There may be movement on the Wesleyan staff, supposedly Jeff McDonald (LB / Special Teams / Recruiting) interviewed for the head coaching position at Fairleigh Dickinson University last week.

OK, should I really do this, God?  Should I?!

Fine, go check Sox76's email address for yourselves...

Congratulations Jeff!

That was kind of funny.  I mean, what does he benefit by even posting that?  And would a d3 position coach really be in the contention for a d3 head coaching job?

Bios for some greater-Boston area football scholar athletes:

http://www.boston.com/sports/schools/football/articles/2011/05/08/extended_scholar_athletes_bios/?page=1

Zack Bartlett, Xaverian Brothers High School

A two-year starter at running back and linebacker, Bartlett stood out on both sides of the ball for one of the top programs in the state. He earned Catholic Conference All-Star honors his senior year as Xaverian finished 8-3. Academically, he took the most demanding schedule offered at Xaverian, including three AP courses as a junior. He is interested in medicine and will continue his football career at Wesleyan.

Coach's comment: "[Zack's] play in the middle of our defense helped our team to have one of the most highly regarded defenses in the state.'' – Charlie Stevenson

Jack Carrier, Cohasset High School

A Shore Shore League All-Star his senior year, Carrier was a two-year starter at wide receiver and defensive back. Last fall he caught 10 touchdown passes, second best in Division 3A. He's also the senior class treasurer and sports editor of the school paper. Academically, he's a member of the National Honor Society and ranked No. 9 in a class of 100. He will attend Bowdoin.

Coach's comment: "Jack stands out as one of the top student-athletes I have encountered here at CHS. Jack is a model student, who is always smiling, prepared and ready to zealously take on any given task.''

Nathan Crary, Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School

The size of Crary's accomplishments almost matches his immense physical stature. The 6-6, 305-pound two-way lineman and team captain started three years for the Dolphins and earned Atlantic Coast League All-Star honors. D-Y went 10-1 this fall led by Crary, who opened holes on the line so that the Dolphins could average almost 34 ppg. Academically, he's ranked 15th in a class of 209. This fall he will attend Tufts.

Coach's comment: "I know that Nate will be extremely successful in whatever path he chooses to pursue. His commitment to finding ways to succeed is unparalleled." – Paul Funk

Ned Deane, Andover High School

The Golden Warriors won the Merrimack Valley Conference title for the first time in 35 years this fall, led by Dean, a three-year starter at tight end, fullback, and linebacker. Andover's captain, Dean made more than 140 tackles this year, including 6 sacks and an interception. He had 14 catches from tight end, and led an offense that ran for more than 2,500 yards. Academically, he's ranked in the top 9 percent of his class and scored a 780 on the math portion of the SAT. He will attend Amherst.

Coach's comment: "Ned is the most deserving and qualified individual that I have ever endorsed for a distinction of this magnitude. Ned's character is of the highest level." -- E.J. Perry

Louis Hunt, Belmont Hill School

Whether it was playing the piano, leading a school organization, or stopping an opposing running back, Hunt was always at the top of his game. An All-ISL receiver and safety, Hunt was a big part of a Belmont Hill team that finished the year 6-2. This spring he's the captain of the baseball team. He also is head or co-head of Peer leaders, Prom Committee and Work Crew (which helps local elders with household chores). And he also plays the violin as well as the piano in a rock band. He'll attend Amherst.

Coach's comment: "[Louis] has strong character and is a real leader of many organizations in the Belmont Hill community. He is a great example of the student-athlete whom everyone respects and wants to emulate." – Kevin Fleming

Daniel Johnson, North Attleboro High School

A two-year starter at running back and defensive back, Johnson was named to the Boston Herald All-Scholastic team this fall. The Hockomock All-Star was also named to the Mass Football Coaches All-State team. Johnson led North Attleboro in rushing, scoring, and kick returns and the team finished 10-1. He also set a school record for yards-per-carry of 11.8 and for total kick return yards in a season. In a class of 268, he is ranked No. 4. He will attend Bowdoin.

Coach's comment: "[Dan] has been a great role model in the classroom, on the playing field, and in the community. He has a tremendous work ethic and is a positive influence on his teammates, classmates, and friends." – Don Johnson

Denis Maguire, Duxbury High School

A Patriot League All-Star, Maguire was part of a Duxbury team that won the Patriot title and went on to take the Division 2A Super Bowl crown at Gillette Stadium. A starter at tight end, outside linebacker and defense end, Maguire began the year on special teams and finished as one of the key players on a championship team. He was the Green Dragons defensive MVP, part of a unit that gave up just 11 points per game. A member of the National Honor Society, he is also a talented saxophonist and has played at Carnegie Hall and Epcot center. He will attend Bowdoin.

Coach's comment: "Denis puts in the extra time and effort to become the best athlete possible. On the gridiron Denis is a menace, but off the field his peers refer to him as D-ice." – Dave Maimaron

Kyle McGuire, Mansfield High School

A Hockomock League All-Star and three-year starter on one of the most successful programs in the state, McGuire made his presence felt on the offensive and defensive lines. He led Mansfield to the Division 2 Super Bowl title and was named to the Boston Herald and Boston Globe All-Scholastic teams and was named to the Shriners team. McGuire was captain of the football and wrestling teams and is a member of the National Honor Society. He is ranked No. 29 in a class of 378. He will attend Trinity.

Coach's comment: "Kyle was an outstanding role model in our program as an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society. He truly represents all the positive qualities we attempt to develop in our students." – Mike Redding

A member of the National Honor Society, Noonan ranks in the top 20% percent of his class. He will attend Hamilton.

Chris Tamasi, Xaverian Brothers High School

Three-year starter, two-time Catholic Conference All-Star, and a Boston Globe and Herald All-Scholastic, Tamasi was one of the top players in the state this fall. Xaverian finished 8-3 led by Tamasi, who was team captain and played both running back and linebacker. Anthony Todesco, Mansfield High School

The Hornets celebrated a Division 2 Super Bowl title at Gillette Stadium and the Hornets' success started with an outstanding line led by Todesco, a two-year starter at tackle. In his senior year, Todesco was named a Hockomock League All-Star as Mansfield rushed for more than 3,000 yards and scored more than 400 points. Off the field, Todesco is a member of the National Honor Society and is ranked 38th out of class of 378. He will attend Bowdoin.

Saw Middlebury is advertising for a DC...Where did Steve Monniger go?

amh63

The Fall football schedules are coming out now.  Middlebury has announced its schedule on its athletic website.  On the NESCAC website under football, the conference schools schedules can be found when you roll down the "schedule" box.  Amherst starts with Bates this year.  I wanted to attend the Hamilton game in Clinton, but it is not to be this year.  Oh well, will have to attend a dull Ivy game when I go visit my daughter in Ithaca this Fall.
