Public Service Announcement for any going to Trinity Saturday for the Tufts game.  NESCAC has re-Tweeted an announcement from Trinity, mentioning that many streets will be closed on Saturday for the Hartford Marathon.  It would stink to be late for the tailgate, and maybe even worse to be lost and detoured through the surrounding neighborhood.

Full announcement is here: http://www.trincoll.edu/Admissions/campusvisit/Documents/HartfordMarathonDirections%202014.pdf

If you do get detoured in the streets around Trinity, we strongly suggest locking your car doors and windows and not stopping if you happen to get rear ended. Failure to follow these suggestions could lead to a carjacking or worse, death.  ;)

Approaching MIDSEASON in a 8 game conference.....and many posters including me are a bit of topic. Hoping more football projections arrive shortly...even previews.  Until then, some responses and comments on posts
Lumbercat.....you may be correct wrt to the NESN point/jab...now that The Game is at 4 PM  Wrong about the Purple crowd attendance.  We have nothing better to do that weekend.  If you are available, you have my personal invite to join.  Will even wager a bet that the attendance will exceed that of the your Game of the Decade. :)
PolarCat...CIA???...me.  However you are linking in the right spot.  There have been three alums , I believe, that have held the Directorship of that esteem agency.
Madz....like your wit....though Al Davis would be the last person to enforce based on his posts.
Now a possible topic up for comments...The Game of the Week.
It maybe the Amherst vs Colby game in the art loving town of Amherst.  All of Colby's fall teams are arriving, it appears, to study art and beat on the poor Amherst teams.  Why?  Colby to me is a unknown quality with something to prove. Though I trust Amherst coaches to take one game at a time..there is a concern here that players maybe looking ahead to a brutal 2nd half of the season.  Suggesting the game in Amherst is also due to the fact that I am ignorant of the other games.

amh63...appreciate your lobbying efforts on behalf of Amherst/Colby to be Week #4 GOTW. We will take that effort into consideration when we do our weekly preview and rankings this evening.

amh63

Amherst's preview of the Colby game is up on the website.  Saw Williams' preview.  noticed the 2pm start time.  Detail schedule of festivities given.  Note the "community tailgate picnic".  Want to gather everyone in a controllable area is how I read it. :). Just kidding around here.

gridiron

Amh63-thanks for the heads up on the Amherst/Colby preview.  Under projected starters for Colby, none are on the Colby roster...is it a suggestion that the Mules would be better off with different players???? :)

amh63

Gridiron...don't know what to say about the mess up wrt to Colby.  Quick glance on the Amherst side only.  Was going to check on Colby after dinner.  Just got off the podcast of Coach Mills....he is worried about Colby...realizing it is a dangerous team.  Thanks...the SID or the asst. SID will be sent an e-mail on the matter tonight.  I had sent them one earlier wrt to mixed up BB schedule.
Thanks for the heads up

gridiron

Amh63--appears to be Middlebury's roster left over from last week.  Could also be that Amherst is awaiting info from Colby SID??  I'm confident you've got the juice to get it updated!

amh63

Gridiron....I think it more of a "cut and paste" type computer error.....pulling up the wrong computer file.  Went to the story and my glance at the offense showed the Midd QB and the offensive players....like WR Luna.
Anyway, the e-mail will now follow shortly.
I do know the interim AD well....he is been looking to me for some funds..I just smile back :)

Perhaps HCOF Kelton has moved from Williamstown to Waterville. Hopefully, he filed the paperwork with the NCAA for all of the new Colby players he recruited for this week's game against Amherst.  :)

Trying to lend a littlle support to Nothing But Nescac which has done a fantastic job....

I'm not the best guy for this but I posted lines last week just to uphold the Board tradition.....Since no one else is coming forward I'll take a shot at it again this week, bear with me guys, especially board ambassador Frank U.......those who have posted lines in the past should feel free veto my entrys but in case no one else comes forward I post these lines for followers of the board:

Trinity -21 Tufts--- When Trinity wins by a slim margin against an inferior opponent the practice week in Hartford is pure Hell. Look for a blowout. Trinity effort at Hamilton was anemic and the Bantam staff treated it like a loss.

Amherst -3 Colby----Not sure if Lipani will go for Colby but his replacement might be better, Mules have some talent but loss of their all conference DB hurts them. Harrington still has a learning curve to deal with.....looks good at 6'4" with all the west coast stuff but hasn't hasn't faced the NESCAC iron yet....he will win the beauty contest but he ain't Ciero. Colby opponents are jamming Dunkleee hard and it is working. Luke Dunklee is one of the finest pure athletes in the league he's a bit like Cromwell at Williams last year. However, when you have a great player like Cromwell or Dunklee with no real balance in other areas teams can shut a great kid like that down- hope the Mules staff can figure out how to get this kid more involved in the offense because they have one of the very best in the league.

