Sounds like a VERY talented hire for a D3 AC position.  Quite a resume to be announced 8 weeks before preseason starts.  Perhaps he's being groomed as Michaeles' replacement?  Though I admit I wondered the same thing with last year's OC, and that didn't seem to work out too well for the Mules.

Answer my own question in an earlier post.  Seems football practice will commence in the first week of August!  Heck, have plans to be up in NY state in August after family gathering at the Delaware shores.  Maybe check in on some D3 practices in the Ithaca area....avoiding the State Fair in Syracuse :).
Has anyone else notice the lack of info on Middlebury recruits.  Midd's website provides no open links to the Panthers' class of '21.  For a solid football program, this board seems to have a dearth of supporters, imo.  Just shaking the trees for info from the Green Mountains residents.
We depend on Lumbercat for our recruiting news, primarily.
No one has better info.

Anyone have any intel on Billy Football, incoming Williams QB?
I'd think he's probably the biggest recruit in NESCAC history in terms of a national following.
I don't even know his real name, just that he goes by Billy Football and is an intern on one of the biggest sports podcasts in the nation "Pardon My Take" on barstoolsports.com
Looking at Williams roster, he might have a chance to play right away?

Goodness, AO!
You're going to have nescac1 burning up the internet.
We can expect a comprehensive report here very soon.

1) I don't know who he is -- how do you know he is affiliated with Williams?
2) Bobby Maimaron (Gatorade POY in Mass) has been much-discussed as an incoming Williams QB recruit, but I have no idea if that is the same guy.  The Ephs have at least one other QB recruit coming in, but I can't recall his name right now.
3) Williams went 0-8 last year, and this is the first recruiting class for an entirely new coaching staff.  It's fair to say that ANY frosh has a chance to play right away for the Ephs, and I imagine we will see at least 4-5 frosh starters to start the season.  Certainly Maimaron does, although Williams did have two frosh QBs last year who showed at least some promise so it will be an interesting position battle.

I can't think of ANY NESCAC football recruit who ever had a national following of any kind ... or heck, any NESCAC athletic recruit, period, who has.  Although perhaps there is one out there ... plenty of guys with regional following for those in the know, but no one who would ever resonate outside of their state.

I was fooled, Maiamaron and Cotter look alike.

Scouting report on Will Cotter, QB - Hackley HS: 6 ft 3 in 200 lb QB has a big frame, great touch, but not much zip and tends to get happy feet in the pocket. Big fan of ketosis diet but not too great at speaking into the mike (see today's PMT episode). Should be a decent player for the Ephs. For sure a locker room guy with lots of grit.

Looks like Cotter also plays LAX, as does Bobby Maimaron.  So it should be quite a rivalry in Willytown this preseason.

In the past couple of weeks, my son and I have each had interesting conversations with Bobby's dad, Dave Maimaron, who coached Bobby to a Super Bowl win at Duxbury HS.  As a coach who has sent a lot of players on to play college ball, it was fun to hear Coach Maimaron's comments on various NESCAC coaches, and how they handle recruiting.  VERY interesting.

Afraid those comments will stay close to the vest for the next 4 months, till my son's CAC career is over.  But if you run into Coach M. at an Ephs' game this year, it might be fun to chat him up....

Thanks for the info.  With the two rising sophomore QBs and the two incoming frosh, all with quite different styles, that's at least a lot of competition, flexibilty and depth at the position for the next three years.  The Ephs have some decent talent at TB and WR returning (not exceptional, but respectable, and helps to have the entire two-deep back at each spot after some very green guys got a lot of reps last year) but offensive line is where the Ephs are DESPERATE for immediate help.  Some of the incoming frosh OL look interesting and I imagine will get a chance to play very early.  But a running QB like Maimaron might have an edge, because against the better NESCAC squads, the Eph QB, whoever he may be, will be running for his life quite a bit next year unless the incoming OL mature very, very quickly.

Interesting to note from a few posts back that Amherst has two more higher-level transfers coming in ... again.  The Jeffs seem to average one scholarship-level transfer per year, roughly, in football.  And they will have two top-notch transfer QBs (Foy and the highly-regarded recruit) on the roster, alone.

Looks like Bobby had an FBS offer to App State and was at one point committed to D2 Assumption.  Had to be quite a recruiting ride.

Just looked at that Billy Football (???) Twitter account.  Kid's lucky he's going to Williams.  An incoming frosh with a big ego and "Look at me!" attitude might have a harder problem fitting in at a program with a larger upperclass presence, and more competition for playing time.

Come September, my money is on Bobby "Walk Softly" Maimaron to be ahead of Billy Football on the depth chart.
