Agreed that is the bigger question.  Heard another coach has been hired but no confirmation as to whether or not they will be the OC.  Leadership from the HC is important at this time for sure.

Would love to see Dave Caputi land there.  His youngest daughter will be a FY lacrosse player at Colby next year.  And he would be spared all the QB controversy.

Having Caputi move to Colby would be a very interesting move to say the least!

How far of a commute would it be from Bowdoin to Colby?
Not that it matters...But...there is a noticeable change of titles at Amherst in the Football Program.  First....the former OFC became the AD.  The offensive line coach became the OFC.  The former assistant for QBs returned to Amherst from WPI...all last season.  When the interim AD was selected AD, the Athletic page on the website was changed via Presto....as were a number of CAC webpages. On the new format footbal website, there is only the HFC and all other coaches are listed as Assistant coaches.  most interesting...democratic yes.....but does not mean all assistants are compensated the same.  I know that the final call for hiring of coaches is by the Dean of Faculty.  Was told tHat by the former Dean of Faculty...returning to the Math dept.....during a luncheon chat at Homecoming when discussing the selection of the present WBB coach.
Now that Amherst has a position of Provost...does he do the hiring of Faculty, etc...?  yes, it is a slow day " at the office" :)

Driving at the speed limit, you can make it from Brunswick to Waterville in under an hour, a straight shot up the interstates (295 to 95).  Not as bad as some of us who are REALLY "at the office" face each day.

I have no doubt that Dave Caputi would be a great OC at Colby (or any other school, quite frankly). In spite of his Bowdoin Head Coaching record, the guy can coach and would be a great addition to any program.

Have heard through the years one of the challenges to putting together a successful coaching staff is to ensure those on the staff enjoy living in the particular geographic locale.  Seems fairly obvious but just as some students prefer city to suburban/rural, etc. (and vice versa), so do coaches.  Some of the more "remote" NESCAC schools (Hamilton, Williams, Middlebury, Colby, Bowdoin and Bates) need to ensure proper fit for coaches based upon location too.  I know it is a similar challenge for some D1 football programs as well.

As well as the ability for assistant coaches to supplement their incomes or those of their spouses.  I would think that is critical, even for full time assistants.

From what I hear, HC Michaels at Colby will be assuming the OC role next year. If true, it's a smart move, and should be confirmed asap. That will help right the ship over there.

gridiron

That would be the best possible outcome under the circumstances.  The team needs some continuity and Michaels did a good job as OC prior to taking over HC.

Anyone hear anything on the Colby OC situation? You would think they'd want to resolve it before the players left for the summer. Also, what's going on at Bowdoin in terms if a new direction? New field, relaxed admissions for football etc.

Since the NESCAC FB board is my spiritual home, I wanted to make my 200th post here, for sentimental reasons.

There is no meaningful content, but that was also true of my first 199 posts.

My apologies to anyone who got excited seeing there was a new post on this board.

Carry on.

Well, but now you can also do the karma thing. :)

Who is going to play QB at Middlebury.  Matt Milano had a great season as a junior last year, but they have the D1 transfer from Utah also, Jared Lebowitz.
