The Trin-Wes scrimmage is Saturday at 1:00pm on the Wesleyan turf practice field. I'm going to TRY and take in a little bit before heading back down to New London for the 2:30pm kickoff for the Secretaries Cup between Coast Guard Academy and Merchant Marine Academy.

As I recall, Trinity has traditionally held out their starters in this contest and while Wesleyan seemed to treat it like the Super Bowl. I'm curious if either will change their strategy considering the Cardinals new role as "the hunted".

Quicksilver...Thanks...I hear you wrt to student announcers, etc. Amherst has a year to evaluate and decide.
Trinity 8-0....based on the last game of last season, it will indeed be interesting to see if the Cardinal Staff takes a different approach.  The argument for these scrimmages varies, I believe,  from evaluating new personal under game conditions to providing players something to hit other than team mates and dummies :).

Re Bates/Colby scrimmage 5:30 Friday.  Just confirmed Colby starters will play first quarter only with the exception of situational practice later.

Not exactly relevant to NESCAC football, but Boise State practiced in The Coop today in advance of their game against UConn tomorrow. I wonder how the 13 year old surface compared to their blue turf.

Trinity8-0......maybe the Coop turf has faded to a shade of blue :).   Hope the Bantams get some compensation!.....towards a new cover.

Bates - Colby scrimmage ended in a scoreless tie.   ::)

Thanks for the report Polar Cat- who was the starting QB for the Mules?
Love to hear any other observations from the scrimmage.

FourMoreYears

Looking for some action as the NESCAC season is a mere week away.
Where is Al and the lines?   ;)

NothingButNESCAC

Gabe Harrington started for colby and definitely appears to be the starter heading into week 1.
Meanwhile Cannone is the starter for Bates as well.

Looks like Trin will be sticking with the same strategy. I'm hearing that as many as 30 Bants aren't dressing today for the Wes scrimmage. When can we please eliminate this charade and just add a 9th game?

All other fall NESCAC sports seasons have already started as well as the rest of the football playing world.

Reading the excellent Wesleyan preview on Nothing But Nescac, that may be the most experienced team I've ever seen in NESCAC.  Almost every starter and several key back-ups are seniors.  Those that are not have been starters in the past.  Several fifth-years seniors as well.  And loads of 3-4 year starters including the QB, TB, and top two receivers, and a DB who could make his fourth straight first-team all-NESCAC squad (would that be unprecedented?  I would think so ...).  If ever there is a year for Wesleyan to go 8-0, this is that year.  Next year will be the real test of whether Whalen has built the next NESCAC powerhouse for the long run, because the losses to graduation are going to be immense.

Very curious to hear the word on the Williams-Amherst scrimmage today, especially how the QB position is shaping up at each school.  Amherst seems to be loaded with options, whereas at Williams, fingers are crossed that Lommen is the real deal and ready to seize the starting job.  Would be nice to hear about what sort of strides the Williams o-line has made in the offseason, improvement from that unit, other than QB, is the biggest variable (besides keeping Howe and Scyocurka healthy) for how this coming season will turn out for the Ephs.

Anyone know what day the 75 man rosters need to be submitted by?  I seem to recall Monday before the first game.

Anyone catch any of the Williams-Amherst scrimmage??
