Wow!....seems the board posters covered all the bases with Tevin M.   Good job guys :)

PolarCat....the pix you provided reminds me of one in the movie "Blind Side" starring Sandra Bullock.
Difference being Tevin is a DT and the other person is a small child :).

Maybe....just maybe the young man may try basketball again.

Is Wells going to run  3-4? It looks like NT in that set would be the best fit for the Montgomery kid. Maybe a bit tall for NT, but at 300+ lbs. I'll take it. Could turn out to be a terrific 2 gap player.

I took a few minutes to watch some Endicott film. It appears they run a 3-4, and I assume Wells will run the same at Bowdoin. So Montgomery should be a great fit at the NT.

Talked to Wells recently and he called the defense a 4-2-5 but when describing the roles for every defensive player it seemed more similar to a 3-4 where one linebacker has to take on a lot of responsibilities rushing the passer and then defending the flat. Amherst runs a 3-4 somewhat like what Bowdoin will look like. Chris Tamasi played the role of havoc-wrecker for the Jeffs, and Wells is hoping to find someone like that at Bowdoin, though they don't want that player to have quite the size that Tamasi did so that he can do more in coverage.

As for Montgomery, he will be used primarily on the offensive line but Wells said he will mix in on defense too.

I'm shocked to hear Wells plans on using Montgomery on the O line. But then again I gaven't seen him move. Gearing this I assume the kid has good feet, which isn't surprising since he has a basketball background. It willhe interesting to see how it plays out.

I am very surprised of putting him on the O line.  With as fast as he is for his size I would think he would tear up O schemes.  But then again, I don't make any money making football decisions.  :)

Bowdoin had talent and depth on the defensive line last year with much of it returning.  The offensive line suffered more losses so that may be the rationale, particularly with the return of Tyler Grant and the breaking in of a new quarterback.  The jury is still out on whether Coach Wells will get the help he needs from Admissions, so I expect that he will be "creative" in utilizing the talent he has.

If we are a little patient and wait a couple of weeks more than a month, then we won't have to speculate so much.

polbear73

Very true, Frank.  But what's the fun in that?!

NewtoNescac

In about a month and a half this board will be filled with "substantive speculation". I can't wait to see what September 26th brings.

Amherst College seems to have put its thoughts on the matter.  There is a picture of the Pratt Field score board on the college Instagram social media link....with the attached comment " waiting patiently".  It will be lit up on Oct. 3 for the Bowdoin game since the Sept. 26 game is in Maine against the ever tough Bobcats!

It's anyone's guess if the Thfts transfer QB will work out. He lit it up playing HS ball for his father. I've seen too many HS QBs that have been studs playing for their fathers, many times being marginal players that have a system designed to showcase them by dad. Not at all saying that's the case with the Tufts kid, but it's something to think about when discussing his potential. The other thing to consider are his injuries at Dartmouth. Is he fully healed? That said, I really like, admire and respect the Tufts HC, so I hope this kid is the real deal for him and the program.

Interesting QB transfer to Tufts.  Another "older" student- athlete move from D-1 to D3....three years out of high school.  Tufts' HFC may not have used a "tip" for the man since there is a legacy link here.  Question that comes to mind are....how many seasons will the QB have?....will the coach have to change his offensive schemes for the gifted passer?
Hope the best for the young man.   However, I hope he does not have the success the last Ivy QB transfer had in tHe CAC...Foote from Brown to Middlebury.  A bit selfish of me, I know, especially since the QB Foote had an Amherst legacy...his dad.
Seems the conference have a number of interesting transfers in play when one considers the QB transfer to Middlebury.
Got the feeling the season ahead will prove to be the most competative in many years.
