amh63, what is your point about the Wesleyan football players. You seemed to imply that they were thugs that needed to be policed by the AD and others. I wasn't there and didn't see it, but was it really that bad? Come on, they're college kids, and as they say, "no harm, no foul". So again, what exactly was your point. I thought this was a football site. Not sideshows somehow involving football players.

NTN.....what is your point?  Seems you are putting "word" that was not implied...like Thugs.  If you read my post of the game on Sat.....between WES and Trinity....you would know I enjoyed watching the Wes fans.  The announcers on Sat mentioned the Trinity security.
On Sunday....there was more security.  A poster at the game mentioned that the Wes AD was involved...along with others...implying they were assistant coaches.  I inferred the assistant football coaches, etc.   In any case....the intention of the effort seemed to prevent fans to rush the court before the trophy and team photos, etc.
Thought it would be of interest to Trin....since the AD was just recently the HFC of the Cardinals...interest to me wrt to the AD since I know him and like him.
Now once again....what is your beef here?
An check of the post on the MBB board....it mentioned that Trinity football coaches were assisting and that AD Whalen  had discussions with the football players.  Rushing the Basketball court is a little different than after a football game....wrt to timing.  The announcer mentioned that several bus loads of Cardinals fans had arrived...helps on the parking situation :)

Sheesh, NewtoNescac, lighten up.  Nothing offensive in amh63's post.  Just a little chatter on a slow news week here.

Now if he had said the Wes players brought their girlfriend Molly to the game, you'd maybe have a right to take offense.   ;D

Sorry, it sounded to me like a shot at the Wes football players. I'm glad it wasn't. I guess I can now lighten up.

NewtoNescac, I was the fan that was there next to the Wesleyan students at the NESCAC basketball tournament.  The crowd clearly had many football players in it (judged by labeled sweatshirts and other Wesleyan football attire).  Let's just say they were having such a good time that Whelan had to come over to settle them down to make sure that the security wouldn't kick anyone out; there were some close calls.  That's not limited to just the football players who attended the game.  All in all, nothing bad happened.  Just a friendly rivalry getting a little heated.

Appears from the NESCAC football website that the football season will begin one week later than usual.  First games are slated for September 26.  Has anyone heard why?  Season will not conclude until Nov 14.

Must be global warming! ;D  They figure mid-November will be better football weather than early September. ;)

Maybe Wes and Trin need an extra week to pare their rosters down from the 180 kids they each have reporting to camp?

Sorry.  Couldn't resist.  Here come the minus K's....

I wouldn't say there's a usual. I only had to go back to 2012 to see a season where the NESCAC season-ender lined up with the rest of Division III.

Upon reflection I think the real answer resides in the fact Labor Day is late this year--September 7.  Will push everything back as late as it could be for the eight game NESCAC schedule.

Shucks! .....Pat C.....to quick to provide a logic counterpoint post.  Spoil all the fun and games and posting of conspiracy theories.
Labor Day!......why is that a holiday?  With stories wrt to religious holidays cutting into the school year appearing....today's WSJ where Harvard decides to eliminate all religious days off to be fair...vice adding new ones, maybe there should be a movement of dropping Labor Day...after changing the name to Work Day first.
Read somewhere, the kids in Maine had days off from school in order to help with the Havesting of potatoes....true labor days in an earlier agriculture society.  Same thing wrt to the adjustment of the clock.
Nice try gridiron!

amh63, don't put your buggy whip away just yet.  Up in Aroostock County, the kids STILL get a week off school to help out at harvest time.  Good thing, too, because the teachers, school bus drivers, cafeteria workers and school custodians are right there with them.

A little slice of America the way she used to be, back in the Norman Rockwell days, before Al Gore invented social media, and we were barraged 24/7 with foolishness like the video of the OU fraternity boys.

Bowdoin has just announced the appointments of Coaches Bloom and Blumenauer as defensive and offensive coordinators, respectively.  Both served in the same capacities under JB Wells at Endicott.  Former Defensive Coordinator John Burrell has left the College and Offensive Coordinator Ryan Sullivan will remain as softball coach and will assume duties in the intramural area.

Polbear73....just picked up the info on the Bowdoin website...thanks for the info.  My takes....Bowdoin pays more than their former place of employment....the offensive coordinator is "relative young".
Maybe I missed some info, what if any are their connection to the new HFC?
