Lumbercat, it's not just the NESCAC board that is slow. It seems all boards have slowed down. LLPP used to be one of the most active boards at D3--and we sometimes even talked about football. Now the board is dead. Mostly LD11, me, dlip, and guys from other boards poking their heads in to say hello.
Jobs, family, etc. the boards just ain't what they used to be.

I agree, most people lead even quicker lives than they did even 5 years ago. Everything is twitter/instant gratification. This used to be the only way to discuss D3 football but now there are multiple, plus I don't see many new people coming on, and the old guard slowly but surely disappearing.

Maybe things will pick up after the election?   Won't be many games left, though.

Yeah I guess you guys are right- just trying to get things going on this board which has been passionate and alot of fun in the past..... in reality this board has been dominated by Amherst and Williams so maybe it hasn't been as penetrating throughout the confernce  as I thought..............Never heard from any Middlebury, Bowdoin, Wesleyan people that I can think of so maybe many within the conference are not even aware of this forum---oh well, it's been fun interacting with the guys on this board and I will keep up my participation as it's a good group though it may be smaller than we think.
Good Luck to all tomorrow.

After the election the opportunities of all them political spin meisters will then have become limited to commenting on D3 football boards or to returning to their prior occupation of playing the banjo in the local house of joy.

lumbercat

any comments on the games tomorrow Frank?
At the risk of illicitng another carefully crafted, non sequeter type response I'll say that the board values your opinions and comments and would love to hear your thoughts on the games this week or current NESCAC football in general.... whats your take.....any thoughts ?

Lumbercat +k for trying to get some talk going. This is a big Saturday for some of our teams in our D3 world. Funny thought that has nothing to do with anything but dlip was just remembering his dad taking him out to Williams in the early 80's when Union and the Ephs used to have a bit of a rivalry. God my father used to despise Williams, because they were good and used to give the Dutch some battles.

I have been moving to Maine and then working 'off shore' away from my computah so I have not been able to make my contribution to the otherwise stimulating discussion.  I did get a real charge out of the sartorial splendor topic.

After our visit to the Black and White, not the Scotch, this pm I will try and pass on an impartial set of observations.

Banfan-
Short trip for you to Whittier fo you if you have completed your relocation, enjoy the game. Tell the Bants to go easy on the young Polar Bear Cubs. Look forward to your take on the game.

not too far off. Colby 32, Hamilton 29.  Another bizarre ending (last week Ham QB ran for 15 sec or so to run out the clock,no taking a knee, to great confusion by refs).
Today, Ham down by 3 with 30 secs or so left, Colby coach appeared to forget Ham had 3 TOs left, kept having QB kneel down.  defense called TOs,Mules only needed a first down to end game.
Instead turned ball over with about 20 secs left, Eck completed 2 long passes, before they could try FG two Ham players ran onto Colby sideline, penalty flags galore,   THREE restarts of FG play to tie game, then Colby TO, 0.05 added to clock, finally Ham kicker missed. Game over.  Long bus ride back to Clinton.

Banfan-
stats can be deceiving and I did not see the game but it looks like the Black and White held their own today...looks like they moved the football on the ground, better than anyone so far this year agaisnt the Bants??  This is my observation from afar only.... looking forward to your take on the game, let me know if I'm all wet on this- despite your blood allegiance to the Bants you usually do a good job with objectivity.

You got a big one next week with Middlebury...saw a good bit of Bates-Middlebury on the net. The Middlebury passing attack is just relentless. Bates moved the ball pretty well but just couldn't counter the Panthers passing attack despite picking Foote off twice. Middlebury RB Ashkar very underated.

The game of the year is next week in Hartford. You'll have a crowd of 8-10,000. It will be a classic. This Middlebury passing game will be a tall order for Trinity but Bantams should be able to run it well on Middlebury.

By the way the Middlebury internet feed is the best in the league. Clear, uniterrupted transmission, clear in full screen. Great camera work and top flite announcers who actually do their homework and call the players on both sides by name. Very enjoyable.

Contast the Colby broadcast today, just a mess. Colby doesn't even provide live stats on the net....upgrade needed on Mayflower Hill.

Would be great if all schools could produce quality web broadcasts like Middlebury.

The NESCAC app on my Iphone is great. We sat in the warm sun at the Tufts-Williams game and looked at live video and scores from the other NESCAC game in between plays. Staggered starting times between games makes this fun- can watch another game at halftime etc. while enjoying beverage at tailgate.

Tufts struggled again but put on a good show passing 95% of the time. Dodds can throw it but they just can't seem to sustain any consistency but they are very young. I think they have a shot at a W in two week with rebuilding Colby at home.

Panthernation

From Midd-Bates game review on our blog, after the Middlebury passing attack put up huge numbers once again (http://blogs.middlebury.edu/panthernation/2012/10/21/another-one-bates-the-dust/):
