Coaching is a thankless racket. I for one recommend that my grandkids take up pinochle. And they as usual will politely listen to me and then do as they damn well please.

While it's said coaches only get hired to eventually get fired, it seems even the worst coaches find jobs. I jokingly tell my kids if they want job security go into coaching. You may get fired, but you'll always get rehired.

Seemed excessive to let him go after 5-5, 5-5, 3-7.

Those kinds of records are good enough for a 20 year run at any NESCAC school (other than maybe Hartford State)...

Word out of Colby is Michaeles is out as HCOF...more news to follow later this evening.
Any update? I heard he's out as well. But no official word yet. I heard Michaeles threatened to sue last time he was up for a new contract. Something to do with his pregnant wife being the hockey coach. Not sure if that's true. She's currently pregnant again, so I wonder, if true, if he's pulling the same trick this time. He gives the nice guy appearance, but IMHO he only cares about himself. I hope for the sake of the players and program he's gone.

FWIW, Michaeles' wife has not coached the Colby women's hockey team for the past 2 seaons . .

Correct, she has been in some administrative capacity for quite a while. But, she was the hockey coach back then when the issue came up, and he was given a new contract.

Michaeles and entire staff let go at Colby including the 2 high profile assistants he brought in this year.
Indications are that Coach Dexter may remain at Colby in another capacity.

Rumored replacements-
A Dartmouth assistant- not sure specifically between 2 possibilities.
Ex HC Coach Gilmour
Harvard DC Scott Larkee

Was an announcement made? I feel terrible about Dexter. I believe he's a quality defensive coach and really decent man. And who will be handling recruiting until a new HC is hired? Something doesn't sound right. But you usually have accurate information.

No announcement that I know of but I trust the source- nothing is official until the College confirms it.

Interesting all-league team.  Congrats to all the players honored!

A few observations:

The coaches managed to squeeze four QBs in (vs. only three RBs).  Given the distribution of QB-to-RB talent in the league this year, seems like a fair way to apportion things.

Of the four players Williams has on all-NESCAC squads, three (TE Burke, QB Maimaron, and LB Rothmann) are frosh.  I assume that is without precedent in NESCAC lore.  They had two more frosh who I imagine were near misses, as well, in LB Wesner and WR Stola.

Amherst suffers some significant losses on offense, especially graduating three really strong offensive linemen, but the Lord Jeff defense should be absolutely LOADED next year.  The entire starting D (I believe) including five all-NESCAC guys and the returning POY return.  Amherst is gonna be super-motivated after falling basically one yard short vs. Williams, and that defense should be a nightmare for everyone in NESCAC next season.

Tufts' offense should be a stronger, very veteran unit next year, but the Jumbos will need to replace three all-NESCAC D-linemen -- tough losses to sustain from one unit.  Midd loses three all-league defenders to graduation from a unit that was up and down all year.  But Midd's offensive will pour on the points next season, as always.

Trinity as always has a big array of losses, most of whom probably will be replaced by similarly-talented guys waiting to slide right in; odds are they won't miss a beat.  The big question mark of course is who steps in for Sunny Puzzo?  I imagine there are plenty of talented guys competing for the slot but he's not an easy guy to replace.  Fortunately whoever earns the job will have a tremendous skill group around  him to work with.

Only one all-NESCAC guy from the three Maine team combined ... wow.

lumbercat

Yes only one Maine guy selected and while I can make a case for couple of Bates guys on the second teams I can't fault any of the selections. This will go on record, hopefully, as the worst collective year for the CBB teams in the NESCAC in modern history.
Better days ahead for the CBB starting with the changes at Colby and some coming changes at Bates.

Once again we nailed all of the NESCSC award winners plus were the first on the Michaelas firing by about 10 Days...but we digress. We also pretty much told you that McDonald would be dissed...Jumbo faithful can't be happy with that one...
