What was/were Trevor's reason(s) for the transfer, though?  What was it about F&M that turned him off, or what was it about Tufts that made what is honestly a giant move (a college transfer) so appealing here?

I guess you'd have to ask him.  Probably too much info to share with the world.  I know missing the entire football season wasn't much fun....but sadly that happens to lots of kids.

I thought you were his official spokesperson?!  :-)

I guess it happens all the time.

Since Trevor is NESCAC material now, please define the indefinite pronoun "it" in your response.  Thank you.

Kids transferring schools...kind of watching TV with a remote control and an Iphone in your hand...if you don't like what's going on this 10 seconds you change the channel and text your friends.

That would suggest that in this region, including Pennsylvania, the freshman retention rate is in the 80+% range (and that probably is low for the purposes of this discussion since state schools, which appear to be grouped into those numbers, account for transfer rates in excess of private schools) -- So, it's not as common as you're suggesting it to be.

Congratulions to Trinity's Mickey Kobrosky'37 who was inducted into the College Hall of Fame in South Bend Indiana this past weekend.  The late Trinity graduate is the college's first football player so honored.  More specifics on his playing career are posted on the conference website.

More notes before the arrival of first year students in late August for orientation.  Nescac1 posted earlier info on the freshmen football players for Williams.  Somewhat surprised that the website would include the freshmen on the preliminary '11 roster.
Just found out that the Wes. football website has also listed the incoming freshmen football players on the prel. '11 roster.  There are 34 first year players listed with at least 3 OB's and lots of RB's and DB's and a bunch of big OL candidates.  There are over 90 plus players listed.....initial and only count was 94 players.  It is also noted that the "Jersey" numbers excluded started in the 60's.  Under the new management, no exclusion of lower numbers.
Alas, Amherst's football website does not have any listed first year players yet.   Do not expect any to be listed until start of allowed practice in September.  Do know that there is one lineman from the DC suburbs in the Class '15.....not a football school though...but a top academic school.

A few of the NJ incoming frosh are very good.

Props.

Just saw the E60 ESPN story on Picking Up Butch and Middlebury. I'm guessing it was a rerun so this probably isn't news but it was new to me.

Simply well done Middlebury. I've definitely become a fan.

34 frosh at Wesleyan?  Wow (by comparison, Williams has 24).  To no one's surprise, it seems like the Wesleyan admin is really focused on supporting the program (promises must have been made to lure he and Dicenzo away from the Ephs).  Not to mention, the all-star coaching staff they brought in to help out.  Wesleyan will be at worst in the top three of NESCAC football by 2012 at this rate.  Still have a long way to go to catch Trinity and Williams though, and Amherst is still formidable as well ...

Only 75 guys can make the final roster, so Wesleyan will be making a LOT of cuts this summer.

Wesleyan has really amped up its high-profile men's sports teams in recent years, with men's soccer, lacrosse, and basketball also all making major strides.  I guess they got tired of getting beat up by Amherst and Williams in the Little Three contests.

With a league limit of 75 on the roster, do the schools keep some kids ready to add to the roster in case of injury or ineligibility?  Sort of like a practice squad or JV?

PistachioX

Trinity had a large recruiting class of 34, as well.  With a cap of 75, some kids ...maybe even upper classmen...won't make the cut.

Knightstalker......cannot give you a definitive response to your question.  Must point out that the 75 player limit was made by the conference presidents to "even the playing field" somewhat in that there was a majority of the schools unable to maintain larger squads.  The top football schools like Trinity, Williams, Amherst and Midd.(?) consistently dressed teams in the high 80's.  Therefore, there is no conference wide JV schedule.
PistachioX.....thanks for the info.  Went to the Trinity website and it seems that, at present, Trinity has made some decisions.  I counted 74/5 listed players with a large number of soph's. and a small number of FY players.  Thought I maybe mistaken.....but with running back Bunker listed as a soph., I figure it was the latest roster.   Trinity's Bunker was the runner that ran all over Amherst as a freshman last year.  He out ran his Amherst older brother on the field.

I have a feeling Tufts will run the ball more this year.
