I take your point, Frank regarding chemistry.  I honestly don't have any idea how we will approach a scrimmage with Wes.  We will be working on getting it all together this week and next so we can be ready for Williams.  JUST KIDDING Colby.....  I have a good friend who has a senior starter there.  Heck, it's Friday and sunny and cool.  Let's play some football.

I sure wish NESCAC would change things up.  Love to scrimmage someone else.  Heck. MIT already had a game!  It makes me puke in my mouth.  Sorry.  I'm new.  I hope it's ok to say puke.

When it comes to NESCAC's limit on the length and composition of schedules, "puke" fits.

Just got back from the Bowdoin vs. Tufts night scrimmage.  I'd say the play was fairly spirited with both teams somewhat inconsistent.  Nice crowd on hand.

Speaking of NESCAC in the news, Williams was in the top 5 of deadspin's douchiest college football schools today!

It's an honor to even be nominated ....

Anyone check out the Williams-Amherst scrimmage?

Trinity/Wes scrimmage was interesting.  Wes was pretty fired up and enjoyed the most success but Trin did not play a lot of starters.  I don't mind Wes getting better cause it only makes Trin better and the seasons more enjoyable. BUT, based upon who played and what Trin did on offense, Wes seemed a little too high.

The Amherst-Williams scrimmage tended to indicate that Williams needs substantislly more work than Amherst.

Frank, any particular issues you noticed?  The Ephs often seem to start the season slowly, then find their groove: which wouldn't be so much of an issue if they didn't play Trinity week two every year (but of course, serves them well in the Little Three).

Of course the team currently has certain strengths and shortcomings, which for more than one reason I am reluctant to discuss here.

Trin9-0

I wasn't at the Trin-Wes scrimmage but from what I was told Trinity played exactly zero starters and it showed. The Cardinals clearly outplayed the Bants and appeared quite pleased with themselves. Apparently it got a little chippy towards the end which may add a little something to the November 12th contest.

It's good to see the rivalry getting a little more juice. It's been 10 years since Wesleyan beat Trinity but the Cards nearly pulled the upset in both '09 and '10. Could this be the year Wesleyan contends for a shot at the NESCAC title?

Trinity did lose several key players to injury in last year's scrimmage so I can't fault the strategy. Though, it is a little disconcerting that the back-ups were pushed around so decisively as many will need to play significant roles this year.

It'll be interesting to see if Trin shows any signs of rust against Colby.

Trinity has 32 Freshman on their pre-75 man roster.  Any disappointment in the play at the scrimmage must be tempered by the fact that a lot of kids were being looked at.  This frosh class is pretty good, it would seem.  Trinity has strength on D and O and in skilled positions they have depth.

Trinity should not be scrimmaging Wes for about ten reasons.  Last year's injuries is just one major issue.  Coach is preparing his team for the season.  Wes is doing its thing but they acted like they were in a different place, developmentally.

I for one, do not expect to see any rust at Colby.  Trin8-0, Wes "won" the scrimmage but Trin was not there to win and it was not soooo one sided.

I guess it is not likely to have Frank U. give even a hint of what he saw or heard at the Amherst-Williams scrimmage.  Just kidding Frank.  It really doesn't matter anyway.  The only hope here is that no player on either side is lost for the season....whether a FY or a starter.  The season starts this coming weekend!  Maybe by midweek, Amherst will post its 2011 roster.  Usually, the SID will give a lineup for the upcoming game by Thursday.  Here's hoping the SID is up to it this season.  To all the posters....Let the games begin and may the best teams prevail!
