It looks like the second longest home winning streak belongs to Amherst with 21 consecutive home wins from 2011-2015. Trin and Midd always seem to play great games; Saturday should be no exception. Go Bants!

What is it with you guys and your inability to master the quote function? And yes, it is pretty amazing that after thirteen years without a home loss the Bants dropped consecutive games in The Coop.

Not surprised the Amherst parents can't figured it out... only kidding only kidding.

Will never forget getting waxed in the Coop 45-7 in 2012. Worst game I ever participated in. That team came ready to play from the first snap. We were both 5-0 and they dominated us.

However, I was on the team that ended "the streak" in 2014. We had revenge on our minds and boy was it sweet.

Heres to Trinity on an incredible accomplishment... and here's to Middlebury knocking them off in Vermont just like they did 27-24 in 2013.

I will be up at the game for our Homecoming. Can't wait. Cheer. Boy. Cheers.

Enjoy the game middpatherpride. Go Bants (and Go Bills)!

Colby has a very predictable offense and puts its better players on defense,   they have a lack of speed and an very average QB.   So,  you change coaches,  or allow 3-5 kids who have 0 business being there in.  Whenever any one of the Maine teams has been successful,  its always revolved around having some 'dudes' on the team that can be true difference makers.    If I were the coach up there,  I would ask admissions for a restructuring of tips.   goalie,  center in basketball,  or QB.   You need to allow some very low tips.   It happens at institutions that are supposedly more difficult to get into other,  Colby should do the same.

Nescafe........You don't understand how tips work.  No Nescac team has any "kids who have 0 business being there."  Tips are used by coaches on prospects who fall short of the normal academic requirements but show signs in other ways that once admitted they can do the work.  The tip is the only special treatment they receive.  Once in school they must live up to the same academic standards required of any other student.   Each coach knows that having had tip admitted athletes who do not live up to expectations will result in having more difficulty convincing admissions to accept tip requests in the future.  Tips are not a slick trick better used by some than others and coaches do not pull the strings.  Regardless of the admission requirement differences between them, every conference member school ranks well above the majority of DIII institutions nationwide.  Every one of their student athletes earn their diploma or they don't graduate.

I'm sure that you are aware, as master of the quote function, that ALL 53 SCORES need not be posted every time anyone references the original quote.   :)

Far more subtle than a 51-0 scoreboard pic, I'll give you credit for that.

Trin 8-0 makes my IT guy look like a cub scout. That half page list of scores is something.
Careful Grabowski, this may bring back his home movie clip.

Lumbercat - You always seem to be the "go to guy" when it comes to CBB info (not sure where you get it all from but I don't care as long as you share).

What's your take on this weekend's Bates Colby game?

Yet, sometimes coaches and colleges reach a little lower for a difference-maker. It happens. And almost always, that difference-maker earns his degree. This is a complex issue. Many, many high school (non-athlete) seniors are rejected from NESCAC and Ivy League colleges, when they clearly could thrive academically. The competition is fierce. Lacking the academic metrics necessary for admission doesn't mean that a student is incapable of success; it just means there's no room at the inn. NESCAC (and Ivy) schools like to publicize their student-athletes are scholars. Many are not. But they can cut it. It's up to the coaches to realize which ones can't.

I have no pearls of wisdom for the clash of the Garnet Bobcat and the Blue and Grey this weekend. The two teams are very evenly matched and while it sounds trite I think it all boils down to execution.
Two young QBs that could be prone to mistakes so I will say the team with fewer Ints and fumbles will win. 0-6 teams make a lot of mistakes, the team that limits those mistakes on Saturday will have the advantage. Sorry to be so non committal but its that kind of game.

And by the way, they can call it whatever they want but it will mean something to those kids on the field Saturday. Its been the worst year in a long time for the CBB- all the criticism seems justified but it will be a good game on Saturday- one of the last for you and your son. Enjoy it.

I agree with your take on the game. And 0-6 or not, it should be exciting. I can't wait. Enjoy the game as well.

Anybody want to put some lines out there for this weekend's games?

