Truly an epic win! An instant classic ....! Way to go "Grit Guys" !!!!

Congrats to Ephs on well-deserved win.   They came out ready to play, Amherst mounted terrific comeback to send it to OT, and then the Duxbury kid won it with his fourth rushing TD.   Sort of surprised that Amherst threw the ball on fourth and one.  Regardless, better team won.

Looking for a great year from Amherst next year.   Virtually all of their top players come back so we will hope for a great 2018.

Williams QB Bobby Maimaron threw 41 passes and carried 33 times. Not very often you see that type of usage. Williams' coaching staff played a tight end at tailback for much of the game to help block for Maimaron. Williams also made big plays on a double-reverse, flea-flicker pass and a fake punt. Held nothing back.

Williams defense held Amherst to 78 yards on the ground. Ephs have been tough against the run all year. Mammoths replaced Eberth with Foy just before halftime and Foy played like a gutty senior the rest of the way, almost made several big plays on deep balls. I was also surprised at the 4th-and-one pass to the back line in OT. No easy calls in that situation, and Williams had stuffed the run all day. Still, a gamble.

I was wondering why Dozier had almost no carries.  You can't use your QB like that typically, given the injury risk, but in the last game, makes sense — gets the ball in your hands of your best runner, gives him extra push, and also provides extra protection vs a stellar pass rush.  And notably Amherst got only one sack all day! Unorthodox and smart move from a coaching staff that has been truly stellar all year long.  The fake punt deep in your own territory with a lead is the sort of play that gets you crucified if it fails.   Not many coaches have the brass to make that call.  And what more can be said about the Eph D and Maimaron that hasn't been said?  Other than a very rough game last week, both have been off the chain all year.

To go from 0-8 to 6-3 is just unthinkable.  What a year for the Ephs.  And so fun to watch the well-earned walk up Spring Street live on Facebook.  The seniors who stuck with it after three tough years were richly rewarded, and their elation was palpable!

Congrats to TRINITY on their championship!  If anyone knows where Nescacman lives...perhaps you should check in on him!  LOL

Another great season in the books!  Until next year people!  ciao!

Seems like considering Maimaron for POY isn't unrealistic.
No.  Let me re-word that with a declarative sentence.
I think Maimaron is the player of the year in the NESCAC.  Never seen a kid dominate games like he has.  Magical season, absolutely.

add my congrats to Williams.  Thought Amherst would pull it out in OT.  Add my puzzlement on the pass in OT.  Same lineup by Amherst after Williams call a TO.  My question is where was Hickey?  Mills may have overthinking the situation, imo.  Ephs' HC had a great game plan.

Happy Veterans Day. Thank you to all that have served. "All gave some... some gave all"

Cannot help but to think of Middlebury Grad John P. Stabile. A former Midd football standout who then joined the Marines in WWII. He paid the ultimate sacrifice while saving his fellow injured Marine. A statue was dedicated to him in his hometown of Medford, MA. He was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart.

Yes, Stabile Square is in Medford or Meffid as it is sometimes known.  Also there is a Stabile award given annually as one of the football awards at Midd.

Hickey was hurt.  Game time decision.

I haven't watched any Williams games this year so I don't know how good Maimaron is really. His stats for the season are not as impressive as I thought they would be when I looked (200 YPG passing, 12 TDs, 8 INTs, 402 yards on the ground.) However, from reading this board he appears to be almost as important as anyone in the league to their team. I think that Ryan McDonald for Tufts is another really strong candidate who does have a stats edge. 208 YPG passing, 11 TDs, 10 INTs, 722 yards rushing

Couple of questions:
1. Has a freshman ever won NESCAC POY for football?
2. Does anyone know of a NESCAC football player transferring up for football? It has happened in basketball I know. Justin Ciero left Colby after the 2013 season to go to Union I think it was. However, I don't think he was on their roster ever and think I remember someone saying he left with no intentions of playing football there.

I don't ask the second question to say that Maimaron should or could leave, just purely curiousity.

The kid is D3-good but he's not transferring up anywhere.  Not big enough. Arm is good but not as strong, for instance, as Foys arm. Ivies had their look but he is perfect D3.  Quick quick quick.

I was painfully present in the stands during the Williams-Middlebury game and watching MacDonald play this afternoon brought back memories of Maimaron's performance vs the Panthers.  Since the award goes to the "Most Valuable" player I think Maimaron should get the nod should it come down to a choice between them.  Tufts' 5-4 season was disappointing and below the preseason expectations of their fans.  Maimaron took a team that was 0-8 last season and led the Ephs to a season record that wasn't anticipated by even the most ardent Williams fans until at least 2019, and considering how the top conference competition stacked up, probably acceptable in 2020.  Just my two-cents.

Maimaron I think could succeed 1-AA but I'll grant that he doesn't have a cannon.  Arm talent is solid but far from his best attribute.   What makes him so great is his poise, toughness, and unbelievable elusiveness.  He also has quite nice touch.  He meant so much more to the Ephs than the stats reflect.  He was under a lot of pressure most games this year.  The Ephs had loads of injuries at skill positions with guys shuffling in and out.  They ran a complicated, very fast offense that asked a TON of the QB.  And he controlled the game (with a few "learning" weeks, but only really two out of nine) with tremendous poise, precision and aplomb.  The Ephs' D was strong across the board this year.  But the O at times has to really scrap for points and Maimaron was at the center of nearly every point scored.  He's just a winner and it's obvious to see the team is so much more confident just by having him out there.  He's a true leader, sort of a Russell Wilson type — has the "it" factor.

That being said he's not OPOY.  He should however be unanimous ROY.  And I know Devaney is deserving but when you compare talent on hand, Raymond has to be COY.

Former Trinity K Ben Rosenberg transferred to Brown.

Hasn't worked out very well, for the kid or for Brown.  (But I think you could call it a win for Trinity).

Last point on Maimaron — watch the video of The Walk.  The team is led by all seniors, except for one guy. That to me speaks volumes.  There is no question who the on-field leader of the squad is.
