Middlebury has a D1 transfer!?....been out of touch or did I just miss a post here.
PolarCat may claim his post here as a spiritual thing....he did make a football topic on another board. :). Will take up the topic of post season play......AND....a nine game football schedule when September rolls around...when news of new CAC presidents start appearing....hopefully!

Since the NESCAC FB board is my spiritual home, I wanted to make my 200th post here, for sentimental reasons.

There is no meaningful content, but that was also true of my first 199 posts.

My apologies to anyone who got excited seeing there was a new post on this board.

Carry on.

Well, since we're posting without anything to say I'll take this opportunity to comment solely to show off my fancy new GIF signature. It only seems appropriate that it follows a post from our good friend amh63. Cheers and go Trin!

The fact it just plays over, and over, and over, and over is the pure definition of "salt in the wounds."

Let the GIF Wars begin!

Things that make you say "WTF?":

Trinity's graduation is this weekend.  Trinity Women's Lacrosse is hosting the NCAA D3 Regional WLAX Sweet Sixteen and Elite 8.  On Saturday, Trinity plays Pomona-Pitzer, and Bowdoin plays TCNJ.  The two winners face off on Sunday.

With parents, grandparents, friends and THREE visiting college teams, their buses, their supporters (maybe not many from Pomona, but tons from TCNJ and Bowdoin), and their tailgates, parking within the gated confines of FB Coop is going to be next-to-impossible.

And against that backdrop, Trinity Football schedules a Skills Clinic on Saturday for grades 9-12.  With walk-on registration permitted, so they will have no clear idea of the number of attendees in advance.

The dates for graduation and the NCAA Tournament were known well in advance, and Trinity has been ranked #1 in the country almost all season, so the football coaches could clearly have anticipated a conflict when they scheduled the clinic back in March.  What in the world were they thinking????

Pep has been there himself. And, since there's really no one around on the E8 boards and nothing really to say, Pep just wants to wish his Saxon softballers (38-4) the best of luck in their Super Regional trip to Tiffin, OH Friday and Saturday to face the Student Princes of Heidelberg University. On Saxon Warriors!

Pep would add that he's wondered whether Heidelberg calls their women's teams the "Student Princesses" and is hoping they are hospitable, whatever they call themselves. Pep may only be dreaming but it sure would be nice to see the Saxons advance to the Softball World Series in Salem, VA. Pep would love to make the trip....not likely Pep will be there for a football championship game anytime soon.

On Saxon Warriors! And let's go, Continentals!!

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

This seems like a pretty strong overreaction to a non-issue. Commencement isn't until Sunday. Even if families came into town the night before they would park at their hotels, not on campus. I can't imagine there will be that many more fans for the DIII women's lacrosse semifinals than there are for a typical fall weekend where football, men's & women's soccer all play home games.

My best guess is that the skills clinic draws around 50 players max, which isn't enough to cause a parking shortage. It starts at noon and will be done by the time the second women's lax game starts at 2:30pm.

Plus, the majority of students have already left campus so there should be plenty of parking on Saturday.

Finally, why should the Trin football coaching staff be concerned with the tailgating preferences of visiting women's lacrosse team's fans? I would imagine they schedule the clinic based on the best dates for their coaching staff and hosting the event when there's so much activity on campus is likely a selling point to potential recruits. There will be a great buzz in Hartford this weekend... and plenty of parking.  ;)

I sincerely hope you're correct.  But while the actual graduation isn't until Sunday, there are PLENTY of activities on Saturday, starting with an 11:30 Chapel Singers Concert, and proceeding non-stop through the Reception for the Class of 2015 and Their Families, which ends at 6:30 PM.  As a parent, I know that if I'd shelled out $250,000 for my kid's Trinity degree, I'd be there on campus, drinking in every minute of it.

Given Trinity's emphasis on recruiting, I find it hard to believe that a Skills Clinic for grades 9-12 only draws 50 kids (12 per grade), but maybe I'm mistaken.  And I'd think that many of the recruits the coaches want are also playing HS / Prep School lacrosse, and would be otherwise engaged this coming weekend.

Despite your assurances, I continue to find the timing curious.

Couple comments of little football value really!
First....Trinity8-0...what year was your little video..2002?..What is a GIF?
AU Pep...nice to hear from you.....how's the rebuid of the Saxon's football program going?  Seems your former coach is adjusting ok at Hamilton.
PolarCat is worried that his tailgate that includes a festival of food and music will just have too much leftovers...me thinks.
Surprised that Trinity has such an early commencement date.

PolarCat

Only someone who has never seen us Polar Bears chow down would worry about leftovers.   ;D

Amh63, the GIF is from the 2003 Trinity-Amherst game, a 20-14 Bantam victory. Here's all the info you could ever want regarding the "Graphics Interchange Format" or GIF: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIF

My guess is that the vast majority of attendees for the skills camp are those who will be seniors, along with some juniors. I could be way off, but based on some of the previous photos posted to the Trinity Football facebook page I don't think they get a massive turnout. This may be by design so that they can focus on those they've actually invited. Best of luck to the Polar Bears women's lax squad (on Saturday anyways) and I hope you don't have any parking issues. It's a pretty safe bet that the Chapel Singers Concert won't be a sell-out.

In something that's actually NESCAC football related; did anyone else know that LaDarius Drew was coming back to play another year at Wesleyan? It looks like he's graduating this year but he must be enrolling as a grad student because he's been named a captain (along with DB, Jon Spivey and OL, Blake Cunningham) for the 2015 season.

Geez, Can't the rest of the conference get a break?!

Trinity8-0 .....thanks for the info....can not keep up with all the new abbreviations brought on by the new social media.....do not text!  Did want to state 2003...but posted 2002 and being lazy, left it.  Expected it was the first of Trinity's three years of undefeated seasons during your playing days.  You do know how to rub it in since the  win was by a touchdown.  Trinity does come to Pratt Field this coming season...maybe I can get a piX/video clip of a win. :)
Do support polbear73's  post....though the LGs will have to pull off a win anyway...it will be The Homecoming game.

And you too Pat? ;D   Can a guy get some slack here?  About right as the social media/internet/AOL all expand to the general public around mid 1990's...so they say.
