Nescacman-

With Trinity 8-1 evidently frequenting Cardinal territory on a regular basis I'm sure you'll give a heads up to the Whale and Dicenzo..... Keep offices locked, game plans under lock and key, white boards erased etc.
And watch for strange faces at practice.....especially Trinity week.
I would bet the Whale would relish the surveillance duty. Lol
And check Trin 8-1 cell phone to see if any communication to Ma area code 413 last week.

Early optimism leads to late disappointments.

Am I seeing correctly that Bowdoin appears to have relocated their home side back to the old setup? You must have got to someone on this.
I can take no credit, LC. A group of us strongly suggested it last season but they came to the right conclusion on their own.

Jefffan, the top-tier teams often get 10 or more guys on the all-NESCAC teams.  For example, last year Amherst got 10 despite not winning the league.  Rothmann, Maimaron, and Burke are all returning all-NESCAC guys who are much better this year.  The other guys I mentioned - Barber, Stola, Anthony and Dozier - are all very strong contenders already.  If Williams finishes with, say, 2-3 losses or less this year, the team will have a slew of guys on the all-league team; when you have nearly 60 players represented from only 10 teams, the AVERAGE team gets around 6.

Okay.  I was thinking that you meant first-team only.

Some "loose end comments".  I thought there were some interesting calls by coaches that led up to big plays.....maybe unexpected calls.  First one was when Bowdoin had two QBs in the backfield.  One QB flipped the ball to the other in the backfield and a long pass downfield was completled.  Amherst defensive backs may have come up and let a WR get behind them.   The 2nd one was in the Williams game when Williams had a new back in the backfield that also made an unexpected long completed pass downfield.
An Amherst parent broke down the Bowdoin " running " game in a post after reviewing an earlier Bowdoin game.  A fine Bowdoin RB had set a school record in that game.  The parent noticed that the top back with speed needed about 5-7 untouched yds to "accelerate" downfield. Well in the Amherst game, that top Bowdoin back gained only 30 yards with the longest being 7 yards.  Heck, there was NO PB running game....believe it was 6 yds net.

Question to the Amherst parent ...of a current Amherst football player.... have you coaching experence?  You sure can breakdown film, IMO.

Amh63,
Thanks for the compliment, but my coaching experience only ranges from 8 year olds thru eighth grade. Not much film study at those levels.
But growing up in a family with a long line of college and beyond ball players has rubbed off a little. I learned how to handicap races by looking at the little things. I get lucky sometimes.
The best coaches see things that can't be gleaned from a box score or even trending stats.

Here's a prediction (and i am sure this will reappear around November 11th)....7-2 wins the NESCAC this year...

LC, I can confirm that the PB faithful reclaimed the historic grandstand this week....  I hear prompted by the substantial alumni donors that made the new field possible.

They finally came to their senses at Bowdoin.  Could not figure the whole move to the other side of one of most iconic venues in D3 from day one. Wonder who made that call from the beginning.
Now they have more seating capacity on the visiting side than the home side after they removed the stands adjacent to the old grandstand.

Phew -- so glad to hear that!! That was a wacky move . . .

Tuesday for me is a "dead period" wrt 'CAC' football.  The Amherst science center and the associated landscaping is finished.  Big grand opening event on Oct. 10.  Invitations sent to alum, etc.  For me, no more watching the construction process :'(
Some random thoughts.  Bowdoin's new football facility.  In the coming months there will be rain and snow on the "sunny" side of the field.  Smart move for the PB fans to switch to the " covered " side :). When the additional building is finished, will the PB dressing rooms be moved?
Spent a little time on the Tufts website.  Not much discussion here on the other 3-0 football team, imho.  Come to think of it...are there any Jumbo fans posting on this board?
NescacMEN needs to provide more stuff :).

Your wish is our command....we will have some material on the OE's (aka Jumbo's) later tonight...

Rumor out there that Amherst just landed a highly rated high school quarterback ... any news on that, AMH63?

amh63

JEFFFAN...your rumor mill is better than mine.  I take "great" QB recruits with a shrug and a bit of caution.  There are other young QBs presently on the roster.  The Nescac appears to be successful with starters than are both talented runners AND passers....that can take a hit or two, IMO.  Exception is QB Un....otherwise known as Midd that often get QBs transferring in from D1.  I would like to hear about great WRs recruits.  Note that one of the key new receivers in the Bowdoin game was a Soph that is listed as a TE on the roster...and mentioned as such by the announcer.  Anyway, thanks for the info.
