Application deadline is 4/9 - which I believe means no decision will be made before 4/10 at the earliest. By 4/10 the baseball and lax schedules are more than 60% complete excluding any playoff competition.

If Williams is planning on promoting from within (like they did with Whalen), then the coaching decision will likely not be announced until after the spring season is over.  If Barrale and McCormack are both shooting for the job, then it would be very difficult for them to coach to their best of their ability for the Eph baseball and lax teams while preparing and interviewing for the football position.

With the success Maker has had in just two years with the hoops team, I wouldn't be shocked to see Williams go outside the Williams community to hire.

Maker was a finalist for the job when Paulsen was hired.  HS knew him well given that he was a long-time assistant at Dartmouth.

HS has done a superb job over the years hiring head coaches.  Whether it's an internal hire or someone from outside the program, he will identify the right candidate.

Excellent point Frank...still not ideal for either coach.  Agreed that Sheehy has made some great decisions, but there have not been too many new hires at Williams recently.

Heard Trinity hired a new D line coach. Anyone know what happened to the current coach?

It is now 4/10, and the application deadline for the Williams HFC position has expired - and no public announcement yet.

Former standout player and D-line coach Mike Blair finished his masters degree and is getting out of the coaching game. The Bants also lost former standout wide reciever and RB's coach Joe Clark who is now coaching at Norwich University.

I've also heard that Jeff McDonald who left Wesleyan to help run the Trinity defense has now decided to go back to Wesleyan. I would imagine that'll add even more spice to a Trin-Wes rivalry that could be very competitive in the next few years.

Trinity hired Dan Blume, a graduate of Mount Union College, as its new defensive line coach.  Blume spent the past two seasons as a defensive assistant at Villanova. Prior to arriving at Villanova, Blume was an assistant at his alma mater, where he was the defensive tackles and assistant linebackers coach for the 2006 National Championship team.  In 2007, Blume took over duties as a linebackers coach at Mount Union, producing two all-league players. During his playing career, Blume was a linebacker for a Mount Union program that won the Div. III NCAA National Championship in 2002 and 2005 and was the national runner-up in 2003.

Trinity also added Geoffrey Rhatican and Kurtis von Bargen, both of whom were assistants at the Coast Guard Academy last fall, as graduate assistant coaches. Rhatican, who coached the wide receivers for the last two seasons at Coast Guard, graduated from Brown where he was a wide receiver for the Bears. Von Bargen, who was the outside linebackers coach at Coast Guard in 2009 served as a defensive back for East Carolina.

Very quiet on the Williams coaching front ... no rumors, candidates, front-runners, etc.???

Rick Vaughn

Any thoughts if that means big splash? Or in house hire?

mullethead

I guess McDonald was lured back to Wes by Whalen. Wonder if that means Trinity still has a coaching need or if those last two hires fill out the coaching staff

Any news on the Williams situation? Cannot be critical of Wes and their timing in waiting for Whelan as they seem to be getting their staff on board with the addition of Seidlecki as well.

Speedy is correct, according to these articles:

Sounds like a great hire!!!  The Ephs will certainly be pumped up for next season, with a new coach, following two absolutely heart-breaking losses to Amherst and Trinity last year (the third straight such loss vs. Trinity) and with a homecoming payback game vs. Coach Whalen and Wesleyan :)