Wesleyan -21 Bates -----Bates is again nicked with some injuries- depth seems to be an issue again this year but I have to commend their QB Cannone again and their athletic defense. Harriman has some momentum with that program. He's engrained a philosophy that they will grind and grind and nothing seems to phase them....they are underdogs vs Wesleyan and if Cannone can't go it will be difficult for the Garnet, but don't expect Kempton defense to quit and look for some surprises on offense.
Wesleyan has a wagon as we all know- the Whale is a guy who has never had to deal with inferior talent but for his first year at Wesleyan----Hell, he followed a legend at Williams and to his credit he upheld the great tradition. He was handed a great deal at Williams but has now proven that he can do it on his own at Wesleyan. However, the accommodations he has negotiated in Middletown are on par with Trinity in terms of all the things a coach needs to succeed in the NESCAC. Two NESCAC programs have that luxury. Conclusion here is that Mike Whelan is a good coach but a master negotiator as reflected in his recognition of a winning deal with favorable terms wherever he has worked.....nice job if you can get it and the Whales knows just how to work out.....his next stop may be Wall St.

Hamilton -1 Bowdoin----It took a great performance by Caputi to silence the "Brunswick Vultures" who have now shifted their ateention to front running with the promising Bowdoin Basketball program. They had recently taken to grandstand dissing their football program with intense criticism and allegations of nepotism following a tough start with a young team....we call those guys Howard Cosell clones, frontrunners, where I come from. Understandable that they have retired from the board since Coach Caputi stuck to his guns and Caputi Jr came up big. A hint for you PB second guessers, the TEAM did not play well in the first 2 games but the TEAM, led by QB Caputi's toughness and leadership turned things around in Brunswick last week.......those are the qualities you deemed irrelevant earlier on this board.

Williams -3 Middlebury
Bates D just stifled the Ephs last week- the Ephs are under the gun but feel they have a chance to win this week at home- QB Lommen will be ok- Bates D confused a pretty good Purple passing game but this kid should be OK

Ouch.  You're gonna hear from banfan on that post, for sure.

Totally off-topic: Did anyone see Vinatieri recover his own onside kick tonight?  Most amazing kicker play I have ever seen.  At least, the most amazing one that didn't involve a snow plow.  Worth catching it on the halftime highlights.

EDIT: It was actually Pat McAfee who pulled the onside.  Still an amazing play from Special Teams.

Lumbercat...nice effort, but stick to commenting on others predictions and writing "pithy" posts. Not sure what you were smoking when you came up with your spreads/predictions. Williams -3 v. Middlebury...really??? I don't care that this game is in Keltontown, I'll bet the house on the Panthers if you give me 3 points. Our predictions come out tomorrow...I'll give you a hint, we are at least 13 points apart on that one. I'll make it an "exacta" bet taking Amherst and giving you and Colby 3 points. Remember, Colby doesn't score more than 7 points, so how are they going to cover? Only lose 10-7....fat chance. Look for our preview tomorrow....

NothingButNESCAC

Not bad lines Lumbercat. Interesting to see after the week how everything lines up. NESCACMan, lines are not the same as predictions. I might think that Wesleyan is going to beat Bates by more than 11 but odds are that they won't. Here are ours. Again every line is in relation to the home team.

Bowdoin at Hamilton (-3 and 1/2)- Bowdoin looked like a different team especially on offense but Hamilton is the favorite because of how well they have played the last two weeks. Hamilton really should have won against Tufts as well.

Wesleyan at Bates (+11)- This hinges on whether Cannone plays somewhat. Wesleyan has to start playing more complete games as their schedule is about to get harder.

Colby at Amherst (-10)- Amherst tends to play close games. Colby has not looked like the team we thought we would see in the preseason.

Tufts at Trinity (-15)- Jumbo fans might say this is a little high but after struggling to put away Hamilton I expect the Jumbos to come out firing.

Middlebury at Williams (+8)- Having a hard time trying to figure out Williams right now. Middlebury looks like the best of the rest after the top three.

Nescacman-
Geez, relax kid, I threw some lines out to try and stir things up a bit on the board- never said I was an oddsmaker...... I look forward to your entiries tomorrow but drop it back a notch Champ- don't take the whole thing too seriously- lets have some fun with it.

Nothing but NESCAC-
Thanks for your kind words but again have to commend you guys for your work- enjoy it immensely. You put a lot of work into your postings.
At the risk of getting totally killed I suggest that you guys need to monetize your Nothing but NESCAC endeavor...a lot of work is being expended by you guys and you need to be paid for your work.....don't believe subscribers to this board would object to a nominal payment for the quality NESCAC coverage that you provide.
