Footballluv---hearing the same thing from sources around "the Hill."  Colby picked exactly the right coach at the right time and was extremely fortunate that he happened to be available. His passion and energy is contagious and will yield benefits. Head coaching experience and success at the D1 level AND in the state of Maine itself is a remarkable resume for the Mules to have at the helm. Great coup for the NESCAC as a whole too.

Since this is the slow period for news, thought I'd ask if anyone is aware of any uniform changes around the league this season? Or any other changes such as to facilities?

How might our kids put it? Mr. Fedora's recent comments indicate that he is due for a check-up from the neck up!

Frank---no need to be so dour all the time. Lighten up, and have some fun. It is the off season and looking for some different topics that might interest some. Anyone who watches sporting events knows uniforms and venues are part of the "pagentry".  Some are more appealing than others and subjective debates about same have been going on since sports began.

As the great philosopher Dieon Sanders once opined, "If you look good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good."

Bates should be revealing some long overdue new threads this season. The design is similar to the Northwestern uniforms, but obviously with a Garnet/Black/White color scheme.

Northwestern? Oh geez, tell me they are not doing that stupid stripe across the front like a hockey jersey? Say it ain't so Eagle.

The "monsoons" have been pausing in the D.C. area for now as I start packing for the family gathering at the Beach on the Delaware shores.  With rip tides galore and wet weather forecasted there...and even chances of beach umbrellas injuring people...WSJ noted such events on the Md., Jersey shores...I have brought books and puzzles to share with all. The new Amherst Science building is finishing up, so less viewing for me to watch. I will speculate on other topics a bit.
Amherst's football camps have finished and August is approaching fast...only a few weeks to go before football practice starts.
Uniforms is a good topic.  Wonder if Amherst will reveal new "Under Armor" uniforms this season with
Retro stripes on the sleeves..like those during the Darp era.
Frank U.....after the Ephs win over the LJs last season and the team got to take its "Walk", maybe the Ephs will get new uniforms....like the Northwestern Un.?   The Prez of Northwestern was the president of Williams.....two prezs ago.  Do need to get up to Willytown again.  Many changes in town.  This year the Amherst vs Williams battle will be in Amherst.  See you there Frank...did see your great former coach in the stands 2 years ago...on the Sunny Amherst side :D

Look forward to seeing the new Bobcat look. Did not know Amherst switched to Under Armor. I know many of the players were unhappy with the former supplier.

Been a long time since the last time, but expect some changes to the Mules look as well.

Early last year, I spoke to an assist football coach at breakfast on the UA brand.  Response was that the Nike uniforms had some "life" left.  Any new UA uniforms was an expensive item....considering number of players and several sets, etc., etc.  Asked if I was interested in funding the new brand uniforms....with a broad smile on his face.  I figure that the cost...my quick estimate was about 200 grand with new helmets....a little rich for me in retirement at this time ;D

amh63:  Just your mere mention of striped sleeves gave me a flashback of guys named Swift, Fugett, and Scott along with a guy in a 3 piece suit and a fedora pacing the opposite sideline.  Frightening.

Grid-
Colby made a nice change last year with new jerseys. in the past they had a great but simple look with the home and away jerseys pretty plain with the big tackle twill numbers. In the midst of his swan song Michaeles added a nice sleeve stripe on the home and away jerseys- a great look which I assume they will keep unless Cosgrove has other intentions.

At the end of the day the Colby uniforms and overall look are the best in the NESCAC and in my opinion that has been the case since the 70's.
Colby continues to be the best looking uniform in the NESCAC without question in my opinion.

Have always been envious of how good the Colby uniforms have looked over the years, especially the horseshoe (mule shoe?) helmet.

lumbercat

Yes, for years Colby had the Baltimore Colt horseshoe logo but changed to the current Chicago Bears style C. Maybe Cosgrove will bring back the horseshoe which I agree was a great look.

Was recently with a former Wesleyan player from back in the early 80s. He, too, said the players around the league back then all felt the Colby uniforms looked the best.

Expect changes to the helmet logo this year...
