Google NCAA FCS Rankings.

Frank:
http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcs
This page is on the NCAA site but it lists two polls: Coaches and The Sports Network. The NCAA does NO subjective national rankings in any sport.

As Sergeant Friday used to say, "Just the facts...just the facts".

Pat Coleman

Right. The fact is there's no NCAA voting national ranking in FCS or any level of any sport. The fact is the discussion is about Ivy teams being in the top half of FCS, not the Top 25.

Historically the discussions on these boards have been what the discussers choose to make them. At any rate why so testy? No one has come out in favor of Adolph Hitler - yet.

I guess sometimes I don't mind when you make the same point over and over but it would be nice if it were related to the conversation at hand and not something deliberately different (and, about the NCAA, wrong).

What point have I made recently? Much less one point over and over. In the subject discussion I have avoided drawing any conclusion and merely have stated facts which I thought some might find relevant. If one does not believe them to be relevant, then of course he is always free to ignore them.

Pat-
Frank U  the the king of the non sequitur - always has been -and he's the ultimate contrarian .... if someone says black Frank says White - loves to disrupt a conversation-- regulars on the board generally look the other way on this as Frank often makes good posts which reflect his experience as a Williams guy with much NESCAC experience.  'U" is a Williams grad though his loyalty to the Ephs fluctuates depending on how the Efhs are doing at a particular time.
At the end of the day Frank is a great contributor to the board and over the long term his posts are witty and entertaining.

I do read every board so I'm aware ... sometimes a conversation doesn't need to be disrupted, though.

Let us talk about football, not about the "authors" of these boards. Football can be interesting to a good many, the authors usually boring to almost all.

AlDavis

all righty then Frank....lets talk some football....Williams is going to be Straaaaate  Garbage this year  at 4 - 4 at best.....losing Coach McGinty will really hurt them too.

Just read feature sports article in the WSJ about saving college best rivalries.  With all the changes in conferences going on, future games such as Mich. vs. ND, Miami vs. Florida are going away.
Thought a good topic here while awaiting football rosters and games would be conference rivalries.
Most posters here are aware of the "Little Three" rivalry, the ones between the Maine schools, and the Trinity vs. Wesleyan game....all of which preceded the formation of the "CAC".  Before the conferance formation, there were rivalry  games between Middlebury vs. Norwich, I believe, and Amherst always played Springfield...and the CG Academy for awhile.  Going back, there were games between Amherst and Harvard in many sports, etc.
Since we are mired in an 8 game season,  I was wondering if posters had opinions of possible future rivalries developing.  The was one between Tufts and Amherst once.  Cannot figure out one for either Hamilton or Middlebury in the modern era.
Frank U's knowledge and even Lumbercat's maybe helpful here.
The annual game between Amherst and the Coast Guard Academy was nixed by the legendary Amherst Coach "DRAP".  Otto Graham was the coach at CGA at the time of the "breakup".  The two coaches had differences in how the game should be played is the story I remember.

I've come out in favor of Adolph Hitler just because I like to argue. I like to argue even against what i personally think just because I enjoy witnessing other peoples' thought processes. It's my true and honest opinion that most people operate on logical fallacies as a standard course of action. Usually appeals to emotion. Americans love to emote.

We should hang out some time, Frank. Ever come to Korea?

gridiron

Re potential for non-conference rivalries and ignoring the fact there is HUGE resistance to extend the season beyond eight games, some mythical possibilities follow:

Tufts vs MIT
Middlebury vs Norwich
Hamilton vs Union
Wesleyan vs Coast Guard
Trinity vs Springfield
Colby vs Maine Maritime
Bowdoin vs Hussen
Bates vs Plymouth State
Amherst vs ??
Williams vs ??

Rev: Korea? North or South? Doesn't the North have an incipient Little Hitler? Does he need a little attention and love? It is doubtful that the giving of such attention and love would be my cup of tea. Al: Your correspondent has already spoken on this board concerning Williams 2013 football prospects (as Casey Stengel used to say, "you can look it up") and is temporarily out of breath. Nonetheless during the season on Wednesdays you can catch up-to-date information from the HFC himself and others at the Williams Sideline Quarterback Club luncheons in Williamstown. This year the luncheons are taking place at 11:30 in the Log on Spring Street. All welcome for a small per luncheon payment or alternatively Club membership and dues without further payment.
