Back on the topic of the Bowdoin vacancy, I have to disagree that Art Asselta at Yale is a good recruiter.   He can barely sell a program and that would be more obvious if he were not at a school like Yale.   Another Ivy candidate, Scott Larkee from Harvard is a much better recruiter.  That said, I would be surprised if Larkee left his alma mater as he is the defensive coordinator there and may be vying for the HC job when Murphy retires.

A bit of a long shot, but curious if Tom Blumenauer at Williams is a candidate.   He has been part of the Williams resurgence and was briefly an assistant at Bowdoin.  And he is an excellent recruiter.

Lastly,  I am confident that Malik Hall will put some wins on the board at Bates in the season to come.  Good example of how an Ivy assistant can have a rough start as a NESCAC HC, but you have to think that he will put up some wins with his own recruits.

I think Larkee and Lamb are both possibly waiting.  Harvard WR/Passing game coach Mickey Fein is a former UMaine QB who is from Cape Cod.  Was the OC at Layfayette for a long time before coming to Harvard.  Not sure if he is interested either....

I think Bowdoin would be best served going outside the NESCAC for coaching candidates. Bigger school guys if they can be lured down to D3.

Yes forgot about Murphy.
My HS senior year 2 of the notable QBs in Emass were Jack Cosgrove at Sharon HS and Buddy Teevans at Silver Lake.
Both went on to become fine college QBs at Maine and Dartmouth respectively.  Both then became very successful college coaches. Very similar backgrounds, very similar coaching successes and great careers.

Didn't Teevens flop both at Tulane and at Stanford?

He lost at Tulane but they went 11-0 the season after he left.

Yes Frank, Teevans had a tough go of it in Palo Alto but coached there as well.
Came home to Dartmouth where he has again done a great job.
In the broad scheme of things a HFC coaching job in a winning IVY program is a great situation.

The web says that Teevens has a head coaching record at Dartmouth of 35=63-2.

See where the winning seasons are in terms of his career compared to other Dartmouth coaches.

Looks like the numbers given on this board were incorrect. Teevens at Dartmouth= 87-91-2 (63-62-1 vs IVY teams)

28 Seasons)   121-168-2   74-92-1
at Dartmouth (18)   87-91-2   63-62-1
at Tulane (5)   11-45-0   1-4-0
at Stanford (3)   10-23-0   5-19-0
at Maine (2)   13-9-0   5-7-0

Yes, I remember both Cosgrove and Teevens well as players in the 70s, very good players. Good recall knowing where they both went to high school too!

couldn't forget those guys- Played hockey with and against Teevens - (he also played hockey at Dartmouth) and played FB against Cosgrove. They were pretty heavily recruited. Teevans went to Deerfield for a PG year. Buddy beat out the QB on my high school team for the starting job at Deerfield and then went to Dartmouth. TMI but just my memory.

A D3 school of 2700 students.  Went 6-4 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference this season.
Best of luck to Coach Wells; Any college would be lucky to have him.
