Tufts highlights of the Jumbos 27-20 victory over Williams.
http://www.gotuftsjumbos.com/sports/fball/2014-15/releases/williams_highlights

Thoroughly enjoyed the highlights...thanks Mariner! A few observations:

1. We think Tufts easily has the ugliest uniforms in 'CAC.
2. What is that music in the background of the highlight film?
3. Nice crowd...congrats to Tufts on getting people out for the game...it is amazing what winning does.
4. Zach Trause is a great player...he could play on any team in the league....Tufts smartly tries to get him the ball as creatively and as many times as possible.
5. Nice play calling by OC Hauser...we especially liked the quads right bubble screen to Trause for the TD.
7. We can't believe how bad Williams is....shocking.

Additional questions wrt to the Tufts highlight video.
Saw a number of topless men students on the right side of the of the visitors stands.  Assume they had Williams spelled out.  Good Ephs fan support...little concern about their judgement....what was the temperature at game time?
Impressed with the offensive line play...seems that QB for Tufts had time to throw and runners holes to run thru.  Are the Williams backs that fast to catch the runners?  Expect the WES cardinals to soften the EPHS for Amherst.
Need to focus on the Jumbos...they arrive for a game on Pratt field on Family Weekend.  Expect Coach Mills to get his team ready..not to over look Tufts.
Watched the Middlebury and Williams game on Willynet..real name.  Both teams put in two QBs.  Does Tufts have a backup QB of note?...used in prior games.  I know, should do my homework...lazy.
Thanks for the link all and the comments....focused me on this week's game.

While it is clear the admissions standards vary within the league, so too do the ongoing academic standards and codes of conduct required to keep kids eligible - The folks from Hartford certainly understand this as one only needs to investigate players who leave for a year and then are able to come back be eligible and play - SEC worthy scandal? Probably not - but the NESCAC should have higher standards -

Amher63--your take on the starting Amherst QB this week???

Are you sure they are leaving the school for a year? A more probable explanation for a kid not being on the roster for a season would be their GPA fell bellow a certain point and ruled them ineligible. After another year of school if they had raised that GPA back up to whatever the watermark was, they would again be eligible the next year. Happens all the time at the nonNESCAC's, can't imagine it would be too much different.

Know of at least 2 cases  where players have been dismissed for academic dishonesty and legal issues and are back playing - Not right - Unless you are the QB for Florida State -

There is an awful lot of animosity directed at Trinity on this site. Rumors and innuendo are not NESCAC standards either.

You need to know a lot about the specific situation in order to judge.

Amherst has been just as successful in football in recent years but I do not see references to goings on in central MA. If a student breaks a schools code of conduct or rules and is punished with a semester or year out of school, hasn't he been punished?

I really wish this site addressed football more and stopped comparing Trinity College to Florida State. Frankly, those posts should be removed. It bothers me that others don't find this line disturbing.

Based on Lippe's play (very good) over the last 1.5 games and the fact that Berlutti is hurt and Foy is still only a frosh, I will bet any amount of $$$ that Lippe is the man this Saturday. And he is deserving to be the man.

Thanks, NEASCACman--that was my take as well but was not aware of any injuries to others considered.

Go Continentals!

Think how great it would be if Hamilton won this week!

Gridiron...agree with your assessment and Nesacman's point.  Was thinking about other factors also.
Max Lippe is an athletic player...he and his favorite WR in the WES game Gene Garay  we're both  on the MBB team their FY.(Max's older sister was a member of WES' s WBB).  Even though he was injured with a knee problem at the start of the season, he has shown his running ability in both his starts to date....willing to run inside or outside to keep drives going.  Last season, Amherst soundly beat Williams in Willytown...not a easy task...in part to his scrambling and moving the chains with his feet. It has been his arm that has limited him in the past.  Berluti has the stronger arm for the verical long ball threat.  WR Ragone was the option passer on the long ball throw that was picked off in the Game in Middletown.
I have been thinking about TOs and how they impact games and change game plans, etc.  Last year in the WES win on Pratt field, WES won the TO battle. Believe Lippe threw two picks.  This year with essentially the same WES team, QB Lippe made better decisions on a grass field with WR Ragone missing.  This season, the other QBs against "weaker" teams made two many TOs, imo.
It should be noted that the fine QB Warren threw his first pick of the season in the game.  Last season in the lost to Trinity in Hartford, QB Warren also had his first pick of the season.
Last factor that may reveal how I think....Lippe is a Senior.  Next week is Family Day.  Normally the players have a senior day...with their families also being honored on the last home game.  This year the last home game is Homecoming.  I do not remember Senior Day being held during Homecoming.
Therefore, Lippe would start on Senior Day.  I also believe that if Amherst gets a big lead and control the game by halftime against Tufts, another QB will enter the game.  Berluti and Foy both need experience  and all teams needs backup QBs.  Check the MIddlebury vs Williams game video when both teams rotated QBs several times.

Banfan...back again to hopefully dispell any thought of no support.  When I see attacks on Amherst and/or me on these boards, I just ignore them.  Saw the cited post and noticed the "newbie" handle  and therefore lack of creds and decided not to waste my time.

amh63,thanks. It just happens too often. That is, instead of talking about football, posters go off in nasty directions. Trin and Hartford have taken it on the chin. After a while, I just had to stand up.

Amher63--heard that although Foy is only a frosh, he's a 20 year old, so perhaps there's more maturity/experience in his background than would appear.  Thought it was interesting to note.
