Here's the Amherst-Bates preview (from the Amherst website):

The Amherst roster is also posted on the Amherst website - Jean Fugett's son is definitely on the team as is the speedy 6'6" WR from West Virginia (Ben Kettering).

Bowdoin is hanging surprisingly tough against Williams so far but it's early in the game. No score after one period but with the statistical edge to Bowdoin . .

Col. Partridge

Wesleyan down 17-10 to Midd at the half.  Other scores announced were Bowdoin and Williams tied at 14, Trinity was winning vs. Colby and Amherst winning vs. Bates.

Williams so far: four turnovers (including one at the goaline), two missed field goals (one very short) and a personal foul.  Really shooting themselves in the foot / playing sloppy.

Make it five turnovers.  Williams is in big trouble, which you'd expect when the star K misses two field goals, star QB throws three picks including one at the goaline, and the star RB coughs it up twice when the offense was really moving the ball.  Ughh.

Bowdoin-Williams still tied at 14-14 with about 9 minutes to go in the 4th period.

Bowdoin just returned a INT for a TD, 28-14.  Bizarre call, going for it on 4-10 on their own turf with plenty of time left.  Five straight turnovers for Williams, total collapse.

I knew that it I should not have mocked my older brother this week pointing out that he was on the last Bowdoin team to beat Williams in 1979.  The only thing worse than having to work on a Saturday is having to listen to this game.

It's a final in Brunswick!!! Perhaps the upset of the year:

Bowdoin 28 Williams 14

Col. Partridge

Wesleyan loses 24-10.  Middlebury took opening kickoff in for score.  Wesleyan fumbled twice within the red zone, once at the goal line. Very frustrating to watch.

Williams stats are here: http://williams.prestosports.com/sports/fball/2007-08/stats/bowdoin.htm

and they speak for themselves....6 interceptions and 3 fumbles, 2 lost, totally negate the Ephs' advantage in the offensive stats. Was Lucey's injured foot affecting his throws today, or were his new receivers just not in sync with him and running bad routes?

Bants win 20-0 @ Colby... sloppy game by both teams. 6 turnovers by both teams.

SHOCKED that the Ephs lost today. Congrats to the Bears on a big win! That has to be the biggest NESCAC upset since Bates won at Williamstown in 2003.
