NESCAC follower -
Thanks for the info - don't have to see much more than the Hudl clips to confirm that this kid is an athlete with speed. Bates coming out of the blocks convincingly in terms of recruiting so far this year.
Also hearing accounts of more recruits from southern Cal.
The Bobcat coaching staff is working their butts off and it looks to be paying off.

Kody Greenlagh, a QB from the St. Georges School of Rhode Island, has committed to Bates. (Came across this from reading an article on the SG FB team)

From the looks of his Hudl film, this kid can really play. An all-around great athlete, can throw and pass the ball. He'll be a great addition to the Bates football program.

I like what I see, especially in Bates' option offense.

I've heard absolutely zero about Williams football recruits in the ED round.   Not a good sign.   All the uncertainty can't be helping.  I still find it hard to believe that the school would bring Kelton back on a one-year lame duck contract.  That makes no senses whatsoever and would only just set the program back even further, as why would any recruits who any other school might want have any interest in such a situation?  If somehow the school screwed up his employment situation so badly that they feel compelled to give him another year, why not just buy him out?  The money is small potatoes compared to what they just spent on the new football facility.

Nescac1....the bits and pieces wrt football HC are indeed conflicting and confusing...even to me, an "outsider".  First, I prefer to see Williams with a competative program.  The historic bond between our schools and the sports battles over the centuries are also historic.  A win over a tough opponent is sweeter than a weak one.  Having said that....some thoughts.
First, in an earlier post at the beginning of the season, there was a mention that the HC was offered a buyout of sorts...look for another job and we will pay the remainder of your present contract.  Therefore, I do not think it is about the money....and the story of an 1 year extension...makes even less sense.  Compared to the cost of the new facility, the cost of a 3-year buyout is peanuts/potatoes.
I feel that the extension story is a "red herring" of sorts.  Maybe tied to recruiting matters.
Your lack of ED info is also a reason for my post.  I read on the Williams website the info of Williams ED class!  It is Huge...44.7 percent of the 550 target class of 2020.   Surely, Williams did NOT bring in 50 plus football recruits!  In any case, Amherst's ED class is normally less than half that percentage.
Again, I hope things work out for the best.

The Wellesley High QB is going to Williams.  He was a tough smart kid but probably not a QB in college.  (I believe Kelton's brother coaches at Wellesley and Kelton himself is also from Wellesley).

From a couple simple twitter searches, I came across two Bowdoin commits, a Colby commit and all I have to say is wow I am impressed. If Coach Wells continues to recruit kids like this at Bowdoin then the program up in Brunswick is not far from a winning season, at all. And the Colby defensive tackle looks like a good addition to Colby's defense.

Greetings from Florida! New to the board but have had a crash course on NESCAC football over the past 3-4 months due to my son being contacted by and us recently visiting a few schools in the conference.

Reading the previous 100 pages of this board has been invaluable so thanks for dropping the knowledge.

My son is a DIV 1 student but a DIV 3 football player so that is why he is looking at the NESCAC schools. Some very cool history and rivalries and some some amazing campuses.

Upon our return to Florida I was telling my buddies that if you were to replace the stands at the schools that hold 5000 people with stands that hold 50000 there would be very little difference in the quality of facilities with many of the D1 schools down here in the south.

Hoping things work out and he lands on 1 of the 3 schools we visited because they were impressive!

News out of Billsville HFC tendered his resignation to pursue other opportunities.  Nationwide search to be conducted for next HFC for Williams Ephmen.  Lets hope they get the right guy to lead the Ephmen back to prominence.

Where did you hear this? Is it on the Williams web site?

Kelton is a good man and I hope he lands on his feet and finds a good job, likely as an assistant at a bigger program.  I wish him nothing but the best, but Williams had no choice but to make a change and I'm glad they have moved on and hopefully can begin to rebuild.  (Although did he really have to blame injuries AGAIN on the way out the door ... every football team deals with injuries, it's the nature of the beast).  With what figures to be a mostly-lost recruiting year and not a ton of big-time talent in the hopper, it's going to take awhile for Williams to get back on track.  But, if a new coaching staff instills a new culture of player development, some of the young players have the chance to emerge as very good players as upperclassmen.  Of course, they really need to bring in a few massively talented recruiting classes -- the sell should be very easy and they should model it after what Amherst did in 1993 when the program was rescued very quickly from an even deeper hole.  A chance to play right away and turn around a struggling football program but one with the best historical tradition in the league, and with tremendous alumni support.  Not to mention the best football facility in the league.  If admissions gives a LITTLE more help than they have in recent years for just a few yaers, perhaps also embracing the Amherst / Midd model of bringing in a few star transfers here and there to bolster key positions, Williams should be back in the top half of NESCAC within two to three years, easily.

Any speculation as to potential candidates? I have no idea if they would be interested, but both Harvard coordinators should be at the top of the list if they are.  Joel Lamb in particular looks perfect: deep New England coaching ties, history of developing QBs and an offensive innovator, and even four years of experience as an Amherst assistant.  I'd do everything possible to nab someone like this, but he may be holding out for a D1 head coaching gig:

Scott Larkee would also be a great choice:

I have a feeling Lamb is going to wait until Murphy retires.....
