Believe one potential coaching change is the Whale moving over to be full time AD with the HFC job in Middletown going to the protege he brought with him from Williams.

In addition to the Whale, heard Bates' long time coach is at least considering stepping down.

Grid-
I heard that as well about Harriman but discounted it- it's now getting some traction.
Harriman has worked his ass off up there but it has been a long, tough road. He has battled to get the program up to a respectable level but not sure there is enough gas left in the tank to take the program that next step higher.

Hoping it's not true.  I gained a tremendous amount of respect for him this year.  Between the tragedy in Rome last spring, and the injuries to key players like Cannone during the season, it must have taken real effort to keep the kids positive and moving forward.  I'm sure it was emotionally draining, but the 'Cats' run down the stretch speaks volumes about how well Harriman did his job.  I know the kids love him; hopefully he can go lie on a beach with an umbrella drink somewhere, and reflect back on all he accomplished.

Polar Cat-
Believe you have a young student athlete in the Bates Football program and he is in a good place with current Bates administration and their dynamic new President and an AD that gets it. They like winning in Lewiston again and the great comeback against Colby has a left a lingering excitement surrounding the Bates Football program. There is renewed pride with the Garnet and Black and Harriman has rebuilt the whole damn program.

However, beleive he may want to pass the baton at this point.

The job he did surpasses the efforts of many who inherited strong winning traditions. Harriman was a very successful D Coordinator at Harvard who took the challenge as Bates coach head amidst a bizarre administration where a former President floated the idea of "eliminating varsity sports". It wasn't easy for Mark.

Like his players he is tough as nails and totally committed to his team but it's been a long tough road.
He's brought some great things to Bates and you can confirm that with the parents and his athletes.

Yup.

So we have mentions on one definite head coach change (Bowdoin) and four other possibles (Wes, Bates, Tufts, Williams). If all were to happen, that would be  50% turn over in a single year . .

Interesting re: Dicenzo.  In the event of a change at Williams, I wonder if he would be a candidate for that job as well ...

banfan

If you were Dicenzo, where would you want to coach, Williams of Wes? Assuming he has a choice.

Williams grad, former head wrestling coach at Williams, facility superiority at Williams, not having the shadow of Whalen (if that might be an issue).

Williams wanting you. They would be crazy not to. I am not on the inside at Williams at all but it sure would be a heck of a statement for Williams and may not allow Wes to continue at the top of the conference.

??????

The Smart Money says that DiCenzo is offered and takes the Wes job, happily for all parties fields wonderful teams continually and finally rides off into a Cardinal and Black sunset.

banfan

So Frank, who might be likely new coach in Williamstown? Or are they hanging in?

Got to see the NESN broadcast of the GAME on Friday....saw things that I missed watching live.  Considering the number of times I saw the Williams promo "ad" during the broadcast featuring the Williams AD...on sabbatical..and the HCOF featured....I would agreed with Frank U. wrt to no change.  Williams has too much "invested" now in their football program.

Amher63---not to be confused with "The Game" which of course is Harvard Yale. :)
