with a lot of administrative support to win.

Via his Twitter page, the Fordham LS/DL that was reportedly considering Wesleyan has an "opportunity" @ Iowa State (Dec 20) and offer @ Ball State (Dec 13) Not sure its in the NESCAC Cards :P

If he's a really good long snapper he will attract even the highest D1 suitors if they need a snapper, can't afford a mistake at that position. Don't know how good he is but if Fordham Punter got the ball under .80 seconds on average theres no telling where he might end up- depends evaluation of his release and zip on the ball.

If his desire is to get on the field as a DL that might bring Wes back in play.

Maybe he should pursue a career as a LS- Patriot LS Joe Cardona makes like something like 1.2 year.
And the beauty of that position these days is that rules prohibit anyone from lining up on the LS- he's now a "defenseless player" so you can't hit him........what a job!!!!

Back in the day there were no restrictions whatsoever on taking your best shot at the LS. Long snappers accepted it and took the licks. My Golf game would be much better today if I didn't long snap. Ouch.

LS is a desired position these days- Coach Belechick was an accomplished LS at Wesleyan after being tutored by his father.
His son and current Pats coach Steve Belechick was LS at Rutgers on Ciano's prior Rutgers regime. (Nepotism and legacy runs strong in football families)

What a gig- They get to make the snap with no possibly of getting drilled- every young player should learn the skill- another opportunity to get on the field somewhere and/or enhance your value to recruiters at any level.

Note the Amherst-Miami Dolphins link. The connection was Don Shula and Amherst coach Ostendarp who played together on the NY Giants. They were great friends which paved the way for a number of Amherst guys in addition to those listed above to get a look from the Dolphins.

Jean Fugett / Amherst 1970s / Dallas and Redskins
Drafted: Bill Swiacki / Amherst 78 / drafted by Giants, played baseball for the Dodgers

crazy question anyone know who has gone on to the Pro's from NESCAC. The last one I remember was Mark Buben from Tufts back in the 80's

Not just that, he won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks . . .

Speaking of Middlebury-NFL guys I overlooked one......Beau Coash TE early 80's signed with the Patriots

Very cool - did not realize that.   Doug Swift was the middle linebacker on the "no name defense" and won a ring.   Jean Fugett's Cowboys made it to the Super Bowl but lost to the Steelers.

A few more updates to what continues to look like a really nice recruiting class for the Ephs.  Marvan looks like another good addition, Choate's captain who had a few low D1 offers in addition to Williams and Amherst.

Definitely some intriguing recruiting. QB McHugh remains a mystery as to what position he will be playing. He has a great arm and played in a super bowl. Holland the DE looks promising as does Barber the DE from Darian. Marvan was a real surprise had many Ivy league offers but chose Williams. He had an injury plagued career and must be anticipating playing right away if he can stay healthy should bolster the RB position. The QB position WR/DB still big question marks. Williams really went big this year seems like the highest recruiting class in years.

BigKat

As noted before by a few posters, tell me what their recruiting class was like two years for the relevancy of their success this upcoming year. Do they have a functional qb on the roster or any one that can separate and catch a ball on outside? that was their main problem last year. But congrats and best of luck to the young men coming in.

nescac1

I think if Williams had some secret skill position weapon on the existing roster, we likely would have seen him on the field by now -- especially after two different quarterbacks and a star TB went down to season-ending injuries.  I assume those two returning QBs will be in the mix for next year's QB job as well, but I would not be shocked if a first-year seizes the job in camp.  And we know Raymond is not afraid to play frosh -- that's been his M.O. since the Maimaron class came in.  Last year, by the end of the season, he was playing three frosh very heavy minutes in the secondary even though that unit was stacked with veteran players.

Heading into next year, the Eph offense has big question marks at QB, WR, C, G and TB depth. They return a solid pair of starting OTs and I like the Jaffe / Bedard pairing at TE, one a pass-catcher and one more of a blocker.   The returning receivers caught a grand total of 12 passes last year (they return only five receivers, total, and three did not catch a pass) so that is the most obvious area where first-years could certainly be in the mix early on.

Whether any frosh are able to steal one of these jobs from a returning veteran is an open question, but I'd bet we see at least a few recruits playing big roles on offense fairly early in the season.  As always with football this is wildly speculative, but the guys I'm keeping an eye out for are Renzella and McHugh at QB, Thorbahn at TB, Marvan at HB (although maybe he plays defense instead), Gering at WR, and Shames and Ingram at C.  Marvan reminds me of a Kyle Horihan type player and we know Raymond loves the versatility those guys bring.  Indeed, the Ephs have lots of dudes who seem to be versatile, multi-positional athletes coming in, and I'd bet someone from the Cotton/Bongo/Dlugos/Kennedy/Carroll group gets an early shot at WR as well.  The Ephs also some good athletes playing QB (both vets and incoming frosh), so depending on who wins that job, a few guys from that depth chart will almost surely end up as positional switches, most likely to S, LB or WR.

Obviously, you don't want to rely too much on frosh, but Fischetti is the only skill-position guy who seems absolutely locked into a starting job heading into next year (assuming he is at 100 percent to start the season).  So it's really hard to know what the Eph opening day lineup is going to look like, at least on the offensive side of the ball.

Ryan Paquette will be promoted to DC at Middlebury replacing Mandigo. OC job remains open so evidently Dave Caputi has departed.

Caputi I think is retiring that is intial rumors. This will hurt the Middlebury Offense as they were really hitting their stride at the end of the year. I have also heard Amherst looking for QB/WR Coach and Bowdoin looking for new DL Coach.
