On the subject of Foote, any idea if he played football somewhere between Brown and Middlebury?  If not, he must have sat out a year as he graduated from HS in 09 and was on the Brown roster the fall of 09.  He was not on the Middlebury roster until 2011.

My bad...on the score on the Middlebury game in 2011 at Pratt Field.  Amherst won the game...48-28.  The stated score was the battle with Tufts in game 6 of the season...a real defensive game :).
M. Foote showed his talents as he had 400 net yards for the game...throwing 73 passes and connecting on 43!  He completed three more passes to Amherst players in the game.  ThE panthers had more offense than the LJs, more possession time, etc but Amherst won big.

Gridiron...cannot answer your question....but part of the answer if not all can be answered in a story on Foote on the Midd. Football website..dated 26 Sept.  Reference to a feature on him by a Vermont radio station.

Nescacman....as always an interesting entertaining post.  Again, another noticeable error.....the Panthers come to Pratt Field.  Even Panthernation pointed out that Amherst's defense is behind Amherst!  Oh well, it should be a good game...not the blow out of several seasons ago with a score of 70-49, Amherst.  Last season, Midd blew the game open in the 2nd quarter and played Amherst even the rest of the game...at home.  Does Foote travel well with fewer weapons and an less talented offensive line?  As you are wrong on the location,  so is your game outcome. :)
Anyone know why there are different start times in the conference games.  Midd has been getting most of the 1:30 starts.  Thought it was due to broadcast demands by NCN.
There must be a story behind the fact that Foote ended up at Middlebury when his parents and siblings are all Amherst people.
amh63: Thank you for pointing out my error and yes, the game is on the Lord Jeff's home turf. In my defense, I use the NESCAC website for some of my research and the NESCAC Football "Weekly Report #2" in error shows the game at Middlebury. I guess I now have to check the league site for errors!!! One additional point that I should have noted in my preview yesterday. As an indicator of how well Wesleyan's offensive line is playing, not only are the Cards leading the NESCAC in total offense by 15% over the next best team (Middlebury), they have allowed exactly ZERO sacks in the first two games. We realize that Wesleyan has not exactly been facing the New York Sack Exchange (NY Jets of the early 1980's) but it is still pretty impressive.

And I did have it right in the opening paragraph!  :)  My score prediction does not change, however. 24-14 Panthers.

I'm surprised to see that so many posters have Tufts as such a prohibitive favorite over Bowdoin. The Jumbos haven't scored more than two touchdowns in a single game since week 2 of LAST season. The Polar Bears are no powerhouse but they did open against two of, if not, the best teams in the NESCAC.

The game may be close but I think Bowdoin will pull out the win on the road.

I'm curious to see how Wes handles Colby. It will be a step up in competition from Tufts and Hamilton, but if the Cards truly believe they have to potential for an undefeated season they should be able to make quick work of the Mules.

Bates has traditionally been a letdown game for the Ephs following an often emotional tilt with Trinity. This has allowed previous mediocre Bobcat teams to pull some stunning upsets. This year, a Bates win would be far less surprising as they may be the superior team. I'm with Nescacman, and really want to pick Bates... so I will. Frank, when is the last team Williams was 0-3??

In the NESCAC game of the week I'm going to pick Amherst in a mild upset over Midd. I really have no basis for this pick other than a hunch and wanting to be contrarian to the Wesleyan posters.  ;)

My only hope in the Trin-Hamilton game is that the Bantams emerge healthy. There's a horrific history of injuries to Trinity players in this game.

Trinity 8-0...thanks for your support.  You too think that Amherst is traveling?  Went to the conference site and I'm reading that Amherst is the host. :)

Interesting story about another school in the WSJ today that has purple and white colors.  Northwestern, the only private college in the "Big Ten", much like Vanderbilt  in the SEC,is featured.  Seems the normal football doormat in the conference, is having a promising football season this year. In the past, the academic  powerhouse school considered joining the Ivy League as it's sports program suffered.  I mentioned it here, in an ironic /twisted way. The President of Northwestern left Williams in part to upgrade Northwestern's athletics...as he did during his long tenure in Willie town.

amh63: See "Weekly Release #2" on the NESCAC site...still says Middleburys hosting.

Having been around the Tufts team a lot over the past few seasons, I think it's fair to say they are in a better place now than they have been in three-plus years. They will be the better team on the field tomorrow against Bowdoin.

The only question is, can they figure out HOW to win? If they take an early lead, how will the players respond? Most of the guys on the field don't know what it feels like, and 52 of the 76 are freshmen and sophomores.

Still, I think if the Jumbos keep their cool and play half as well as they did in Lewiston, they will finally get one tomorrow.

amh63

NESCACnewsman.....not questioning your post.  I went to another location on the site to check.....to lazy to go back to to release #2.  Went to live games area and pulled down the info.  Just like your post, there are conflicting info on the same site :)

yes there is a story behind why Foote went to Middlebury and I am sure you know....Foote's father Mr. Foote is a well known legend from down the street and you know that....and Mr. Foote actually hates Amherst now with a hating passion......Make sure you root in this win to hang an L on Middlebury and be very afraid when Wesleyan rolls into town in 2 weeks , I will come over to the sunny side and give you a manly handshake but no kiss on the lips like you do with Frank.
..

Hey Amherst63.....you pondered a theory story the other day and I answered it pretty robustly.....whats the word....please root in that game tomorrow and see you in 2 weeks with my entourage , we will come over to the sunny side and take a piss.

Mac spent time before he came to Middlebury living in Spain, which is why he will graduate in '14, despite starting at brown in '09.

The last time Williams was 0-3 was 1987, Dick Farley's first year as HFC when it started 0-4 but finished 4-4.
