Lumbercat--agreed, the rivalries between all three Maine schools are genuine and fierce, and tend to bring out the best during their contests.

Hoping for great weather across the league for the upcoming season finales.  Lots at stake for all--

*Middlebury chance to stay alive for piece of league title (admittedly with big assist to the 8 game schedule)

If Middlebury wins a share of the league title, they will have done so compiling the same record while playing the same schedule as Wesleyan. In that case, perhaps it'd be the Cardinals who should be grateful for the abbreviated slate.

Your statement is a very fair point and 100% accurate.  Point well taken.  Just that the "eye test" suggests (to me at least) that the schedule worked in Middlebury's favor this time around.

Not to suggest anything should be taken away from the Panthers' success.  You can only play who's on the schedule.  But the NESCAC needs that nine game schedule once and for all!!

Quite day in a week leading up to the final games of an eventful season to date.  Important rivalry games await on Saturday.  Some minor comments/questions generated by the posts to date.
"Pich...just a Mom". ... WoW!  Insightful and passionate post.  A little harsh, IMO  :). Still it is good to get a mom's view on this board.
Nice to see that commercial TV has picked up the games in Middletown and Hartford.  Shows the growing interest of fans for good D3 football rivalries.  Noticed that the Wesleyan night game and Homecoming game had crowds of 5000-6000 plus!  Will the battle for bragging rights in Ct also get a record crowd?  If so, maybe commercial TV will broadcast the game annually.
Speaking of rivalries..a topic of personal interest and touched upon on this board before.  Lumbercat and Gridiron used words of  "hate", wrt to Bowdoin vs Bates, and "archrival", wrt to Colby's last game.
My curiosity and ignorance of the CBB title importance among the Maine schools has me asking for more info and why...historic?

...ok I'm back home and way behind schedule so I am not going to cut the grass as stated earlier , so what that I have the worst looking lawn at this present moment in the Hood I live in , phuckem just like that new song that plays on the radio every 5 minutes... "We Don't Care We're Driving Cadillacs In Our Dreams".....I am going to be jumping all over the place here on this post so concentrate and stay with me......4MoreBeers I will make your winning deposit shortly as I was over the hurting of the Red Sox but as stated earlier was hurting from drinking heavily with the Whalen Mafia........I do want to give a shout out to Colby Football as if they just pound the pavement a little harder this offseason they might be right near the very Top next year and hope exCoach Mastieri is enjoying Colby success as we really liked him when we met him 2 years ago on our recruiting trip.....Coopster 8.0 I will be front and center with you at 10:00 AM sharp , I come in peace and look forward to meeting you and will leave my weapons in my rental car as I know I will be safe within the Walls of The Walled of Ghetto Slum....I will DEFINITELY NOT be coming with Strippers from the Foxy Lady in Providence as earlier posted I believe in September as I will be with my wife who does understand my HYPE for over 20 years........now I interrupt this post to sing a Sinead O'Connor Song to Stanky Franky and Amhurt63 and in my beautiful voice and here it goes.................................................... "everyone can see what's going on
they laugh 'cos they know they're untouchable
not because what I said was wrong
whatever it may bring
I will have my own policies
I will sleep with a clear conscience
I will sleep in peace
maybe it sounds mean
but I really don't think so
you asked for the truth and I told you
through they're own words
they will be exposed
they've got a severe case of the Emperor's New Clothes."

.......now back to the post and want to tell Stanky Franky that I am a man of integrity because after the game I could have went to Williams #7 and if I just had 5 minutes with him explaining whats up I am confident I could get him to transfer to Wesleyan next week......and we just talking football here people , but yes I could , but I didn't and wouldn't.......now unless one of my old Nuclear Warheads that I use to cuddle with next to my rack in the torpedo room goes awry from the past to this here future now , its over , my son promised me the 2nd Ring and that's not counting any future Rings from Wesleyan Baseball , so the only way this can be stopped is if the Whalen Mafia gets locked up as I don't see that happening , not with the Big Time Lawyer they have in their group Mr. BIG ANT-ANT or you can go back in time like in that EPIC Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt movie "Twelve Monkeys" and prevent what has recently happened which will be very hard as Bruce Willis went thru hell in that movie.....Its Over NESCAC people unless your crews pound the pavement as hard and as with much passion as Wesleyan.......Listen to me Blue Chipper Football Player Student Athlete Parents as I speak Al Davis to you , have your sons do Early Decision very Early if you want Bling which is a Ring.....only Blue- Chippers Need Apply.....now we just talking football here people and I don't represent Wesleyan , I just root it in hard.....and Stanky Franky you are asleep at the wheel as you underestimated the HYPE.....the HYPE is real and Blue Chipper Student Athlete Football Players and Parents Love IT.

