Recent discussion regarding Hamilton and winning seasons appear to be timely, eh?  31 in the first half against Tufts.
Midd better be ready next Saturday.  The Conts are on a roll.

If I'm Middlebury I'm not loving next week's matchup. They face a team that's making less mistakes. Is getting better on D. Who pounds the ball on the ground and can pass when necessary. And the team has to be flying high with confidence. Lastly, Murray can coach. Can't wait.

Canvas Hightops

Colby Football makes a scary good point.
Hamilton is realizing how good they can be.
Murray has been "hyped" on this board for a few years but now he is rising to the level of expectations.
This Hamilton team is improving steadily.
Midd has to bring their highest level of precision from the Wes game to next Saturday.  Jernigan the passer has to outperform Jernigan the rusher.

BTW, kudos to Wesleyan for outlasting Amherst in a heavy weight slugfest.  What a great game to watch.

Hey Vandy74; you know who MidDay is?  Sounds like if we split maybe he'll pay.
Have your people look into this.

You got it!

A split it is.  What a great day of Nescac football! 8-)  MidDay, unlike Nescacman, I have no people. :o  It looks like we're on.

SpringSt7

Best day of NESCAC football in recent memory—the last two weeks should be terrific regardless of the championship scenarios or lack there of. So many exciting storylines this year n

I'll take Amherst and Trinity today because they're playing at home and because Trinity is healthier. Also I think I like Bates over Colby despite being on the road--they've had the prior history of winning the CBB and I think they actually have better offensive weapons
Also, who's buying my drinks tonight?

Dude.  You're really good.
I'm buying.
Tell me where.

Outstanding win by Williams at trinity today. Great team culture and coaching leadership by everyone on the staff. Contributions from many players ....

Keep up the great work Ephs!

nescac1

Stat of the game for Williams:

Six sacks for six different guys, after only eight sacks throughout the first six games.  Tremendous scheme by the staff to dial up the pressure from everywhere, knowing that is Trinity's biggest vulnerability, and of course tremendous execution by the defense.

Spring St7 gets credit for his Midd/Wes prediction last week.  Even we got that wrong.

A few random NESCACMAN (aka "dimwit") thoughts on yesterday:

-First really good slate of games in a long time (and it actually lived up to expectations)!!!
-Hats off to HCOF Raymond for turning around the TTUN program and bringing it back from the dead (aka the HCOF Kelton era)....big win yesterday in the Coop...
-Great job by HAM and HCOF Murray...we're not ready to say this is a complete turnaround yet but it certainly puts the HAM HCOF into the COY discussion...MID better watch out...btw, us "dimwits" were on HAM early...this is a good team that plays hard every week and is very physical...QB Grey is very good and very tough...and they have done it without Schmidt since the Wes game....will he come back in 2020 as a medical red shirt?
-Hartford State gave up 6 sacks, 13 TFL and only had 42 yards rushing (on 44 carries) yesterday....but everything is great with their O-line...
-Unbelievable end to a great Little 3 game between the Lord Mammoth/Mysterious Ministers yesterday...in case you missed it, Wes stops the LMs for their first "3 and out" of the game with 1 min and change left in the game...Wes gets the ball back and drives to the LM 8 yard line...runs the clock to 2 seconds and lines up for the kick by Wes' really good frosh kicker....high snap, the LMs block the game winning field goal...1st OT...LMs win toss and elect to go on D first..Wes has ball first on 25, drives to the 1, gets stopped and lines up for the FG on their first possession....decedent snap and Wes K, doink, hits the left upright...kick no good...LMs turn on O...all they need is a FG to win...drives to the Wes 7 and on 3rd down decides to kick it...LM kicker lines up...good snap, good hold and....doink, hits the same left upright...2nd OT...LM ball first down...Eberth back to pass and intercepted by #2 for Wes (his second of the game and a candidate for DPOTW...btw, he did not have a good game at MID the week before)...Wes ball at the 25...Wes drives down to the AMH 3 as a result of some great running by WES and they line for the 20 yard game winner....low snap, GREAT hold, and the kick is good...wow...great NESCAC game...
-Where were the LJ fahtful yesterday???...Wes had as many, if not more, fans there as the LMs did...
-And speaking of the LMs, they really missed #5 and #76, who both were injured in the 1st quarter...and #44 who did not play...
-When was the last time an Amhurst/Hartford State game was for 4th place in the NESCAC and basically means nothing...
-Should be a great game in Middletown this week when TTUN faces the Cards with the Little 3 and potentially a NESCAC title on the line...
-Moral victory for Bowdoin yesterday outscoring MID in the second half and at least making the game slightly interesting...

Nescacman

And as we thought, #2 for Wes is named DPOTW...

JEFFFAN

Didn't have grand expectations for this year's team and they are living up to those expectations!   Strange that they have lost three straight overtime games to field goals - not sure when that ever happened before? - but having watched a lot of those games I cannot honestly say that they should have won any of them.   Between losing five very good starters including the all-timer Yamin on D from last year and then - the crusher - Joe Kelly not playing right now, the defensive cupboard is too bare.   They are giving up huge chunks of yards, something I don't see changing versus Trinity and Williams.  Could be the first losing season for the Jeffs in a long time.

They will be back.  EJ is too good a coach to let this become a common occurrence.
