Amherst QB "dogfight" is:

Front runner is Junior Craig Carmilani from NJ... He's the steady one.  He was #2 all of 2015.  And he's the confidence of the coaching staff.

Challenger is the "gunslinger" who fell out of favor in 2014 (when the staff tried to hand him the job and he couldn't handle it as a soph)... now Senior Alex Berluti.   He was #3 all of 2014 (post the (3rd) Middlebury game) and all of 2015.

Some Eph rumor mill...

1.  The converted DB to QB who was the slated QB starter, like the Amherst #1 QB, tore his ACL in practice a few days ago and is out for the year.  Ephs have NO idea who the QB will be... they've a couple of non-QB's on the roster to include a Canterbury kid (James "JJ" Dunn) who was slated to be a WR/Athlete starting the season.  (He played QB in high school but isn't considered a college QB.) Right now the QB spot is just an absolute unknown in Billsville.

2.   Ephs started practice with something like 65 to 68 players (before the injuries).  This # PALES in comparison to Amherst and Trinity who typically start with 90 to 99 players (who then have to cut down to the mandated 75.   The Ephs starting with this few folks bodes VERY poorly for a season.... one has to figure that 20+ (as per EphPapa2020) are frosh... that leaves 40+ as upperclassmen..... That few upperclassmen implies a tough go for the Ephs in 2016.   Rumor mill in Billsville also says that the Eph JV schedule is at risk for cancellation given the #'s.    My Eph prediction still stands.

Can anyone confirm that Colby and Bates are scrimmaging, and when. I don't see anything posted to the web site.

NESCAC.Football.Observer

And a question to WestCoastDad (and the other Amherst/LJ guys) re the Lord Jeff RB situation:

You (and others) have mentioned (actually referred to with no names) Soph stud Hickey and the from FL Senior Raheem Jackson... What about Junior Hasani Figueroa (who is supposedly the hardest/quickest of all of them) and the (if healthy) best of them all, Senior Nick Kelly?

Is Kelly healthy?  If so... He's the incumbent starter, no?  He was 2nd team All NESCAC as a soph, and only injuries held him back a year ago........

Scrimmage is historically late Friday afternoon, the weekend before the season starts.  If they follow the same procedure, that would wake it Friday afternoon, September 16th, but I have not seen that confirmed.  I think it's Colby's turn to host this year, but I could be mistaken.

Hey all!  Another FY parent jumping on board...  are there any other outlets that cover NESCAC football?  Looks like Nothing But NESCAC did a nice job, but looks like that's over.   Season can't start soon enough for me!

If Observer's rumors herein contained are true, it may be time for Williams to dust off Charlie Caldwell's 1951 definitive tome, Modern Single Wing Football. Or (for you knowledgeable sophisticates) to steal Kansas State's play book.

Wow thanks for the updates... I haven't been able to get more than two words from my boy. This is going to be a long season... Have you heard anything about the Exeter kid Cahill at QB? Football is a game of attrition, and with those type of numbers, 1-7 doesn't seem like a reach. I will be at the Purple and Gold Scrimmage this Saturday, I pray for good health for all of these young men.

ColbyFootballDad

There are several good FYs at Colby. I have nothing to compare it to yet but what I have heard from my son is that there are some great athletes among his peer FY players on both sides of the ball.

Football info starting to pick up a bit.  Still no input from any Tufts, Middlebury, Hamilton, and even Wesleyan posters yet.  Come to think of it, not much info out of those schools in recent seasons...exception was the Hamilton fan who recently returned, stating he has a son playing at Middlebury...Hamilton son graduated.
Question to the longest handle poster..NFO...there shorten it :).  Was the injured QB at Williams from Easton, Md.  There was a recruit from Easton that played QB in HS but ended up at another position.
Also, there was a FY QB player, named J.Dunn on Williams' 2015 roster...good size and el.  What happened to him...from your friends/ rumor mill?
If the injured QB is the one rom Easton Md., I may have a story on the player to share.

Pep has no idea who the Continentals will beat or by how much, but Pep will guarantee that Coach Dave Murray's boys, whoever they are, will win 4 games this year. It's bound to happen.
