Very relevant article on today's NothingbutNESCAC about Trey Brown of Bowdoin and how he got there.  Very interesting and worth reading for all NESCAC fans.

GREAT article.  +K to you, polbear for the find, and +K to Adam for writing it.

After reading the article about Trey Brown, you have to be pulling for that kid. I will.

I loved it when NBC brought us Men In Blazers, first for the Premier League, then for the World Cup.

What's better than Men in Blazers?  Why 'Cats in Pads, of course!  Check these out:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.497009887125293.1073741895.207942549365363&type=3

On an evening when I was particularly bored, I watched some of the incoming FY's HUDL films.  I think this kid Coy Candelario they show in the photos is a baller.  His HUDL lists him as a WR, but he played both ways at Brooks School.  Not overly big, not blazingly fastfast, but great hands but he can change direction beautifully.  Great hands.  And whether blocking or playing D he LOVES to hit people.  I saw flashes of Edelman in his highlight reel.  It will be fun to watch him develop.

Great game between MIT and WPI being live streamed here: http://athletics.wpi.edu/video/live

WPI leading 31-28 in the 4th, but MIT is driving.  Surprisingly good football.  Great fans (the fact it's a Friday night game may help).  And the kid announcing for WPI is really good.  Much more fun than watching the USMNT friendly.

Polar Cat,

Did you see Sean Murphy on WPI (Tabor)?  Playing awesome.  Also Jason Sylva (Tabor( played last night for Western Michigan on ESPNU against Michigan State.  Caused a fumble and a QB hurry.  Made some tackles too.

Yep.....watched the "engineer" bowl.  Nice game and video feed.  MIT driving to the 10 yard line of WPI...penalty, followed by an interception in the fourth quarter.....gave up on my Cambridge boys.
On Thursday, watched South Carolina vs North Carolina.  Like the atmosphere and the cheerleaders......mid season form :)
Also liked the "Ball Coach"...followed him at Florida.  Both teams showed first game mistakes/jitters.  Seems the Gamecocks were using young QBs and small backs.....quickness and speed appear todays needs in ball players..on both sides of the line.
Keep thinking about possible CAC opening games....mistakes from new QBs, young QBs....unknown defenses....need for improved defensive play, etc.  Watched the Ball Coach reactions.....watched the delays due to misunderstanding in plays between QB and the sidelines.  Expect the same in the first games to be played on the 26th.
Kept remembering Amherst Coach Mills comments about last year's Bates-Amherst game.  Talked about the mistakes made ....talked about the hard play....talked about being lucky and the tough Bates team.  Talked also about needing to improve.  Div 1, Div3....WPI, Amherst....so many first game similarities.

I apologize for beating this dead horse again and really understand that it will not bring it back to life, but if MIT, of all schools, can be comfortable with a 10 game schedule, play outside of the conference, and participation in the post season playoff system, why can't the NESCAC presidents?  The question is unfortunately rhetorical but sometimes it feels good to vent.  I feel better now.  Thanks.

At the risk of offending PETA, I'm happy to jump right in and beat on Seabiscuit with you.

Does anyone know when the NESCAC Presidents meet?  I am happy to "lobby" Clayton Spencer for a post-season, or at least an extra game.  I am sure others on here would do the same with their respective Prez's.  (The Amherst Prez should certainly listen to amh63, since he's offered to donate $3 billion to the college in return for his honorary Doctor of Nerdology degree).

But if they don't meet till late fall or the winter, it's probably better to let them deal with all the opening-of-school issues.  That will give us time to buddy up to them in the stands before we launch our coordinated attack.  Sort of like a Postseason Football Tet.

Of course, as Pat and others have noted, playing later also means starting sooner.  Our guys are just putting on pads for the first time, while other D3's are on the field competing.  That may be too much of a hurdle to overcome, even for a Prez who enjoys the came as much as Clayton Spencer.

Yeah, Sean was tearing it up.  Unfortunately, I did not see Jason - didn't realize he'd transferred there.  Sounds like Western Michigan really gave the Spartans a scare; must have been a great game.

How's your son's team doing?  Have they opened their season yet?

WMU actually could have been closer.  They dropped 2 td passes in the 1st half.....

John is coaching at Concordia Chicago.  They open up today.  He'd rather be playing in his first game though. lol.

So when does the NESCAC season officially start?  Columbus Day weekend?

. . .

Does anyone know when the NESCAC Presidents meet?  . . .

The next NESCAC presidents' meeting is on Nov. 12 in Boston. I would imagine some getting to know each other stuff would still be going on, with several new presidents, so probably not the meeting where the schedule would be expanded. There is another meeting in April, which might be the better target.

There also seem to be monthly Admintrators' meetings, some of which are on the phone and others of which are in person. That is probably the place where proposals to change the schedule would originate.
