Amazing that Pat Coleman could be all over this board when it came to posted stats, but totally invisible as it runs off the rails into another political morass.

Sorry -- I don't spend 24/7 on the board. I have a job, too. If you like, I'll gladly lock this board for a day or two so I don't have to babysit you guys.

Here's an idea -- the board contains a report to moderator function. If you don't like something, USE THAT rather than gripe about me being or not being online at a particular hour.

Alright, listen -- if you want to bitch and moan at me about not moderating, yet don't have the common sense to report posts, I have no real sympathy for you. I'll leave this board open but my next move is to pre-moderate certain posters, or eliminate them if necessary.

Agreed -- this board has spiraled, and badly. When the rest of my team found out that the first board I have locked in years belonged to THE NESCAC, they were shocked.

Mr. Ypsi

Pat, since several other boards have threatened to go off the rails, but been pulled back short of disaster by 'regulars', my guess was that you had been following this board but expected the same to happen.  But, of course, even YOU can't be everywhere 24/7! ;)

I agree with your staff that it is rather stunning that the first board you felt the need to temporarily lock-down was the NESCAC.  Proof yet again that academic reputation and common sense are not necessarily synonymous!  (Spoken as a retired college professor.)

Well, not everyone here is a graduate of a NESCAC school, so ... but yes, often boards moderate themselves. I found myself right back in 2006 or so with this one.

Grabowski

Scores against common opponents remarkably similar for Wes and the Mamhoths, looking forward to a slugfest Saturday.  Same deal as last year, the season will be 2/3 over for one squad, 90% done for the other.

Illegitimi non carborundum "Don't let the bastards grind you down".                                                                                                                                    ;''

Heading to Lewiston tomorrow.  Staying at Residence Inn.  Anyone know a good place for dinner Friday night.  Doesn't need to be fancy, just good food and local beer. Suggestions?

Looking for Midd to bounce back strong Saturday after last weeks heart breaker.  They needed to win out to win championship - and that still goes - so position hasn't really changed. Hope they keep the gas on offensively and don't get conservative late in game.  That and a conservative prevent like defense has hurt them in second half.  Wes and Williams mounted their comebacks by targeting 80% of their plays as short passes and running plays towards the boundary corner playing several yards off the line.  That and some well timed QB scrambles gave them fits.

Looking forward to another fun weekend of football!  And tailgate!  Good luck to all.  Go Midd!

I would recommend DaVincis in Lewiston if you can get in.
Grittys brewpub is good too—if you are into Bates Bobcat football and want to see some of the old memoribilia I would go to Gippers in Auburn across the bridge....in the old days they would ask patrons if they went to Bowdoin or Colby before granting admission....was all tongue and cheek and a lot of fun.

Maybe PolarCat will weigh on this one - he knows some good spots in L-A.

lumbercat, Thanks for the suggestions.  I will definitely have to check out Gippers and peruse the Bobcat memorabilia.

We'll slightly disagree with you...the loser of this game is done. The winner can still win both the Little 3 and the NESCAC title. The loser, well, there is always 2018.

Oh, and for the record, thank god for the Yanks. We were so pre-occupied that all we could do was stand by and watch the stupidity that got the Board suspended. Hopefully, now we can just stick to football, the overrated Ephs, Hartford State, Micheales bashing, etc!

Nice. I don't know Latin per se but I've taken enough modern languages to see the connection. :)

Goodness.  Current news of the day (yesterday) mixed in with a topic (the photo) that the board (not I) was still discussing.
I lived in England for 3 years.  Formative years too.  Ages 10-13.  The blokes sense of humor is off the chart cheeky.   But they don't take themselves so serious.
It was a simple attempt at humour.  I'm betting that #45 would have agreed.

Lumbercat?  Really....politics to the board?  Trump was a USFL owner back in the 80s.  Jimmy Brown was both a superstar athlete and very political man.  You had zero problem when his name came up previously dude.  lighten up.   smh.

Wusah.

Great article in Washington Post ....by Kelly.  Check it out.  Its pretty insightful about what had transpired between he and 45 prior to the phone call.  Kind of a tutoring session for someone who has never served (in fact has 5 deferments) and might not know what to say to the next of kin.    But dare I venture off topic.  Back to sports!

I've got two tickets for the game in Foxboro Sunday night.  First time and probably LAST time to see Patriots.  My very good friend, Sam Cunningham gave me two of his jerseys for the occasion (one for my son).  They will wear like dresses I think.  He's a size 52.  Andre Tippett will be honored.  Special ceremony for the military as well.  Can't wait!

As for game against Wesleyan......... it will be a nail biter.  I'm just going to enjoy the New England fall weather on a Saturday afternoon.......watch my kid and his teammates try and improve to 5-1 and stay in the race for first place....then find a sports bar and watch USC v Notre Dame game around 730p.  Going to be a long long day (red eye flight).

PolarCat....... be nice and whoever it was that I read was a 25 year Marine.....thank you for your service.  I'm a military brat and many many in the family served.  Me?  A ROTC drop out.

Peace

AmDad

Heading to my first NESCAC game this weekend, Amherst - Wesleyan.  Should be a good one and looking forward to being there in person... while I appreciate that the games are streamed, its been tough watching them online.  As an aside, I preferred the second half of the Colby game's audio.  Much better to hear the crowd and the game announcer. #Tusksup
