Nescacman,
I didn't start this. You did. I was trying to introduce some context into the 6 fumbles in the box score. I felt it was an interesting angle that sheds light on the fact that only one fumble was forced by Bates.
I am an Amherst parent of a FY and I am not from the northeast. We are from Michigan and this is all new to me as I have stated previously. Sorry to offend, but you made it seem like friendly jabbing and ad hominem lite was appropriate.

Youre right on and your posts are accurate and spot on.....but drop the "I'm from Michigan thing and I'm not sure how things are in the Northeast" you're a quick study and you are totally up to speed right now. Keep bringing it.

And just to clarify that not one of those 6 fumbles was lost lost in the sun.

Which was sorta our point, but we'll move on...

Thanks Nescacman! Good detective work! He is enjoying the team first atmosphere and the community on the team. He was recruited by some other CAC teams but was impressed with the character of the players he met while visiting, especially Reece Foy.
Nothing against the other programs, he even considered very strongly at least one "lesser than" program because of the coaching staff commitment to changing the culture and the recruiting process.
BTW, he was moved from TB to WR where he is backing up Berluti in the slot position. Amherst has considerable size and some depth at TB now after the preseason changes I mentioned earlier.

Re Amherst vs Bates - and yes I am obviously an Amherst alumn - the turnovers are what killed the Jeffs last weekend.   We all know that Mills puts his stud athletes on the defensive side of the ball, but it is still unusual for an Amherst team to have three turnovers.   The Jeff offense was mediocre, at best, with the receivers in particular dropping 3-4 balls that I would guess they normally catch.  Kudos to Bates for some good defense in the game.  Jeffs had almost 2.5x total yardage than Bates but obviously were not able to turn those yards into normal point total.   Do I think that they were "lucky" to win that game?   That would be a huge exaggeration.  They were never threatened in the least.  So ... defense looked very good, Yamin is a beast and as good a defender as I have seen in the NESCAC in a long time, and the offense needs to play better.

As an aside, assuming that we want more folks to enjoy this site, is it possible to cut down on the snarkiness?   For a D3, non-playoff eligible small school league, I am not sure that I get all of the pettiness.   I also do not understand why someone would be identified by their child's number.   That seems highly inappropriate to me, but I am old school and continue to call Amherst the Lord Jeffs.

I agree with your take on the game.
Flukey fumbles and uncharacteristic drops made the game look close on paper and pumped up Bates' D, but for anyone to claim the game was close or in doubt must not have watched it with a discerning eye.
I would be concerned only if those two trends continue.

JEFFFAN.....well played/posted!  Is that a tennis term?  Never watch pro tennis though did play tennis.
Old school huh....me, just old.  Talking about my days studying hard :). Interesting article in the WSJ wrt a 1969 VW beetle owner who picked up the car in Germany and traveled in Europe while the Woodstock event happened and an American walked on the moon. A brother in law was enjoying Woodstock then.  Me, was studying hard at MIT but met and worked with many great people...strobe light designer, Noble prize winners, etc.  Walked by the Polaroid plant every day to school...never met the developer though.  50 years ago!   The VW Beetle will not be built after 2019!
JEFFFAN...plus k.  My posting memories here is to try to pause the negative posting here...in hopes of making this board a place where posters will have good memories of.  Is that good English? 8-)

Very good post, JEFFFAN; Not only the game but your last paragraph as well.

NESCAC stats were correct on Sunday when they posted the players of the week and game summaries, however, something went wrong on Monday. The Trinity rushing and total offense stats were corrected late yesterday with other teams corrected today.

I don't think this has been mentioned but it's worth noting as I know many of us stream the games. If you have Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, or Roku devices you can now easily watch the games on your television via the "NESCAC Network" which streams all games covered by NSN Sports.

Just search 'NESCAC Network' on your device to find the channel. It works really well and is more enjoyable than watching on a computer, phone, or tablet.

Regarding the discussion on turnovers, they certainly made the Amherst-Bates game appear closer than it was. I was only able to watch the first half of the Wesleyan game but I'm curious if the three second half turnovers by Midd made the score appear worse than reality.

Yamin has to be up there in contention for best Nescac defender of this century so far, right?  Walter Fallas probably has the honor right now.   Scott Farley, Kevin Ferber, and Steven Cella also come to mind ....

So I can use Roku to watch these games, rather than my computer? Does that mean I can DVR them, as well? That would be ideal.

Nescac1-
Couldn't agree more. Yamin is a great player.
We saw 2 of the NESCAC's very best last Saturday at Garcelon Field in Yamin and Hickey.
