Saw a great story on E:60 this morning about Middlebury and "Picking Up Butch".

What a super tradition and excellent representation of D3 athletics!!
National Champions - 13: 1993, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2017

Samko leaving Tufts after 17 years.  Always was a defense first, grind it out offense-type until the past few years when his teams became pass first, what's a defense? type team.....ever since Walsh left as DC.  Will be interesting to see who ends up there.  Go Jumbos.

I'd also be very interested in seeing where Coach Samko ends up.  He's a great personality and I hope he ends up in a spot where he can prosper.

Interesting story (non football related) about Tufts that I heard on the news this morning:

We are new to this and would like some constructive feedback on my sons skills so we can assess what schools to apply to, he has a youtube video jeremy moskow, if a few readers would look and tell us what d3 schools might suit him we would appreciate it.

The best, most often cited advice, is to start with the academics first and limit your search to those schools which offer the program or programs your son is most interested in pursuing vocationally (I was glad Alfred had a business school along with liberal arts about 3 semesters in).  Also, if he wants to play any additional sports, that can help to cull the list.

K-Mack started a great thread on this which should help you and your son think about the process in depth.

Once you've got the other priorities in order, then we can help identify schools that meet your criteria.

One more thing you need to think about.  Make sure you have whole game tapes.  Coaches are not going to be interested in highlight tapes, as basically everyone looks good on a highlight tape.  They want to see the good and the bad, especially at the high school level.

moskowe,
Jonny Labcoat is not a blowhard....he is actually a high school football coach here in MA.

(I guess he kind of is a blowhard though)

Dr. Labcoat is right, tough to tell much from a highlight real (although the kid does like to hit).

The bigger issue is the choice of "Party in the USA" as the soundtrack. Miley Cyrus? Really? That raises more concerns than his playing.

moskowe

The wife hated the soundtrack as well, but........................

maxpower

no, no, i am REALLY interested in what comes after the "but......"

your WIFE hated the miley cyrus song, but you and your stud football playing kid just had to have it?

(i mean, i like the song, but we're not talking about me.)

moskowe

well there is no accounting for taste brother, just looking for a bit of help sorry to offend you
