Thanks for the clarification.  Got the info from a former Polar Bear player I spoke with over the weekend who graduated in 2013.

I do know that the fact that Bowdoin played Tufts just three weeks after the scrimmage in the regular season was the source of aggravation for the existing Bowdoin staff.  Probably for Tufts, too.

Back home...settling into Fall routine and chores in still Summer weather.  Must be all the hot air in the region.
Loose pieces of info.   Pre-season "camp' has ended at Amherst.  Via an Instagram announcement, Amherst has selected the starting QB...#15 jersey..Craig Carmilani.  The soph player is from Washington Township N.J., Westwood HS, a Jersey Boy :)....good state for football players historically for Amherst.  He played in only one game last year as a freshman.  Some credit is given to the QB coach who returned to Amherst last year.
There was a WSJ story early in the week dealing with how several NFL coaches were "countering" the trend to hurry up offense.  Primarily it was changing up the defenses via signals...via wrist bands with signal info....multi players.  Will see if any CAC coaches will try it out.

I may be wrong, but I think the account was referencing a competition they held during camp similar to the quarterback challenges the Pro Bowl used to exhibit, and not the starting job. Guess we'll have to wait until we get closer to opening day to see if that is the case.

I, too, would be very surprised if the competition for the QB position at Amherst is over at this early juncture.

Maybe you should have gone to Union or RPI or Hobart or Rochester if you wanted to play nine or ten games with a post season.

Wait.  Union plays football in the post season?????  Are we talking about the same Union?

A general opinion regarding competition for positions and/or playing time. Competition makes teams, and individual players, better. Same as in life. That is one of the reasons Whalen turned it around at Wesleyan so quickly. If you did not produce for him, you sat. Or worse, you were gone. The lower tier teams would be well served to follow that advice if they truly want to win.  If you lose every game, ie. Hamilton, or only two, ie. Williams, no position should be safe. Just my humble opinion on building a winner.

TheHerst2and4.....re read the item with the video.  I may have jumped the gun.  We shall see. Thanks all....I do get excited at this time of the year.  Did watch some night games of the other sport called football....spelled funny though....tough players with NO padding anywhere.   Just kidding.  With few exceptions, CAC teams are dominating the matches even when starting late and fewer practice days.

Is anyone else having trouble getting on Nothingbutnescac.com?

We are doing some redesigning and other web stuff that is going to help us a lot in the long term. We know it's not an ideal time to do it, but we should be back online by Monday at the VERY latest. Sorry about that.

No problem. I thought it was something I was doing wrong. Thanks for posting.

May we never forget the tragic events of September 11, 2001. I have closed my office each year on 9/11, in remembrance of the events of that day, and always will.

May we never forget! I never ever will!

And, may God Bless America!

PolarCat....should be interesting when the feature Bates LB meets Amherst Big RB..all 6'2", 225 plus...on the 26th.  Amherst has to replace three starting offensive linemen..so am a bit worried.
Nitpick comment on the Bates pre- season roster website post.  Seems that one new player is given special attention...has two spots on the roster!  Looking at the hometown/ school listing..first thought Bates recruited twins :).
