Yes EJ Mills is going to run the ball and has been successful with that approach.

James O'Regan was a great WR at Amherst a few years back. He was a gifted receiver with great tools. He generated a lot of NFL interest but he flew under the radar a bit in the NESCAC  playing for the Mammoths. If he was at Middlebury or Wesleyan or another NESCAC team that is willing to go all in on the passing game he would have been a lot more productive.

Bill Parcells: "you can't win if you can't run the ball"......yet Bill Walsh and Andy Reid elect to throw it and have been successful with that approach. Different coaching philosophies.

I think EJ is from the Parcells school and he has done very well with that approach. Ritter saw the aerial game as his best chance to win in the NESCAC.

I can guarantee that at least one of us does.

The QB (Jernigan) is the easy observation to make.  Middlebury's 2019 receiving corps included Maxwell Rye, Maxim Bochman, Greg Livingston and Frank Cosolito.  Rye was the team leader in receptions (36) and yardage (601).  The other three's stats were very similar with yardage totals of 367, 355 and 353.  The TE in the group Frank Cosolito, who "carried that team" along with "the QB", garnered the smallest of those totals and of the 17 receiving TDs scored by the offense, contributed 2 of them.  Charlie, and a few others among you, this is the NESCAC.  Please learn to do your homework.

Not a NESCAC event but a very interesting D3 game will take place on Sept 22 at Endicott. Hardin Simmons, a perennially formidable D3 program from Abilene, Texas will travel to Beverly, Ma for a game with the Gulls.
Endicott has been ranked highly in the Northeast D3 polls in recent years. Interested to see how they measure up against a powerful program from the southwest.

The Mole

Not a surprise, but disappointing nevertheless. Hard to get gaudy stats to grab attention in just 9 games and no OOC contests.

Re-Revised top 3 NESCAC Position Groups 2023
QBs: Tufts, Trinity, Middlebury
WR:  Tufts, Middlebury Trinity
RBs: Trinity, Bowdoin, Colby
TEs: Hamilton, Wesleyan, ?
OL: Trinity, Tufts, Williams
DL: Wesleyan, Tufts, Middlebury
LBs: Colby, Tufts, Trinity
DBs: Tufts, Middlebury, Bowdoin
Punter:  Middlebury, Trinity, Tufts
K: Trinity, Williams, Middlebury

Have to wonder how much this list changes when the starters are removed.

Totally hypothetical, but a team really looks different when QB #2/3 have to take over & when a backup center &/or #2 Offensive Line is called up to fill in...depth at those spots is huge, maybe more than most positions.

Seems like backup & #3 WR's & RB's fare pretty well when paired with QB1 & O Line1. (only based on my past experience)

Sure the same can be said for Defensive side of the ball, I just always look at Offense...(former High School OC...I can't help it...but I'm trying to quit!)

BigKat

Not a terrible list and hard to make a huge argument against most positions. Not sure I agree with the DB list and the specialists aren't in the right order if you purely look at stats last year.

Looking forward to a fun season. Could be 3-4 teams in the mix.