Al: This week I'm backing Wesleyan for non-financial reasons certainly unbeknownst to, and most probably unimagined by, you. Nonetheless preliminary feelers sense that the Smart Money will be leaning toward Trinity.

nescac1

Al, by all means, feel free to try to convince "number seven" to transfer to Wesleyan.  Maybe you believe that every kid is a frontrunner eager to ditch the school with the most storied football tradition in the NESCAC after one bad year and after a loss by just a few points on the road to Wesleyan (and a school, by the way, that will be opening next year the best football facility in the entire conference after suffering through a stretch of truly sub-par facilities, which should have an impact on recruiting), but I'm guessing you'd be surprised at the loyalty and love most kids have for Williams.  In all events, "number seven" will also be playing basketball from what I understand, and I doubt he'd be eager to go from one of the best programs nationally in hoops to a NESCAC bottom-feeder.  Not to mention, you'd have to convince him (or anyone else) to depart the best liberal arts college in the country.  So don't do us any favors, and good luck in trying recruit any Williams kids you want to head Wesleyan's way.

Your team is the top dog in NESCAC this year (well, in one sport, anyway).  Certainly enjoy it.  Wesleyan earned it, and deserves the accolades it will receive.  You may find it hard to believe right now, but it's not always going to be that way.  You may discover that it's a lot easier being the hunter than the hunted, which Williams (along with Trinity) has consistently been over the past three decades ...

Hey NESCAC7thplace if you reading comprehended my post correctly ....I said I didn't and wouldn't.....and in many of my posts I always say >>>>and we just talking football here people...... so don't go off on some tangent on me that ain't there.....I have posted many times months ago no question your great history is unmatched but I just got here and have no control of the past history and I have no control of this present history and no one respects history more than me but have stated your history is yours to have and relish..... but today , tomorrow and the near future as I see it ain't yours to have and "Tooo Bad About Ya".....and we just talking football here people.....and if there are a 100 sports and you win 99 out of the 100 , I personally don't give a phuck.....I will take the One Football win ever day all day until the end of time...I have never downgraded any of these great schools and no doubt about it Thy Williams is #1 and would never speak for anyone in a third party manner but was alluding to the fact the I speak many languages and one of them is Blue- Chipper Language as after every game the first person I go see is LaDarius Drew and we speak Blue - Chipper to each other and that's a fact as I met his parents this past week for the first time and within 10 seconds we where all speaking Blue-Chipper to each other....so easy there NESCAC7thplace , easy as you go as you don't want me speaking Indian to you or singing Sinead O'Connor songs to you like I do to Stanky Franky and Amhurt63.

nescac1

This is what you said: "after the game I could have went to Williams #7 and if I just had 5 minutes with him explaining whats up I am confident I could get him to transfer to Wesleyan next week."

I responed in kind, saying that your confidence that you COULD (regardless of whether you would) is egregiously misplaced.  So chill out, dude.

I certainly don't want to do anything to inspire you to sing me Sinead O'Connor songs, so in all events, I will stand down.

...ok NESCAC1....we cool , for all the hype I post I am sure some of it can be mis-read or mis-construed......but in all fairness you are now my Inherited Enemy and it's not personal , just business ....and my only business is rooting it in under the circumstances that this year deserved as 40 some odd years is off the charts and don't think I did not razz some of these prominent Wesleyan Alumni this past weekend on what the hell they have been doing these past 40 some odd years....so trust me NESCAC1 bro  I keep it real....and we just talking football here people.

CPTV, which broadcast the Williams-Wes game this past weekend, will also broadcast the Wes-Trinity game. Not sure if there will be a live stream on the internet as well--Wesleyan was supposed to simulcast the CPTV feed on Saturday but encountered technical difficulties, hence the rudimentary webcast that was clearly thrown together on exceptionally short notice. I don't believe there is a live stream available through the CPTV website.

Hoping for great weather across the league for the upcoming season finales.  Lots at stake for all--

*Trinity 50 game home streak
*Wesleyan league championship on top of Little Three
*Tufts streak
*Hamilton chance to get in the W column
*Williams chance to salvage something from season by being "King of the purples"
*Bates chance to not have losing record
*Colby chance for 5 and 3 and outright CBB championship
*Bowdoin opportunity to salvage something by beating archrival
*Middlebury chance to stay alive for piece of league title (admittedly with big assist to the 8 game schedule)
*Amherst chance to stay alive for piece of league title and beat nemesis
*Final game for seniors everywhere

Spot on Gridiron.  There's a lot to be proud of for each and every one of these seniors who have combined rigorous academics at these great institutions with the honor of wearing their school colors on the field.  Special note to all of the kids who faced adversity and still persevered.  It's a lot more fun to be on a winning team or to play injury free, but to those who did not have that fortune and are still able to come out on senior day I think deserves special commendation.

True dat.

Hats off to the kid that lost his season to an ACL injury two minutes into the first game after 9 months of hard work in the off-season yet still is there very practice and game helping his teammates in any way he can.

Hats off to the kid that worked his tail off to get ready for the game knowing his team probably wouldn't win and at the same time worked his tail off to get an "A" on that crucial test in his major.

Hats off to the kid that spends as much time working out and practicing as the starters, some for four years, but never sees the field.

Iamhuge is right. It's easy when you are winning and succeeding.  Success in life is what you do when things don't go so well.
