With those spreads, I'm taking all underdogs... with one exception.

Hamilton will be able to score on Wes and the cards lack of a running game will allow the Conts to play well against a 1-dimensional offense. I like Hamilton at home 14-7.

The Bears aren't sneaking up on the Jeffs, especially not at Pratt. Amherst won't turn the ball over 8 times in a half but this game will be close. Jeffs pull it out 17-14.

Middlebury won't be able to run on Colby the way they did on Wes. That puts a lot of pressure on a freshman QB. I like the Mules in a upset 14-10.

Tufts plays alot like Amherst; good running game and a tough defense. They aren't as talented as the Jeffs so the Bobbies have a shot. It won't be enough though as the Jumbos win on the road 20-10

And finally...

The Bants avenge last years embarassing loss in Willamstown with a convincing 21-7 victory.

Wesleyan beat Hamilton 10-9 as they take a safety to run out the clock at the end.  A push versus my spread.

I see on the NESCAC website that Colby is getting smoked...any updates from other games?

nescac1

Williams fumbles snap on extra point with ten seconds left, game tied at 30, 9 seconds left Trinity ball, barring a miracle going to OT.   Very even game throughout.   Missed FG and xp by Williams, but Trinity also had an xp blocked.

Bowdoin plummets back to earth:

Amherst 30 Bowdoin 6

Ridiculous rushing stats for both teams but in different ways - 331 yards on the ground for for Amherst and only 23 yards rushing for Bowdoin

nescac1

Triple OT.  Williams had 4th and 10 from the 25 and scored a TD to tie it in double OT.  Ridiculous game, too bad one of these teams will have to lose ...

The final score from Hartford:

Trinity 46 Williams 40 (3OT)

Here's a story from the Williams website that gives a sense of what an incredible game it was:

The Trinity-Williams game was the best game I have ever seen live. There were so many incredible plays and outstanding performances by both teams. I was very impressed with Lucy and Williams overall. This is likely the best 0-2 team the NESCAC has ever produced.

It was a fantastic scene in Hartford, with 8,000+ fans packed into a 6,500 seat stadium watching two great teams battle it out. Watching the Trinity players and fans swarm the field after Joe Clark's scored his 4th touchdown to win the game was reminiscent of the legendary 1991 Trinity-Williams game.

As nescac1 said, it was a shame someone had to lose. I'm glad it wasn't the Bants... 24 straight wins in the Coop and counting.

Also, I had to mention this astounding statistic: The Trinity defense has allowed 81 points in their last 2 games against Williams. In their previous 26 games against the rest of the NESCAC they have allowed a combined 83 points!

That sounds like a legendary game.  I knew the Ephs weren't going to just lie down after being shown up the week before.

Looking over the NESCAC statistics, a couple of things jumped out at me.
1)  Colby hasn't scored any points yet.   What is going on there?  At this point, they look like the worst team in the league.

2)  Amherst has two RBs averaging 100+ yds/game.  There were some question marks there after the Jeffs graduated their QB, but it looks like they have a solid ground game this year.

3)  If I was listening to the webcast correctly, Hamilton is rotating in three different quarterbacks?  Must be hard to establish a groove doing that.

redtail

hamilton situation is pretty bad.  It was almost embarassing to see 3 different QB's before midway thruogh the 1st qtr.  3 QB's, 2 freshman RB's that have to run slants all the time because o-line can't  run block.  I'm afraid could be a  long year - 0 or 1 win.  D is playing awesome, but on the field too much.  This week @ Trinity could get out of hand

It's almost NESCAC Gameday...I'm busy running the computer models, calculating the spreads for Week 3.  Last week, if you took the favorites you would have lost no money, with two games being pushes (including the epic Trinity-Williams game).  Captain's game of the week is Middlebury at Amherst.

Will check in later...
