Enjoy us while you have us.  Like your full head of hair, your 32 inch waistline, and your prostate, we'll be gone before you know it.

Here's a perspective from a team on the short end of blowouts.  Based on my experience at the games Hamilton has played so far, I would rank the teams with the worst behavior (i.e. disrespecting and showing up the losing team, coach behavior etc.) as follows:

1.  Amherst. By far.

2.  Wesleyan.

3.  Trinity. Well below the other two.

nescac1, I heard it from the parent of a recruit who knows a current starter for Williams.  Again, I'm not a follower of the Williams depth chart.  I'm pretty sure that I qualified that when I mentioned the comment.  I really could care less.

But, Harris is their leading rusher and he's a senior.  Maybe the kid was referencing defense where 6 of their top players are juniors or seniors.

If I do recall, Helton was relieved of his duties very late which led little time for the current coach to recruit?  Sophs, Juniors and Seniors are Helton players most likely.

But, of course, the true game changer is the QB.

Was just a comment that I passed along.  If not accurate, then it's a perception of one of their own players.

i'm down to two of the 3.  Depressing PC!!

sheesh.

btw, son and I attended the patriots / falcons game last night.  wearing our "loaned" to us sam Cunningham gear (blue jersey was a 50th year anniversary jersey but we didn't know this lol).

the patriots fans are off the chart LOUD and FUN.  we had a blast.  the subject of nescac even came up in our area of the stands as my son mentioned that Amherst ran a very similar defense since a former Pats player was on staff.  seeing andre tippet, john Hannah and mike Haynes inducted into the Patriots HOF.......tribute to cancer survivors including TB12's mother and seeing all 4 "forces" (army, navy, airforce and marines) in full military gear as part of their ceremony.... special night.

and, of course, having just beaten Wesleyan.......the alma mater of Mr bill belichek.

we were section 137 row 4 for fog bowl II

last on the bucket list will be to attend the Gahden when the Lakers are in town.  peace

I don't want to name names because whatever these kids do, they're kids and don't warrant being called out by us.  But let's just say, late game, i.e., game well over, trash-talking and belittling.  outrageous excessive celebration, by starters, of late-game garbage time scores. late-game, i.e. game well over, taunting and scuffling.  and worst of all, coach trash-talking opponent players.  You know, as a parent you feel things in the stands about the way the opponent is handling it's trouncing of your boys.  It's never fun, and I'm not denying kids' right to celebrate, but there's ways to do it and ways not to do it.  so just say that Trinity was not even close to being the worst offender.  nothing that happened in the loss to Trinity gave reason for unhappiness.  other than parents screaming for more up until the last second of play.  but they're parents, so they get a pass.

To the Bates and Colby people, what's your analysis of this week's "big" game. Colby is tough against the run, but has lacked a real pass rush and shown some vulnerability defending the pass. I think Bates needs to shut down the Colby running game and force them to beat you with the pass. They must take limit the swing passes to  the back, and not allow the long pass behind the safeties. Colby needs to run the ball and stretch the field passing, and do not play scared as the way they usually play. I think bates needs to up the passing game a bit and right out of the box, then have success running the ball. If they can do that they'll be tough to beat.

I see this as a tight hard fought game with the winner putting up at lease 24 points. Don't think you can win it scoring less. Just my two cents.

At this point in the season, a lot depends on the injury report and who is suited up.  With their thin rosters, the CBB teams are particularly vulnerable when a starter is down.  The Bates FY QB seems to be a better fit for the offense than the injured junior QB1 he replaced, but that seems to be the exception to the general rule.

It also depends on which OC shows up: the one who was leading Wes at the half, or the one who's run on first down and second down the rest of the season.

I think Colby has an edge this year, not only from being at home, but also the Mules must be feeling positive after leading Hamilton for most of the game.  But as they say, there's a reason they play the games.

Highlight film from Tufts Football of Saturday's win at Williams.

TheHerst2and4

NESCAC DPOW Andrew Yamin spent last Saturday hounding the Wesleyan QB and came away with 4.5 sacks for the game. 10.5 on the season, pretty impressive through 6 games. That puts him a sack away from breaking Kevin Ferber's school record with three games to go.
Got me curious how close he was to the NESCAC record, turns out not so close, Kevin Ryan's 15.5 back in 2006 is going to be a tough mark to beat and that was done in 8 games. He was a savage. As previous records fall with the extended season this year,  us has-beens will always have the age old "well [so and so] did it in less games" argument
For a fleeting moment I thought I was getting nostalgic thinking back to the playing days, but more accurately it was a traumatic flashback; he gave us a really hard time in our defensive battle back in 06. I'll need a therapist if I start thinking of our homecoming debacle. Good times.

Who did Kevin Ryan play for?

mariner75....thanks for the highlights!  Good preview of opponents ahead.....liked the ending announcing Game 7.  Big game for both Tufts and Amherst.  Must have been taken by a Tufts' film crew.
Some thoughts of topics posted here and refreshed at class dinner on Sat.
PC mentioned a binge viewing of the Vietnam War film on TV.  At dinner there were some related discussions of where were you then.  A classmate stated  he was a medical doctor stationed somewhere in a MASH type unit.  Yes, we lost classmates in that War far, far away.  No markings yet on the War Memorial at Memorial Hill on the FY quad.  The co-producer of the film series, Ken Burns attended Hampshire College in Amherst.  An Amherst Alum gave the money to establish Hampshire College.  At the time there were no co- ed private college in the area.  I have chosen NOT to watch the series.  I digress.
Vandy74...met the author of the comic strip "Fox Trot" that you like so much.  All grown up now with a son at Amherst.  Was at the game with his parents in our tent area by the fieldhouse.
One football playing classmate, a Harvard trained lawyer, has two football playing sons...at Amherst...who are doctors now.  One specializes in correcting operations on injuries that were not successful.  Hope I phrased that correctly.  Anyway, though football is a tough sport, players go on to successful careers.
