A pretty safe rule to follow for this, or any other, fan message board: post a video or info on a kid if he is actually being recruited by and/or interested in a school that is being discussed on that message board.  If you are posting the same video on both an Alabama and a NESCAC board, you are wasting the time of at least one group of board regulars, because there is no way any viable Alabama recruit is considering a NESCAC program.  It's not too hard to find about a million recruiting videos of high school kids playing football.  I really don't care (nor does virtually anyone else) unless those videos somehow relate to the college team we follow, at least potentially.

So I guess the question is, is this kid being actively recruited by any NESCAC schools?  If not, why is the video posted here, exactly?

That might be your rule but I don't know if its one that is widely observed.  I am a big time high school and college football fan and I am thrilled to see any high school video of kids with extraordinary talent and potential and am grateful to anyone who brings it to my attention, no matter where it is unveiled.

You might also want to check your facts for recruiting.  I know for sure that there are NESCAC football players who have received D1 offers.

That's an inaccurate statement.

Utah, we'll need to catch a Tufts game this year...

I'm just curious about these highlight tapes.  Here is a kid I coached the last two years.  Does he look like nescac material?  (He was interested in nescac schools so I don't want it to seem like I'm throwing out highlight tapes)

Kid has a cannon, but he throws like it's a baseball.  Needs to work on those mechanics.  Pretty good footwork for a HS kid.  Looks like a heck of an athlete anyway.  I could see him in the NESCAC/E8/LL.

Jonny Utah

Or how about this kid? (ended up going to Hobart, played CB for a year and left the team).

QB from that year actually going to Middlebury (transferred to BBN and repeated a year)

Last I heard he was prepping.  A lot of college coaches told him he was too short to play QB (even at d3) and the mechanics are a little wierd.

While I'm at it, I might as well throw out a nescac recruit for next year.  Tape of Middlebury QB recruit Eric Bertino.  (You have to listen to coach Pappas first)

(At 02:29 watch him torch Iamhuges almamater)

Looks like a good player to me...too bad he left Hobart.

He is still there.  Just gave up football to concentrate on school.  Great kid.

Always a good decision.

iamhuge, you are misquoting me.  Yes, NESCAC players have received D-1 offers, of course.  I would seriously, seriously doubt that any NESCAC player has ever received a football scholarship offer from Alabama, however.  Feel free to correct me, anyone, but I feel confident about this one.  NESCAC hoops is at a higher level than NESCAC football, relative to D-1, and you never see NESCAC hoops player who receive serious recruiting interest above, at the very best, a mid-major level, and it is rare (not unheard of, but very rare) for ANY NESCAC players, in football or basketball, to receive D-1 full rides, but turn them down, even from lower-tier D-1 schools.  In retrospect, of course, some would have deserved them ... but I don't think even the best players in NESCAC would have a prayer of seeing PT at Alabama, other then once-in-a-generation guys like Ethan Brooks who are overlooked due to a late growth spurt or something like that.

In all events, folks got pretty annoyed with you on the Alabama boards, even blocking one of your threads as far as I can see, so I am not alone.  This is a place for a discussion of NESCAC football.  There are plenty of other places to discuss NFL players, high school players, pee wee football players, ultimate frisbee players, or Stratego players, I'm quite sure.  If you are going to post a video of a player, I suggest it be someone with some sort of current or potential link to NESCAC, absent something truly unusual.  Since you apparently have a son at a NESCAC school now, I'm sure you will have plenty to talk about on-point, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Jumbos, or anything else NESCAC related, here.
