No way Wes finishes ahead of Trinity and Amherst, unless Trinity loses its entire team to graduation ...

2008 Trinity football should be feared by all in NESCAC except for Colby which Trinity does not play in 2008 and except for Connecticut College which does not field a football team.

Not to pick an argument with a former pro scout or anything, but Frank, I seem to recall you saying that Trinity would have one of the best teams in NESCAC history last year, or something like that?  Isn't losing their only reliable running back, their top receiver, and all of those multi-year all conference guys from the offensive and defensive lines going to knock them down a peg or two?  (Which is not to argue that anyone should take them lightly, but hard to put them comfortably above the other top 2-3 teams at this point -- as they've been in years past -- right?)

That being said, in terms of pre-season favorites for conference player of the year, Eric McGrath has to be number one, followed by Brian Morrissey.  DPY, who knows?  Most of the top guys from last year are gone ...

Frank, any idea who will be QB for Williams next year, and how much of a drop off from Lucey should be expected?

Ooops my bad on trinity. I have them slotted behind Wesleyan. Lost a lot this year on their line.

I give that a zero % chance of happening.

I don't want to sound like a homer here, but there's a reason why Williams and Trinity are almost always in the top 3 teams in the league. Year in and year out, they get the best players. It's true that Trin loses a ton up-front on both sides of the ball but they have talent that will fill in.

Also, McGrath is a serious POY candidate and I predict RB Ollie Stanes will have a huge year for the Bants. Their defense is always one of the best in the league, and as I mentioned previously, they play all of their difficult games besides Williams at home.

I agree that this season may provide the best portrayal of the long awaited NESCAC parity but Wes will once again finish 4-4 MAYBE 5-3, while Trin will end up 6-2 with a shot at 7-1 (and will beat the Cards by the usual 3 touchdowns).

Midd could repeat, but it will be interesting to see how they deal with having the target on their backs. Having to play @ Williams and @ Trinity could make it tough.

I think Tufts is over-rated and see them dropping back down to 5-3 after an fantastic, yet over-achieving season in '07.

Amherst, could make a title run if they can get anything out of the QB position.

Also, all this talk about replacing Lucey at Williams is much ado about nothing.  Doesn't anyone remember this same conversation after the Ephs lost Joe Reardon? Who did they replace him with again... oh that's right Pat Lucey. Williams (like Trin) will simply reload from their stockpile of talent and keep on rolling to the top of the NESCAC standings.

This year's Trinity team is the best of the last 8 years and possibly much before. It can shut out Hamilton without donning athletic supporters.

This was the only thing I could find that was close to nescac1's recollection.

That was the one I was thinking of -- since Trinity had a series of totally dominant 8-0 teams in the past eight years, my recollection was not much of a stretch ... to be fair, that was pretty much the conventional wisdom on Trinity last year (I figured they'd be AT WORST 7-1), given how much talent they had returning (especially on each line), I don't know that anyone pictured them being a Williams missed extra point away from three losses ...

Gleason followed Reardon as Williams' starting QB, not Lucey. Gleason started 11 games consecutively. NESCAC1: what I said about Trinity's prospects for 2008 is not necessarily inconsistent with what you have said.

Gleason was the starter in 2004 but Lucey did play in 7 of 8 games. Regarless, the point stands that Williams will not have a difficult a time finding a very capable QB.

Trin8: Tell Mike Whalen that Williams won't have trouble finding an effective QB this year. Then he will sleep better.

Does anyone else think Tufts is overrated?

Considering you're currently on the Tufts roster is this a request for bulletin board material or are you actually just curious?

I know a kid that plays for Tufts.  He told me that they are going to win the league easily this year.  He also told me to let the other programs to "watch out", as Tufts football is here to stay.......

Could be a relative. BBH would be one heck of a summer internship!

Yea I am interning for BBH and all I do is look at a computer screen all day which is why I've been posting on these boards to keep some of my sanity. But I'm for real I actually wanted to know whether other people agreed with you.
