JEFFFAN...nice to point out that "old" Bowdoin press article.  Read it.....but forgot which publication....the official one or the student press?
It also should be pointed out that the Amherst Admission Dean is a Williams alum and former Admission Dean at Williams.  His wife had gotten involved with admission at nearby Hampshire College and a move to the Pioneer Vally soon followed.  The Amherst Dean was most interested in pushing athletic recruits from his former NYC prep school.  Remember when his daughters were ready for college and he discussed his trip to a Maine CAC school in a visit with his kids.  He remarked that the Prez of the college greeted him.  Did not name the school but the described views point to Bowdoin.  His admission visit was written in the Admission annual report to Secondary Schools...at the time.  He only retired several years ago.

Seems CT based ESPN had a brief video acknowledgement of the Williams- Amherst game.  not much, but can be seen in a Instagram video on the Amherst football Twitter/ Instagram site.  Just some CAC info.  I got word that NESN may replay the video of the Jeff - Ephs match this Sat.  Could not find the details.
Overall, want to thank all the posters here for their participation.  Got through thr season without too much discord...interesting and often funny/ witty posts.  For a 8 game season, this board produces a lot of pages.  May we have a 9 game season soon!

Our sources tell us that league awards and all-league teams will be announced as early as tomorrow. Early congrats to OPOTY Chance Brady from Tufts, DPOTY Jimmy Fairfield-Sonn from Amherst and ROTY Max Chipouras from Trinity. As far as all league, Amherst will have  7 first teamers, Trinity 10 (including 5 on defense), Tufts 4, Middlebury 5, Wesleyan 3,  Bates 1, Colby 1, Hamilton 1, Bowdoin 0, Williams 0. Not sure of Coach of the Year, but it will come down to Mills, Devanney, Civetti and DiCenzo. We'll go with Mills for another 8-0 season.

The Purple Moose may be closer than some might admit...

NY Times: Amherst Mascot Gets Thumbs Down From Faculty

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/18/us/amherst-mascot-gets-thumbs-down-from-faculty.html?smprod=nytcore-ipad&smid=nytcore-ipad-share

In a nonbinding vote that will be presented to the board of trustees next year, faculty members decided unanimously that Lord Jeff should no longer serve as the school's unofficial mascot.

I would also add a congrats to our former boardmate, Mr. Baker, on his son once again being selected 1st Team All-NESCAC. Congrats on a great career and best of luck to #72 Lyle Baker as he heads into the real world.

Haven't posted much since my son graduated from Tufts in 2006 but frequent lurker.  Random thoughts on the season and comments from the board's more frequent posters:

Obviously the season was a great success if you're a Jumbo.  First couple of seasons for Coach C were difficult to say the least but he did inherit a bare cupboard situation.  By all accounts he is a class act and has done an amazing job turning the program around.....recrruting has imroved dramatically and the school has rallied around the program.  Having a school president that truly gets it and sees the value of investing in sports doesn't hurt either.  The future is bright for the Jumbos.  Funny comment about Williams being "in the sticks".  When my son visited on a recruiting trip he obvously was impressed by the program (circa 2002) but he stated there was not enough concrete...hence ending up at Tufts.  It's always been said that being located near Boston should be a recruitng advantage....maybe that's finally the case with Coach C at the helm.  I've hyped the Jumbocast on-line broadcasts for years...they've always done a great job, even back in the mid-2000's. It is the best in the conference. Finally the unis....despite P-Cat's constant protests....we LOVE the Brown and Blue!!!

Congrats on a great season....GO JUMBOS!!!

mariner75.....welcome back!  Hope you stay and join the fun.  We do need some more Tuft's poster.  There were some in the " dark ages" of Jumbo football.
Next season could be even better....Tuft's is now in the upper tier in many high profile sports and some lesser ones too.

PolarCat

I think "constant protests" is a bit of an overstatement.  The Jumbos' uniforms aren't my favorites, but they are nowhere near as bad as some others I've seen, like the Polar Bears "white-out conditions" look, the Steelers' "bumblebee" retro kits, or the monochrome outfits the Bills and Jets wore last week.  ("Wait, where's the channel?  The channel markers keep moving.")

And when the Purple Moose becomes official, the Jumbos' unis will look pretty tame by comparison.

By the way, is there any truth to the rumor that Tufts will be changing its mascot, due to GHOST's claim that "Jumbo" is a body-shaming micro-aggression?  (GHOST = Group of Horribly Overweight Students at Tufts).

mariner75

Haha!  Nice!!  Yeah...."constant protests" probably was a bit overstated!

When can an announcement on Coach Kelton returning, or not being given a new contract, be expected? I think the ED deadline passed, so they can't be waiting on that initial batch of recruits to commit. Curious about the direction of that once great football program.

FYI.....there is a highlight film of the Amherst-Williams game in Billsville.  Shows the nice crowd on the Ephs side and the Coach Mills pre- game talk....a little more emotional than usual, IMO.  I believe he was aware of the historic nature of this game for the football program.....and how difficult a win it can be at Williams.

Silence is, in fact, the announcement.

Frank, I'm not so sure. According to some postings The Colby HC's contract is up fir renewal, yet nothing has been announced there, and I don't think the silence means anything.
