Is there a professional video guy who films the games over there?  Would love to get a copy of the Williams v Amherst scrum this Saturday.  New to this board.  Sorry for jumping in on this thread!

Pat Coleman

You are highly unlikely to get video of a scrimmage, but there is live video of just about every D-III game.

I think Belichick has a guy you could talk to.

WestcoastDad.....are you talking football or Rugby?  Just kidding.  Do not even know where the " scrimmage" is being held.  Where is your interest....or  link to a player?  Suggest you check with a Williams staff if the scrimmage is in Willytown.  PolarCat is half serious, me thinks....since the Patriot's coach is a former Wesleyan player...and film of the " farce" ....my term of the mtg...would help the Cardinals to check out players on both sides.  The only thing that would be helpful having a scrimmage would be to the kickers...field Goal Kickers....maybe!
Do not think the Amherst side will release any film if it is at Pratt Field.  The annual battle in November is in Willytown this year.

Speaking about Williams....there is a bunch of info about where to tailgate, how to get there, etc. on the EPHs football website.   This info will help PolarCat's book.
However it seems that fans will be checked....like at the airport...for alcohol and other things.
What is going on these days at Nescac games....first Middlebury and now Williams :).  Oh well, like the Bob Dylan song?..." The Times, they are a changing..." :'(

gridiron

Amh63--I hear ya on checking for alcohol at the tailgates.  However, in the spirit of accuracy, it was Williams that started several years ago with Middlebury instituting the new policy only last season.  Many alum, parents, etc. are not making the change easily as I saw many irate with Williams security a few years back.

My interest is in the Amherst squad.  Lots of competition and many spots being competed for.  I'm wondering if they brought in a QB and speed wide out.  Last year's offense was sluggish.  You guys provide great insight for newcomers btw.  It would be nice to see nescac schools play outside the 9

New to Nescac reports numerous injuries on Bates squad that will limit the Bates - Colby scrimmage.
What do your sources report? Hope nothing significant especially at the QB position where they are very thin.

PolarCat

First, NewtoNescac is correct about the scrimmage location being in Lewiston not Waterville.  Glad I qualified my source as being "usually" accurate, as this time he was not.

The only injury I have heard of is to a backup WR.  There may be more, but I am unaware of them.

I love the school football history and rivalries in the NESCAC.  And I also have no problem with the key rivalry games being held mostly in week 8 each year.  But I have always wondered why the rest of the schedule can't be rotated around.  Why is the schedule the same every year?

I think it would be interesting to rotate the order of the first seven games each year.  Is this too difficult, or is there another reason this is not done in the NESCAC?

I really enjoy the league, so I am not complaining.  Just think it would be fun to switch up the order of games from year to year.  Thoughts?

lumbercat

Thanks PC

New to Nescac- is your info on Bates injuries first hand information?

NewtoNescac

Lumbercat, it was first hand. But "injury" means different things to different people. I didn't think it was my place to ask specifics. It's quite conceivable Bates has too many players "banged up" to have a full out scrimmage the week before opening day. But it was made clear to me the scrimmage was going to be lighter than usual for that reason. Sorry I don't have more specifics.

I see, Thanks for the info, just curious. Appreciate the response.

WestcoastDad....welcome to the board!  Interesting comment wrt to Amherst's offense being sluggish.
The OT win at Middletown Ct. Last season was a slugfest...high scoring in the rain.  The one point win in the Coop against Trinity was won in wet weather against a tough opponent....by a blocked extra point!  The win against Middlebury in wet weather was scoreless for most of the game.  Yes low scoring but all tense fun to watch games.  Give the defensive side of the opponents credit.
Blowouts are dull.  Just my cup of tea.

Hamgrand....unfortunate the schedule of the football playing schools are NOT the same.  Ever two years or so, there is a schedule change due mostly to the 8 game season.  Two years ago, three teams tied for the title with 7-1 records....records that were not really the same, IMO.
Next season, Amherst will start the season against Hamilton, vice Bates.  I get to visit Clinton, the Village of.  Looking forward to it even with an improving Hamilton Program.....Bates has become a tough team in the modern era.  Just ask Williams! :)

NewtoNescac

I love Westcoastdad's observation that Amherst has lots of competition at positions. I'd venture to guess it is a significant reason why they've been so successful. Whelan at Wesleyan took the same approach, and that program turned around quickly. No coincidence.

Add Tufts to the competitive camp category.
92 bodies in camp with 30 FYs.

No sign of promising Soph QB Grant Kraemer who was a very highly touted recruit last year from Northridge, Ca. or senior QB Drew Burnett who had been in the Jumbo QB mix in past years.
This brings the total QBs in Tufts camp down to 6. Talk about competition.
