While I'm at it, I might as well throw out a nescac recruit for next year.  Tape of Middlebury QB recruit Eric Bertino.  (You have to listen to coach Pappas first)

Looks decent, except it appears that he's wearing cinder blocks for cleats.

iamhuge, you are misquoting me.  Yes, NESCAC players have received D-1 offers, of course.  I would seriously, seriously doubt that any NESCAC player has ever received a football scholarship offer from Alabama, however.  Feel free to correct me, anyone, but I feel confident about this one.  NESCAC hoops is at a higher level than NESCAC football, relative to D-1, and you never see NESCAC hoops player who receive serious recruiting interest above, at the very best, a mid-major level, and it is rare (not unheard of, but very rare) for ANY NESCAC players, in football or basketball, to receive D-1 full rides, but turn them down, even from lower-tier D-1 schools.  In retrospect, of course, some would have deserved them ... but I don't think even the best players in NESCAC would have a prayer of seeing PT at Alabama, other then once-in-a-generation guys like Ethan Brooks who are overlooked due to a late growth spurt or something like that.

In all events, folks got pretty annoyed with you on the Alabama boards, even blocking one of your threads as far as I can see, so I am not alone.  This is a place for a discussion of NESCAC football.  There are plenty of other places to discuss NFL players, high school players, pee wee football players, ultimate frisbee players, or Stratego players, I'm quite sure.  If you are going to post a video of a player, I suggest it be someone with some sort of current or potential link to NESCAC, absent something truly unusual.  Since you apparently have a son at a NESCAC school now, I'm sure you will have plenty to talk about on-point, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Jumbos, or anything else NESCAC related, here.

I wanna see some Stratego highlights.  That game is dope.

LD you seem like the type of guy to put two bombs in one of those front spots in the middle.  Although I have to admit, I would hide my general there every once in a while.

You mean Roxbury Latin?  The ISL has some great teams and some duds.  Lawrence Academy had 3 d1 kids last year and BB&N usually has one or 2 and another 4 or 5 going Ivy league.

I am familiar with the D1 stars playing in the ISL...but why would a kid want to rob himself of a competitive and rewarding high school football career to play against some spindly legged poindexters?

JU, you have anyone playing in the Agganis game tomorrow?

He got to play an extra year (played his junior at the public, transfered to BB&N and repeated his junior year so he had two years).  And he actually transfered from Roxbury Latin to Needham and then to BB&N.  BB&N is one of the best private schools in the country (as is Roxbury Latin), sop I assume he and his family liked the private school experience after all.

I would have sent all 3 of my boys to RL if we still lived in Boston.   The academic caliber of some of these ISL schools is unsurpassed.  If that's what a family is looking for, then it's certainly the way to go – and athletics can be a great complement to the experience.

However what gives me pause are the folks who have a D1 talented athlete and intentionally send him to a league where the athletic competition is very weak.   It seems counter intuitive.  All these kids growing up are put in higher and higher level youth travel or AAU leagues for more competition and then you take it all away by putting them against the lowest level competition that there is when they get to high school.

This is flat out retarded.  Education should come first and foremost, unless your kid is a moron and can't read and is nothing more than your future meal ticket.  If you can afford to send your kids to the best educational schools to give them a better shot of being successful in life vs. being able to maybe get 4 years of better college football and maybe an education and very slim shot of being a professional athlete, then there isn't a choice.

If someone is a 'great' athlete, they will find a way no matter where they play, especially in a prestigious league like that.

Mr. Huge,

I understand what you are trying to get at, but I think you are underestimating the athletics/football programs of the ISL.  The top 5 ISL teams would be in the top 10 MIAA teams (mass public and catholic schools).  Since Pappas and the LA coach came to BB&N and Lawrence Academy, the football talent of the league started to go way up in the upper eschelon of the league.    In fact, there have been many concerns around the league that football is getting too big.

So in the end, ISL football is way ahead of where it was before 2000.

Utes..I am not debating that.  But there are 16 teams in the league and I am sure a lot of the highlight films come from games against the bottom 5 teams.  Why doesn't BB&N play Don Bosco from NJ if they are that good?   I am sure college coaches would love to see those films.
