Not sure if any of you watched the MNF game last night featuring the Falcons v. the G-Men...HCOF Shurmur did his best HCOF Malik imitation going for 2 in the 4th quarter...inexcusable in the NESCAC....horrendous in the NFL...

One also had to love the two quarterback sneaks with a 37 year old quarterback and no timeouts left!

Wes is small and slow- Picorrillo has not been all in recently, he will hopefully turn it on but watch out for Bowdoin if Richam goes.

How many points you want to give us? We are 2-0 against fellow boardsters so far this year so beware...we'll take NESCAC action from anyone at anytime...

Maineman, one of the Bates parents spoke to the refs and the ref said it was an inadvertent whistle. We are still confused.
Midhoops and Vandy, as a father of a Bates player, this was the main topic of out post game tailgate. Hall told the players he would rather go for a win than a tie. Apparently, he didn't figure out even if he missed the 2 pointer, he would still need a FG to at least win/tie.
Here is his tweet after the game: Never chase points, it's a sign of desperation! Believe in your ability to play a full game.

Rookie HCOF mistake...

What HCOF Hall should have tweeted is "I screwed up...that's on me and won't happen again...my job as HCOF is to put our players in a position to be able to win".

.... and HCOF Hall continues to insist that he made the right decision. Not only a rookie mistake but an extreme case of arrogance.  Something about not wanting to lose the momentum. He has to be the only person at Middlebury or watching on the web that came to that conclusion. It has to be tough when your players are left scratching their heads. We can't make this stuff up. He might want to grab a beer with the Titan's coach who did him one better and not only embarrassed himself in one country with a stupid PAT decision but managed to do it in two countries!

Good one Nescacman-
How many points are you looking for, LOL.
Saying Bowdoin could make it interesting.

Is the where the punch line of the two-man joke comes to a head and you both take off your belts?

It would be sort of fun to pick lines for these games and then have folks pick the slate on the over/under basis.

Williams finally reflected its lineup to show the guys who have actually been playing:

https://ephsports.williams.edu/sports/fball/This_Hamilton_2018.pdf

Four defensive starters are out with injuries.  Three frosh have been starting on defense, replacing one of the top three defenders in the league in Rothmann and two senior, three-year starters who had been playing tremendous football in Amyrh Barber and Austin Thomas.  Two frosh have been starting on offense, one of whom replaced Dozier, who had been arguably the best TB in the league before going down with injury.  And a first-year has been starting at K/P from the get-go.  Those six frosh are all talented players with bright futures.  And they will definitely benefit from the experience they are getting early in their careers.  But it's  a lot to ask them to step in half-way through their first season as (in most cases) unexepcted starters replacing in many cases veteran stars.  Injuries are a big part of football, although Williams has certainly been harder hit than anyone else in the league this year with bad luck  Of course, Williams was able to win last season with even more frosh playing key roles, so in the end, the guys on the field can't worry about their level of experience or their pre-season expectations; they just need to play.  And hopefully, a few of the injured guys will manage to make it back for Little 3 play.

Right now, only three seniors are starting (or really playing  major roles at all) for the Ephs, one of whom is himself an injury replacement for a young offensive lineman.  This team continues to be built for the future, and should be pretty loaded next season, but a few more wins this season would certainly be nice!

It's Thursday...approaching the weekend quickly; over the "hump" as they say.  Some random comments.
JEFFFAN, your suggestion of over/under  posts was done on another board awhile back.  It takes a lot of work by a clever person to keep it going, IMO.
Just listen to a NOONTIME football podcast between Mr. Noon and Amherst HFC Mills.  Wednesday podcast.  Covered all sorts of "stuff" wrt Nescac football...coaching, players, coaches, etc. An example...dual threat QBs' in the conference being an offensive offshoot of the triple option from the 50's.
Mr Noon plans to be in attendance at the Amherst vs Williams game in three weeks.  Hope it will be dry and warmer than here in Md.  Close to the freeze line this morning.
Hope the weather will be dry and warmer for the games this weekend >:(.

We don't know how clever we are (certainly not as clever as HS8-0 fer sure) but we will take a shot at spreads for the first time this week....why not, what else better do we have to do with our time?

WRT to weather for this weekend....please do your best Lord Jeffrey Blanket Dance....forecast not looking favorable for most NESCAC venues...

...finally made the switch at QB going with the more athletic and accurate FY QB Seamus Lambert

Interesting assumption Nescacman. I'm not convinced that the change in Bantam signal callers is due to a lack of confidence in Vazzano by the Trinity coaching staff. After all Jordan still leads the league in both yards (1,326) and touchdown passes (12) despite playing one fewer game. Granted he has been far less accurate than the other QBs in the league, but I wouldn't make any Wally Pip comparisons to Vazzano just yet. While Lambert had an absurd stat line against an over-matched Bowdoin squad (22-29 for 280 yards passing and three touchdowns with 75 yards rushing on 15 carries) I think Vazzano may still be the man under center going forward.

I'm sorry to have missed you at Wes Homecoming and that your upset pick of the Cardinals over Amherst was woefully misplaced. The mismatch cast a gloom on an otherwise lovely fall day in Middletown. At least the Panthers saved you from a 1-4 weekend and thankfully, old reliable Trinity was a safe bet. ;)

There are rumors that due to weather concerns this Saturday's game against the Polar Bears will be moved from the grass of historic Andrus Field to the artificial surface of Citrin Field (the Cardinals' practice field). I assume that would impact the coaches as there is no press box, to say nothing of the broadcast capabilities for those hoping to live-stream the game. I imagine a formal announcement would be made soon if this is in fact the plan for Saturday.

I'm very curious to see what you come up with for point spreads this week and if you'll continue the practice. Given your history of picking Wesleyan over Trinity I'm eager to place my bet for November 10th.

Lambert's performance last weekend was no fluke. He was composed and took advantage of the opportunity. I will concede that he does not have the arm strength of Vazzano, as was apparent on several long balls. However, he did a much better job in RPO reads and check downs than Vazzano has done this season. No comparison actually.

Vazzano is injured and is questionable for this Saturday. I suspect if Lambert starts and has another solid game the coaching staff will be faced with a tough decision as to who gets the nod versus Amherst.
