Speaking from Williams point of view as a former player, I can't think of any playoff game that would be more meaningful than a Williams-Amherst game, especially one like last Saturday's.

How about a win over Mount Union? Would that mean anything?
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

He's got a point. Ole Groseph remembers that one year where St. Matthew's finally beat St. Luke's... even though they had to bring in that ringer Green at QB. It was a truly smashing victory over those rapscallions at Luke's.

My guess is that the Williams-Amherst game is more exciting then the standard polo or cricket matches that they are used to...

I think it's exactly this week every year that everybody charges the NESCAC board to F' with them.  These guys NEVER bother anyone....NEVER complain about lack of respect or what they could do if given a bid to the NCAA's.

I just find it funny that every year when playoff bids come out, everyone charges the NESCAC board to tell them how elitist they are and how much they suck.

+1 to Utah for the scariest pussycat I've ever seen.

I would just like the football players to be able to play NINE regular season games and to play EVERY team in the conference. But it is kind of funny with all the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS the NESCAC has won in all the other sports that the Presidents will only allow 8 football games. Even if they played 9 games that is four more games they could have played over the course of their careers.

Gro loves football as much as he hates pants. So... it always saddens me when admins/coaches/players want LESS football. Be it a 7 game schedule (rediculas... my frosh team in HS played 7 games), or schools opting out of the playoffs or ECACs. The "beating your rival in the last game" argument is frequently used by Ithaca as their reason for not playing ECAC games.

By the way, why do people outside of NESCAC get so concerned over the fact that NESCAC football doesn't go to the playoffs?

I would be interested in Amherst alums and players comments on this.  Since Amherst is the NESCAC champion, you would probably play someone like Maine Maritime or Curry this year, the leaders in the NEFC.  Would you honestly be pumped up to play them?  Not a knock on either team, it's just a matter of tradition.  By the way after seeing both conferences play this season, I'd pick the Jeffs, or Trinity, or Williams.

Simple, because the NESCAC's nose is jammed so far up it's......ah you're right who gives a **** about a conference that CHOOSES to isolate itself from the rest of nation in only one sport  ;).

Big difference between not wanting to play in the playoffs and not wanting to play in the DIII NIT.

That's how I see it. Play as many games as you can.