Vandy -   We are speaking semantics here.     I speak no business,  in the sense that,  in almost all other terms,  the school would not admit these athletes based on their academic record.     Teams,  and ones with very high academic standards for admission use this method.    I do understand the tip system.    The bottom line is that admissions wants to know if their low academic tip will show up to class and put the effort in if they have a lower innate aptitude.    That they will put up with.   There are plenty kids with higher aptitudes that drink beer and play video games after the season.     A lower admitted tip really has 0 business being there from a pure academic stand point.   The school makes a choice that it would for various reasons,  low tips makes the institution better.  student support, alumni giving,  getting your name out there,  and being good to great in every facet of the institution.  Colby is currently getting a F in football.   Would that fly in their academic arena, no.     Institutionally,  excelling or attempting to excel in all areas,  should be part of its mission,  otherwise drop the sport.

A shot at lines for the most interesting week of the season so far:

Wesleyan -30 at Bowdoin
Trinity -4 at Midd (assuming Lebowitz is 100 percent, if he is limited or out, that line changes)
Amherst at Tufts pick em
Hamilton +5 at Williams
Bates +6 at Colby

lumbercat

Hope I am wrong but Leibowitz could have an injury which could keep him out this week. He was not pulled on Saturday- he took a hard hit on the lower body. He came out of the game and had his pads of pretty quickly. A lot of medical attention on the sidelines.

He broke a nice run but pulled up short and decelerated into a collision with Bates safety- he took a good lick because he pulled up short.  If only he dropped his pad level and excellarated into contact he would be fine.  Maybe he intended to slide but decided too late. He's too big a guy to avoid contact with 2 games left in his career. I hope that hit didn't take him out of the Trinity game- hoping he's ok and will be in there for the Snow Panthers this weekend.

Speaking of injuries, the Williams paper reported that Connor Harris is out for the year with a broken collar bone.  Tough break for him, as he was on track for first-team all league contention before that, and a tough break for the team.  Next guy up!

2017 NESCAC Weekly Power Rankings-Week #6

1. Hartford State (6-0; Last Week-1): The 'Staters cruise to a big win over the PBers in the Coop. We are looking for this weeks scoreboard pic...we know it's out there.
This week: at Middlebury

2. Amhurst (5-1; LW-2): The Lord Mammoths D held Wes to 8 offensive first downs, 197 yards of total offense and one offensive TD. Still, the LM's almost lost due to a pick 6, 2 blocked FGs, 8 first downs due to penalty, and 13 penalties for 157 yards.
This week: at Tufts

3. Middlebury (5-1; LW-4: Need Lebowitz back in a big way as they host Hartford State this week. As expected, they trounced Bates.
This week: Hartford State in Middlebury

4. Wesleyan (4-2; LW-2): Besieged by injuries and illness (DPOTY candidate DT Grant Williams and star WR Merles didn't play and the country's best WR, Breuler didn't practice all week), the Cards almost pulled out a W...uncharacteristic 4th quarter collapse for the Cards. Gets easier this week in Brunswick.

This week: at Bowdoin

5. Tufts (4-2; LW-5): McDonald proves to be the difference as the Jumbo's beat the Ephs. Host the Lord Mammoths this week in what should be an interesting match-up.
This week: Amhurst in Medford

6. Williams (4-2; LW-6): Probably last winnable game of the year for the Ephs as they travel to Tufts. Win here clinches the first winning season for Williams since going 5-3 in 2012. Tough loss last week as they hung tough against Tufts.
This week: Hamilton in Williamstown

7. Hamilton (2-4; LW 7):  Another win for the Conts as they outlast the Mules. Punchers chance against the Ephs.
This week: at Williams

8. Conn College (0-0; LW-8): Bryn Mawr doesn't show for the week 6 battle.
This week: at Smith

9. University of Bates (Lewiston Campus) (0-6; LW-9):  Another thrashing last week at they lost to Middlebury. Winnable game this week as they face one of the other "midgets" that make up the C-B-B, Colby. good news is the C-B-B goes 1-20 with their first win of 2017.
This week: at Colby

10. Colby (0-6; LW-10): See above. Finally scored more than on TD in a game. End results are the same.
This week: University of Bates in Waterville

11. Bowdoin (0-6; LW-11): As predicted, very ugly against HS. Where's that Facebook for the scoreboard pic?!? Another ugly one this week.
This week: Wesleyan in Brunswick

NESCACMAN picks tomorrow...
