Interesting topic with respect to the Wes football coach vacancy.  I do not think the former Yale coach who still "works" for Yale would return to DIII.  He does have respect for the NESCAC.  I think he has a daughter at Williams in the senior class.....same name and from CT and plays field hockey.  Can any Williams members confirm?
When the coach left WPI, he brought much of his staff to Amherst.  The present head coach and offensive coord. at Amherst worked for him at WPI.  For many selfish reasons, I do hope the Amherst offensive coord. applies for the job and gets it.  The Amherst lost Wes in the 14-13 game (I was there) was a bad call by the head coach who went for a fourth down play vice a sure field goal that would have given Amherst a 17-0 lead.
My opinion is based on following him at Yale and having football playing friends that plays golf with him.

Another scenario.......Walsh left Tufts 2 years ago to follow his former head coach (Sied) to Yale.  It was suprising at the time since he was Asst. HC and and very successful as Def Coord for the Jumbos.  When Sied retired last year, Walsh wasn't retained and ended up this past year as head coach at one of the Western MA prep schools.  Is he a candiate for Wes?

Trinity defensive coordinator Lew Acquarulo would be a great candidate for the job.  I'd hate to see him leave Trin, but he'd do a great job turning around Wes.

Here's his bio from the Trinity athletics website:
Lewis Acquarulo begins begins his fifth season as an assistant coach with the Bantams and his fourth as the defensive coordinator. He also coaches the linebackers and coordinates the kicking game. In his first year as defensive coordinator, the Bantams led the nation in scoring defense (6.8 points allowed per game) and total defense (160.0 yards allowed per game), and finished second nationally in pass efficiency defense (73.2 opponent efficiency rating). In 2007, Acquarulo's unit finished atop the league rankings in total defense, rushing defense, and sacks. Acquarulo's rushing defense ranked 15th nationally in 2008 (86.88 yards/game) and Trinity allowed just 140 points to tie for first in the NESCAC. The Bantams have held six of eight opponents under 18 points in both 2007 and 2008. Acquarulo has coached 13 All-NESCAC defensive players in the last two years, including 2008 NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year Tyler Berry.

Acquarulo arrived at Trinity in 2005 after serving as the defensive coordinator and strength and conditioning coordinator at the University of Rochester from 2001 to 2004. Prior to Rochester, Acquarulo coached the outside linebackers and special teams at the University of Pennsylvania for three years, linebackers and special teams at Southern Connecticut State University for two years, and the defensive line and linebackers at Union College. He was also the strength coach at both Southern Connecticut and Union.

Acquarulo earned a bachelor's degree from Union in 1994, where he helped the football team win an ECAC Championship, earn two NCAA championship bids, and post undefeated seasons in 1991 and 1993 as a starting defensive lineman. He and his wife, JoAnn, and their children, Lindsay, 6, and Jake, 2, reside in New Britain, Conn.

Part of the problem going to the defensive side of the ball is that Coach Hauser was also the OC, QB, and HC. The DC is already doing a great job at Wes. They would have to add coaches to the offense if they went in that direction.
Walsh and Acquarulo would make excellent candidates otherwise.

Acquarulo is no longer the defensive coordinator at trin. has been replaced by xxxxxxx.

I don't think that is accurate. Where did you hear that?

For all Amherst fans, there is special DVD documentary of the 2009 Lord Jeff undefeated season available for purchase. The DVD also includes a copy of the NESN-broadcasted Amherst/Williams game. I didn't go to any NESCAC football games this year and I only won money on one game, but this is a pretty cool idea for those interested.

I have heard this is not currently accurate either, so I have removed the post.

Regarding NEFC Coaching interest... gotta believe the Endicott HFC (Wells) is putting in for the job.  Graduate of Trinity, and was probably snuffed when Devanney replaced Priore at Trinity after the 2005 season.

Jeff Mcdonald post is not accurate because he has not assumed position yet. He did tell some wesleyan players he had accepted position at trinity. however there are rumors he is going to apply for the wesleyan head job. just to clear things up

Need to add my two-bits to the post on the Amherst Football DVD on the 2009 season.  The purchase of the DVD will support the JeffCast effort at Amherst.  The webcast effort at Amherst is going into its second season and hopes are to expand the webcasting to more sports and more seasons.  Amherst webcasts are free to date!

FYI The Real World Washington D.C. season premiere airs tonight. The only reason this bears mentioning is because one of the cast members is former Trinity football player Tyrell Ruff. Hopefully he won't do anything too embarassing.

A few recruiting updates.  Heard this guy is going to Williams, but not confirmed:

http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=58816&season=2009

He was conference player of the year at Phillips Exeter as a PG rushing for nearly 2000 yards.  Williams only had three RB's on the roster last year and one is a rising senior, so this was definitely an area of need ...

Amherst meanwhile has two strong incoming players from the same high school.  They also got a stellar big RB it sounds like:

Any more information on the Wesleyan coaching vacancy? I have a nephew who is considering the school and would love to get a idea who the new man will be.

Williams, it seems, continues to bolster its running back corps.  With Malo graduating after next year and only two other RB's on the roster, no surprise that this has been a point of emphasis.  Both Scyocurka and LaPointe sound like guys who could earn PT early in their time at Williams.

I think you mean Lupo, not Malo. Malo is a current Williams wrestler of considerable note also due to graduate in '11.
