Tufts--Beginning to think you need a new name such as "Wesleyan" :) :)  All good stuff!

Amh63--thoughtful and logical perspective.  I too think that if any of the administrations might be receptive, it would be Wesleyan's.

NESCAC1--unfortunately I tend to agree with the likelihood not being high, but still don't agree with the reasoning of the administrations--every other NCAA football team in the nation (D3 too) play a MINIMUM of nine games--not looking for playoffs, just a ninth conference game.  I also think your 2013 predictions are much closer to what will happen.

Was trying to subtly bait Frank a bit but to no avail :).  I guess I have to poke the bear directly...there was another pretty obvious trend in the W/L data over the past 20 plus years if you consider Williams :)

I know , its just good to see some hype and excitement to get over the stodginess.......and would be cool to see some new teams on top....how does Tufts not recruit better is ridiculous with their 6000 enrollment and location and yet have certified midgets on the roster....it is great news seeing that info of that Chance Brady and word of good skill players coming in... Tufts needs some hype , their home games are lame and on paper should be the best.

tufts....with a lower case "t".....why do I think you are not what your label indicate.  Like Gridiron SUGGEST, you seem to know/ speculate a lot about the Cardinals.  Your last remark wrt a game in Fenway is a whopper  and I am not talking about burgers.  Granted, Williams  and Amherst have hosted games that have attendances cited greater than 13 thousands officially, there is nothing to gain to have a game in Boston which require a major ground remake.  Both schools will have new football turf fields, stands and lights by '14....each funded by generous donors.  Usually the tickets are free and the yearly matchup is televised and seen around the world, literally.  There is no financial benefits for such a game that I can see.
If this is a porker game...posting on this board, with the present top teams supporters playing close to their chest, your posts seems to me to be "zingers" to change the play and rhythm / pace.  What is your interest/relationship with the Jumbos?...parent, student, alumni, etc....even a frustrated Camel that has no team? :D

Tufts,

Urban/surburban football programs don't get crowds just because there is a lot of people around.  Just ask Northeastern and Boston University how their programs did.

fulbakdad

And when both closed their football programs it created a vacuum in the Northeast recruiting.......

AlDavis

Your right Utah , great point.....never could understand the no love and support for BU and Northeastern football....and didn't BU have some real good teams right before they got rid of football..., and for Old Man Amherst , you don't need to throw your money around and your old man staunchyness..... I was told be a Williams coach in person last year , that a Williams- Amherst game was being looked at in the near future for Fenway , and most people , including recruits would think that is absolutely awesome  going in the line of hype and excitement.

Within the context of NESCAC, a football game between any two NESCAC schools at Fenway Park is a preposterous notion. Any NESCAC school which believes to the contrary ought to withdraw from NESCAC football and do something different with its football.

gridiron

Tufts--like the effort to mix it up with discussion of more than just two or four NESCAC teams.  There are 10 afterall.

AlDavis

Finding this Board to get NESCAC football info has been great , I can't find any place that has off season articles and all the school websites seem not to post anything since November.....it is a great testament to the history and relevance of the Amherst - Williams game that they would consider a stage for that game and that is the only NESCAC game that could possibly pull that off , there is no need to be all snobby and staunch ass against the possibility , that is why I personally think it is way cool that there is going to be a night game .....the student - athletes playing in the first ever NESCAC night game will be very excited  , its ok to spice life up a bit.

come on Frank....you know Williams is no better than 4 wins this year and you know it...so you will be sour and spatter out big - little words and phrases to impress and stay in control as the smartest guy in the room

I disagree. I think that Amherst-Williams at Fenway could draw a respectable crowd. That would be incredible, really.

I might get a good crowd (I'd say less than 5K), but wouldn't generate enough revenue to cover the costs of playing there.

Bottom line is that it will never happen, but it is nice to think about.

Harvard/Yale should try first, then Williams/Amherst might think about it.

Pat Coleman

If it draws less half of what they claim the game draws on campus, then it can't be that good a rivalry. :)

Outside of Williams/Amherst students and alums and close friends and family of those students and alums, almost no one is sufficiently interested to actually attend the game, and furthermore many of that group of attendees would be much disinclined to attend at a locale other than one or the other of the two campuses.
