Perhaps my memory is failing, but I don't recall Williams ever announcing its class via social media, Twitter or otherwise.

Nope, you're correct. I just checked their account and I must have misremembered. I suppose that means they're the only NESCAC school to not have joined that trend. I wonder if that's a decision made by the program, the AD, or if it violates some type of internal admissions policy?

JB Wells has been active on Twitter these past few days, engaging with posts re: the incoming Bates class. I wonder if he has landed on his feet in Lewiston?

Re: Williams' decision not to announce recruits, there is at least one (possibly more, but if so, very few) sports at Williams who have announced recruits via social media, so it must be a decision made by the program.

In going through the Williams twitter account I came across this photo of legendary Ephs coach, Dick Farley:

That's quite an impressive winning percentage (.857) over 16 seasons. Jeff Devaney is going into his 14th season as the head coach at Trinity, and boasts a shockingly similar (and remarkable) winning percentage of .858.
I'd have to imagine these are the top two all-time winning percentages for NESCAC coaches, no?

Other contenders:
Chuck Priore (Trinity) .812
E.J. Mills (Amherst) .757
Mike Whalen (Williams & Wesleyan) .727
Frank Navarro (Williams) .717
Don Miller (Trinity) .693
Dan Jessee (Trinity) .663
Jim Ostendarp (Amherst) .646
I'm sure I'm missing others...

What's the record for most wins by a NESCAC coach? It has to be Miller with 174 wins, right? Ostendarp with 168 and Jessee with 150 are the next highest among those listed above. Mickey Heinecken had 126 wins at Middlebury.

Devanney has averaged 7 wins per season as head coach at Trinity (91 total victories). At that pace he would need to coach another 12 years to reach Miller. Considering he's only 46 or 47, and it's unlikely he would leave his alma mater for another coaching job, so it's certainly possible that he could end up with the most ever NESCAC coaching wins.

Maybe its how Williams' coaches(HC) approaches things. When we visited they were big on team and they didn't have names over the individual lockers. Or their not big on social media

I think Raymond  may be secretive about divulging who his players are for scouting purposes.  Last year the rosters came out only a few days before the beginning of the season.    On the weekly Williams Football TV show, Raymond rarely provides details on their game plans or schemes.

nescac1

Interesting theory on Raymond. I have noticed that the listed starting lineups each week are rarely accurate, often listing guys who are injured for example.   But I can't imagine that would have an impact on the decision to announce recruits.  The league coaches all basically know who is going where by this point and certainly by the fall.

Trinity looks beyond loaded next year including yet another stacked recruiting class.  I think they are primed to go 9-0.

I draw the same conclusion 5-7 but not sure if they have that expense in the budget. Time will tell.

If so,  that HAS to be a stop gap for a year... NO WAY JB stays in the NESCAC as an assistant.

It has happened before and in recent memory to terminated NESCAC head coaches (Colby HC Michaeles to Bowdoin as an assist; Bowdoin HC Caputi to Middlebury as OC).

Frank Hauser is the OC at Tufts and was the head coach at Wesleyan from '92-'09. I don't recall if he moved directly into that role after being fired by Wes. Has anyone besides Mike Whalen served as head coach at two different NESCAC programs?

Trinity has played some very tight games at Tufts in recent memory. Opening the season there could be a challenge, but if they survive they should coast to 6-0. Finishing with Williams, Amherst, and Wesleyan won't be easy, especially facing the Mammoths on the road. If they pull it off it will be the first 9-0 finish in NESCAC history and, would be just the second time a program has won 4 consecutive NESCAC titles (Trinity 2002-'05).

Trin8-0....29 "recruits"!  Gurney, WR from W. Whitman, Md intrigues me.  Walt Whitman in Bethesda Md.  was recently rated the top academic school in a county chock full of top/special academic schools.  However, it has never been considered a top sports school in my memory...especially a football school
Always a first, however.....nice size....hopefully good hands and speed.

GameBall14

The Bants had 36 recruits last year plus 2 transfers  :o
